Krakatoa

Krakatoa

EDIT: Alright so I just replayed this game TWICE and have to say the majority of all my problems were completely fixed.

I found about 2 new bugs, neither of which were game breaking and I don’t doubt the Dev will fix it as he does really care about this game.

Give this game a shot, it’s well worth it and if I can beat it before the update and twice after so can you.

LOVE THIS GAME, Try it now! I’ll add a link to my new playthrough when I get it uploaded soon.

New Playthrough as promised:

I love this game although at moments it touched a rage nerve lol. But it is great! Good atmosphere but the one thing I will touch on is the fact when you die it sends you back to the start which is really frustrating for me and probably others. But all in all a great game:) Check my playthrough and I got the bad ending so must get the good ending now:) Well doen Dev..I look forward to your next game:)

The Equinox Hunt

The Equinox Hunt

I’ve played the game a lot in alpha, beta as well as release, I’ve tried going for all the achievements, but it was too tedious after a while. You can find my name at the beginning of the credits as a tester.

Short Version:

Good side:

  • great gameplay

  • great level design

  • good controls

  • good enough atmosphere

Bad side:

  • badly presented story [no cutscenes except for the end]

  • no voice lines [breaks immersion][it could’ve easily been fixed for cheap]

  • badly optimized, to run the game a bit above 60 fps, it uses 80% of my gtx 1070ti

Had a lot of fun in the game even if its not something that I normally play. Got to the end of the game and enjoyed the ride, had quite a few laughs and scares along the way. You can play it stealthly or guns blazing, or I should say rocks blazing. I will replay the game just to hunt the achievements.

ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos

ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos

A warning, this is a Visual Novel, not an Action Game.

For players wishing to learn how to find the different branches, there seems to be, in general 4 Heroine Endings, each with Good and Bad, and after each ending, the start screen will display a silhouette of the “heroine”’s ending you unlocked. The first 2 times you play the game, you will unlock “extras” in the next playthrough, so Ending Meteora will be the first, after that, you will be capable of unlocking the second branch for Endings Noa and Anima, and after any of them, you unlock the ability to open the final branch, to the Coco Ending (Final).

This is the best VR game I’ve played so far this year and the #1 VR VN I’ve played to date by a long shot!

The first ending is around 3 hours in but it’s more like a prelude. The full game has about 15 hours of content to get all the endings and each branch adds huge swaths of story and character development so you really feel compelled to play through them all. There are also a couple music videos built into the story that you can go back and revisit any time which gives you some reason to boot up the game every now and then even after 100% completing it. Music videos in VR are awesome!

The theme of religion has been flagging up for me as of late and I sure hope it’s not a sign from above… The only other similarly themed horror game that I’ve reviewed was Lucius but that was about inflicting pain being inspired by the Omen films. It would be fine, had it not Intersect with another sub-genre I had NO prior experience at all (ZILCH)- FMV games! Hold for shock… I have come across many on Steam, but not once did I see the appeal behind them- if I wanted to watch something…you know where I’m going with this!?

Something’s Wrong in New Light City

There’s a murder-suicide crisis in New Light City and everyone is turning to Special Investigator Max Boston to uncover who - or what - is behind it. He is the best the city’s Enforcement Unit branch has to offer, but Max is wrestling with the aftermath of a heart-breaking tragedy that has him asking the eternal question, “Why?”

Cut to the Chase

Equipped with cutting-edge forensic technology, a talent for deduction, and his unique ability to convince even the most reluctant of suspects to talk, Max is about to embark on the biggest challenge of his career. From the top of the New Light City food chain, where the elite rule the city at their whim, to the infamous underground run by those who lurk in the shadows, the list of suspects is endless.

Keep a Clear Head

Sure, Max might know his way around the city better than anyone. He certainly knows how to get things done. But everyone has their demons and Max is no exception. The devastating tragedy which overwhelms his every waking moment has breathed life into a haunting darkness. A darkness that continues to grow more every day.

Choices Matter

Quiet Valley

Quiet Valley

A trippy horror title with a unique aesthetic that tells the story of a school tragedy.

First and foremost, I would caution against anyone with motion sickness issues getting this title, as the environment constantly shifts around in very wibbly-wobbly ways as you move. You can watch the trailer to get more of a sense of what I’m talking about.

This is not an action-packed game where you have to constantly worry about sprinting away from some sort of monstrosity, but rather, the focus is on exploration, puzzle-solving, story-telling, and atmosphere.
