Happy Words

Thank you! For a few years, I’ve been let down by not finding a decent Scrabble-like game. This is..pretty good. What would really improve it a lot, is if there could be a nonfamily-friendly setting; if you misspell a word, it gets thrown out & you lose your turn. That would make the game much more intense – then you actually have to know words. Still, for the price, it’s nice and much better than the free online scrabble & literati; the graphics, the choices of boards & tiles, and the music makes it much more fun. A real steal for 5 bucks.

It’s certifiably scuffed.

I’ve yet to have a game where it’s not bugged out and denied me a turn. The bots in offline play are absolute monsters that occasionally decide to skip like 4 turns in a row for no discernible reason. The dictionary has some truly ridiculous words in it and excludes many terms that are included in other dictionaries. However it’s dirt cheap for the only Scrabble variant on the platform, and it doesn’t throw a tantrum and crash when you’re in a game which is always a key factor in longer games like this.

Frame Game

Frame Game

So in case anyone was confused as to what kinda game this is, it’s like telephone, but with animation; first, everyone draws the first frame for their animation based on a prompt, and so eveeryone else has to try animating based on that frame, and than the next frame, etc (though if you don’t have any friends to play with, there’s also a free play mode where you can just animate based on a random prompt by yourself).

While I haven’t really been able to play with anyone yet, the freeplay mode was really fun on it’s own. Would recomend.

Potato Party: Hash It Out

VR needs more games like this!! This has been fun so far – played mostly with online friends, but planning to bring it out at game nights in the near future (seems like it’ll be better in-person actually – there’s a spectator mode if you want to run it on a shared screen).

Hoping for more VR party games like this in the future :)

Oh this is such a fun game, an awesome party game, particularly ideal in the pandemic because you don’t really need to be in the same room to enjoy it. it’s like charades in VR with a few other added things. It’s got cute characters and ways for people to suggest ideas for the “artist”. I never get over the amazing experience of 3d drawing in VR so naturally I can spend hours on this game. I would love more brushes and colors, I want to draw Mona Lisa in that two minute time :D (there is a Mona Lisa painting hanging on one of the walls too).

Alias

Alias

Want to have fun? Then gather a company of friends and turn on the game.

Alias, this is a word clarification game in which at least two two-person teams take part.

Its essence is the explanation in other words of the hidden word. Through associations, synonyms, antonyms or hints, your accomplice must guess as many words as possible in the allotted time.

A good addition is that this game can be played both online and in the same room as friends or family.

Alias is so simple and interesting that it will captivate not only teenagers, but also people of all ages.

So. Lemme begin by saying that I absolutely love this game.

The Gameplay

It has Both a singleplayer and multiplayer mode. The singleplayer is… well. not very fun. You just draw stuff to your creativity; BUT you can invite your friends and draw whatever you want in the same canvas, and it is necessary for the competitions with amazing rewards that take place in the Discord Server . The multiplayer has 3 different gamemodes, which are:

Stop Online - Battle of Words

Stop Online - Battle of Words

When the lobbies are flowing, this game is fantastic. It’s very simple to get a hang of and the devs seem pretty responsive which is always nice!

However, the small playerbase can cause issues with game flow and while the available translations are fantastic and show that work has gone into the game, it does segregate an already tiny population.

You make your own lobby if you want, selecting the language of the lobby, the time you get to type in and the various themes (up to 5) of your room. You can also set a password here if you want a private game, you blasted hermits.

Stop Online - Battle of Words is a game that you have probably already played at primary school on paper. You have to think as fast as you can of word of given themes and with specified starting letter that’s chosen randomly. Depending on originality and corectness of your answers, you get points - and after few turns, the winner is the one with highest amount of points.

What have I told you right now, is something the game itself doesn’t tell you. I know it’s mentioned in the Steam description, but as many people currently got this game for free (developers are giving away this game a lot to make at least a small active playerbase), many people doesn’t know what to do and you’ll have to explain it. There isn’t any tutorial which is a big con considering there isn’t anything complex to explain. Why the developers didn’t make a minute long video explaining the gameplay and put it in the game? That would help many newbies for sure.

Quick Trivia

Quick Trivia

Multiplayer games are extremely laggy and inputs are unreliable even when playing by yourself. The control scheme is unconventional and innovative, but not in a good way. Overall the game is very clunky and borderline unplayable.

The content is very recent, the answers are not all game titles, and the questions often have no clue as to whether the game is asking for a character, a game title or a series.

I’ll gladly revisit the game after an update.

10/10 would buy again, can’t answer a single question, they are vague and too hard to guess. The mechanics are laggy, sometimes with an input of over 5 seconds, and the multiplayer is unbearable. I would rather go on sporcle the website if you want actual trivia, this is just very bad.

Moving Letters

short and simple

A very short game of dragging the alphabet tiles to make the word based on the image or symbol given at the bottom of the tiles. You will be given an option after a few minutes to reveal the answer if you don’t know the answer. It’s a short fun game but the dragging is a bit lagging and possibly slot the tile to the unintended position. The timer for the online mode is a bit suicidal to me.

There is still a room of improvement for this game especially the tile-dragging part. Also, if you want to choose a different language, it will take quite some time because you have to keep clicking the flag until you get what you want. It will be fun if they come out with categories and each category has 50 words. Or swap words to make a sentence based on a series of images or symbols.
