Praetorians - HD Remaster

Praetorians - HD Remaster

First of all, congratulations on creating a HD remaster, looks fantastic!

Now the bitter part

The game could use something new after 17 years. A new pack of maps? Additional campaign maps? Announcer for War Chariots?

In many ways old moded version does thing better, new races and that.

Game also lacks siege maps, it’s a shame to see that not implemented yet.

Also you could’ve added a slider for the amount of units you can command.

The game wont last long if it doesn’t get mod support, that is for sure, we all know community is sometimes the best source of content and I’m certain that making this game mod friendly will make it even more successful.

Introduction

Years ago, the real-time strategy games consumed my time a lot, as I at least tried the vast majority of them. Praetorians, from 2003, was no exception, but it did not rank up among my favourites, so I was curious to see how I will enjoy this remastered version. Well, I got bored with the game during the first hours, but I still tried to find a way to like Praetorians. And while the second half of the campaign got my hopes up, it still was not enough for me to recommend this game.

Sea of Blood

Sea of Blood

Okay, first of all, it looks like this game uses the uMMORPG asset kit available on the Unity asset store as it’s template:

https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/templates/systems/ummorpg-51212

The fact that this developer uses this asset kit doesn’t concern me because it looks as if he’s made his own story, his own quests, his own maps and dungeons himself, and that’s great!

Here’s my first impressions livestream playing this game:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJE1FcyhMk4

As you’ll see in my stream, this game is simple, and fine but the fact the the in game FPS tanks every ten to fifteen seconds is a big concern. I can stand in place and do nothing and still watch the FPS drop from 60 to 23 every few seconds. While in combat or while running, these fps drops are very much felt. I have a brand new gaming MSI Trident 3 with an i7 10700 ### 3.4 Ghz, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super with 8 GB DDR5, and 16 GB of Dual Channel DDR4 RAM. Graphics like this should not be bringing my computer to its knees!

SF2K: Class Dismissed

SF2K: Class Dismissed

SF2K: Class Dismissed is, like, an intense war between a bunch of girls who are all out to ruin each other’s popularity and self-esteem. The object is to physically attack and majorly dis your enemies until they are totally mortified beyond belief. You’ll never come out on top without making the right friends, so be careful who you’re nice to. Because in the end, only the shrewdest will survive with their social status intact!

Delve into social gameplay like no other, playing with tenuous alliances and bitter rivalries on the harshest battlefield know to humans - the schoolyard playground. Who can you REALLY trust?

On your way to becoming the universe’s most popular girl you’ll experience:

  • Dynamic social gameplay - each round is never the same! Deception, trust, tears - all part of the playground.

  • Meet new friends along the way; you’re gonna need some friends to beat the other losers!!

  • You can’t get to the top without making a few enemies!

  • Compare your stats with your friends (and enemies) on the rankings board. Will you be #1 on the Most Popular board or #1 on the Losers Board?

  • Mix your gameplay up with customisable game modes. Just don’t pick a “cower only” game unless you’re all scaredy-cats.

Choose between 100+ accessories for your day on the playground. Your wardrobe starts off with the basics, so you’ve got choices like a bandana, headphones or a bone through your hair. As you earn more clout on the playground, you also learn a thing or two about fashion. You’ll get access to things like cool new glasses (even if your vision is 2021), dollar bling, butterfly wings, fancy ties and even your own bodyguard! Did I mention that you’ll also get earn full outfits from being popular, like prom dresses, mermaid outfits, 70s discotheque outfits just to name a few. Your wardrobe will be HUGE in no time, which is a good thing because who wants to wear the same thing twice in a row??

Wait a minute, I’m getting deja-vu… doesn’t this game look familiar?

If you used the Internet in the early 2000s, you probably heard about SiSSYFiGHT 2000, I mean who hasn’t. Anyway, it’s back and better than ever. We didn’t think it was possible to improve upon SiSSYFiGHT but here we are.

Deathmatch Classic

Deathmatch Classic ─ a love story.

There it was. The last DMC server on earth. With last two players.

They were fighting to win. One versus one. Head to head.

They were winning their own small victories. Their score was close, they were the best.

And after playing for so long they grew attached to each other.

The player one really started to like player two, but he didn’t know how to express his feelings.

After 3 kills in the row, player one decided to write a message in chat: “Hey, you’re a really good player!”

Hotshot Racing

Hotshot Racing

Arcade racing games have been a staple of my gaming career for some time now. I’m no stranger to what the likes of SEGA, Namco or other developers brought to the table. So when I followed Hotshot Racing, I just had to buy it on Steam. The flat shaded polygon aesthetic and Virtua Racing meets modern Ridge Racer game play were selling points to me. So, after clocking in a whopping thirty-four hours of play, how does Hotshot Racing fare?

The Good

  • First of all, there’s a ton of replay value involved. From a myriad of unlockables, to different game modes, local and online multiplayer, time attack leader boards, and a variety of achievements. Want to play cops and robbers in cars? This game has that. Ever wanted to simulate Keanu Reeves in the movie ‘Speed’? There’s a mode for that. Want to break a record and make the leader boards? There’s that, too. This game will most certainly having you coming back for more.

Rubberbanding?! Slipstreaming?! Bots cheat?!

What are negative reviews talking of? Rubberbanding generally in racing games is the effect of cars getting an advantage like a speed boost once they fall behind. Generally talking about racing game design of all racing games I have played in my life I remember two cases:

[olist]

  • racing games where there is no rubber banding so the first car gets into the lead more and more and the pack behind it blocks and rams into each other slowing themselves down. This is the unfun one for me. If I’m part of the pack I have no option to win anymore unless the first car fails decisively, all my skill cannot turn the tide, I’m without any incentive to go on with the race to win unless the first car is driven by a total idiot. And if I’m the player in the lead I don’t feel skilled knowing that I have the advantage of no disturbance unlike the others who must cope with that handicap. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like winning easily, this just doesn’t feel rewarding.

Rise of the Triad

Rise of the Triad

There are 2 options to follow when a developer decides to do a remake: either it remains true to the original, including (the quite possibly dated and obsolete) gameplay or it gets modernized to today’s standards becoming only slighty reminiscent to its predecessor. The best way to go of course is the successful combination of the 2, something like Doom 3 . The creators of Rise of the Triad chose the first option with all its benefits and risks and while it can’t possibly compete with present day story-driven FPSs, mainly due to the unique nature of the original game, it still manages to remain an enjoyable first-person shooter.

Real player with 37.3 hrs in game

If DOOM (2016) and Shadow Warrior (2013) could be comparable to the success of Shovel Knight by how they deviated from the guidelines of the old-school FPSs, choosing instead to resonate the nostalgic memories into a new game, then Rise of the Triad (2013) is a case of where it adheres entirely to the classic formula with graphical differences. Some might argue that this is to the detriment as the original Rise of the Triad wasn’t without its own share of issues the reboot inherits.

As someone who enjoys the shattered expectations that ROTT brings to old-school FPSs, it has always baffled me how this game never got wide acceptance in spite of its flaws. If people can accept what kind of old-school FPS experience it wants to be, and not what people assume from these games, there is a great experience to be had that keeps true to what people love about these old-school FPS. It’s not a perfect game nor is the foundation it is built upon without its issues; however, most complaints about the gameplay come across as misunderstanding the niche appeal of ROTT and how it manages to stand itself out from the other FPSs of the past as well as the present.

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

Are you seeing this because you are intrested to buy it on a sale? Don’t even read further and get it right away for these few $ it is worth. Still curious? Let me explain why my hours for this game are so high.

This game has a very active modding scene who created a variety of different gamemodes. Unlike the name deathmatch tells you there is plenty of other things to do making it fun for everybody. The community is great and in many places very helpfull. They will sort out bugs you have or simply teach you how to play the game. You should definately buy this game! Many of us are familiar with such multiplayer online games like Counter-Strike. Now imagine the goodness of the Source engine and Half-Life 2 in such a multiplayer game and you have Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. When Half-Life 2 was first released, there was no multiplayer. This acts as its multiplayer, which was first bundled with Counter-Strike: Source, this is an awesome game and definitely worth the value.

  • Gameplay :

The premise of the game is simple: kill or be killed as the Rebels or the Combine. There are two game modes available, a free-for-all Deathmatch, or a team Deathmatch. It’s sad that there are only two game modes, but the fast-paced killing will make you forget it anyway. There’s a much different stratagem than Counter-Strike; while CS will emphasize standing still to increase your accuracy, it will get you quickly killed in Deathmatch, which emphasizes constant movement and continuous attack.

Fly Away Baseball

can’t really recommend. I understand this is a classic baseball game but no sound or anything. Like come on its good gameplay. Good animations and good hitting pshycis. but no sound. Barely anything to play and plus its the same staduim. There is no night or day at all. I would like to see sound in the game and some features of season mode and things but based on this game. it is not worth it not even a penny.
