It’s a shame when adults must be treated like children but I think we all saw this coming.

The fact that I’m writing this hear does not mean you will read it but I am not alone. Many are growing sick of anti consumerism’s and there is a price you will pay for it. A price you will pay for your actions. This won’t hurt me near as much as it’s going to hurt you.

No more money.

Quick rundown;

If you like stompy mech vs mech combat, get this game. If you like customising things to fit your own playstyle, get this game.

If you like fast battles where you can just jump in and play, don’t get this game. If you are a die-hard fan of the Battletech Universe and think the best Mechwarrior title is MW:2 or MW:4 Mercs, then you probably don’t want to play this game.

While still being loyal to its predecesors, the gameplay is vastly different. If you wan’t to try something different from other free games out there, then do try this game. You don’t have to have hundreds of hours put into the game to have a decent selection of mechs to play with.

Garrison: Archangel

After hundreds of hours playing this game again and again, allow me to make a review about it.

GARRISON: ARCHANGEL is a Filipino-made 3D Action Mecha Anime-ish Fighting game where you take part in the creation of these mechs called “Archangels” from the provided parts given to you throughout the game. You can either play this game by one, constructing your archangel, and test it against other mechs on either AI, online or multiplayer couch combat, or two, by making your own archangel, and let the AI use it to deal with the other archangels in the game, or the builds given by other players in this game’s Discord channel.

In short: Please send help, I can’t stop building or fighting…

While the game is still in early access and things are being hammered out, improved, and added; I feel compelled to do what I believe is my first ever steam review on this title. If you love mechs, but find the small handfull of Gundam games that have hit the west lacking with their rather shallow gameplay or if you find the customization systems in Armored Core titles overly complex and cumbersome or if you dislike the “simulator” feel that most other mech games seem to have then you’re in luck.

AirMech Strike

AirMech Strike

Updated 03/30/18 - Post Early Access

AirMech Strike is a PvP based Action RTS set in the near future, in the aftermath of an apocalyptic war that decimated humanity across the globe, driven by versatile weapons of war, AirMechs.

The basic gameplay of AirMech revolves around using one of the nine different titular AirMechs move and command an army of a variety of units, capturing outposts to serve as deployment points for new units, and ultimately destroy the event fortress.

AirMech has been called a MOBA, but I think it far more accurate to think of AirMech as an RTS where your cursor can itself damage and be damaged by enemy units. This mechanic allows in AirMech for gameplay and strategy to occur that is not found in any other game. Destroy the enemy airmech, and they’ll be unable to route reinforcements to the outpost that you’re attacking until they get back in. You’ll be able to stage a surprise assault elsewhere that they won’t be able to deal with until they respawn. Destroying the enemy airmech greatly expands your tactical options and adds a new layer of strategy to RTS.

Hey you, Yeah you!

Do you like mobas?

How about RTS games?

Giant Transforming Robots?

If you said yes to any of the above, then you should try out Airmech. If you didn’t, it is still a free game and you have nothing to lose.

Now you may be asking: “What is Airmech?” Airmech is moba style Games with some Real Time Strategy elements mixed in for a fresh spin on the classic moba gamestyle.

Players control Airmechs, giant mechs that are able to transform into various planes and helicopters at the will of the pilot. There are currently nine different airmechs(as of me typing this) that players can choose from, and more designs are planned to be added in the future! Each of the nine different airmechs play differently, each are equiped with different kinds of guns, missiles, and melee weapons along with 8 preset upgrades that will be unlocked as the mech levels up each match.

Orbital Gear

Orbital Gear

Orbital Gear is a fun fast paced shooter with some really fun design choices.

Pros:

[+] Guns are satisfying. There are 12 in all, and each one is very unique. Using a different gun feels like using a different class in Tf2, and each one has a satisfying hit. There are a lot of high impact weapons, so dieing is quick, but so are respawn timers so there’s very little to no downtime.

[+] Movement is great. It takes a little bit to get used to the gravity mechanic, but once you understand how to manipulate it in your favor, sling shotting yourself across the map feels really great. There are single player time trials to help you learn them.

Real player with 27.6 hrs in game

[Pros]

-You control a robot running around and rocket-jumping from planets to planets while trying to destroy other robots like you. Just…see the trailer. It is more exciting to see it than read it.

-The “Maps” are beautiful. Seeing how much different are the planets and spaces [literally] between them, is always welcome. Also in some maps require from the players to play differently each time.

For example in a specific VERY small map, I suggest you heavily to use mines and a shotgun :)

-A very satisfying variety of weapons for you to select. From a “normal” Minigun, to a weapon shooting big deadly gravity balls, pulling your enemies inside it!!!

Warnings:

1. There is no single player mode

2. The community is practically dead, you’ll be lucky to find 2 to 4 people online to play with, if any

3. If you do manage to start a match the game play is unfortunately pretty slow and clunky

Positives:

1. You can play local multiplayer

2. It’s almost interesting as a party game

In summary: Be sure you actually have people to play this with or you won’t even be able to play it at all.

This game is absolutely the best. Tiny bit of a learning curve, but I really have no complaints. Fun action, makes you and your friends laugh, runs smooth as butter. Not to mention you can have up to 14 people playing this at once. 14 people. 10 on controller and 4 on keyboard.

I really hope that somehow, someway, this game will get a playerbase so that online matches will exist. There simply isn’t enough people playing to jump into a random online match.

Either way I absolutely love this game. You should definitely buy this game provided you have friends to play them with. (also check out the other powerhoof games. they totally rock)

Titanfall® 2

Titanfall® 2

I absolutely love this game! If it had a bigger community i’d probably explore more game modes. the solo campaign is really well done I was even working on getting all the collectibles.

I took a break for about a year to play some other stuff as one does and when I wanted to dabble in a little Titan Fall 2 again I was asked to download EAs crap game launcher and NO, I wont be doing that again. So snip that little, rotten umbilical and I’ll give a thumbs up. Til then this gem is on my hidden list.

Real player with 108.5 hrs in game

This game is truly a gem in the rough, despite it’s occasional server issues. It feels like a relic from the golden age of FPS titles, before they were bogged down with season passes, battle royale modes, and premium currencies forced down your throat.

When you hop into Titanfall 2 it feels FUN, like a game is supposed to be. The community is pretty laid back and chill, PvP feels fair despite some desync issues, and progression is rewarding. Pilot gameplay is responsive and fast, with each class of pilot having unique special abilities that each have advantages and disadvantages over others. And same goes for Titans, with each Titan feeling different to play, but each balanced to perfection. You can make really any loadout viable in any gamemode if you get good with it.

five star i give this game … it work well for VR … worth the money as well … good artwork … the AI bot system is very good for learning how to play, before you go into muiltplayer … you get four mechs to choose from at moment … much more faster movement … it not like VOX where it easy to get a kill for people with no skill … cus it slow moving … code 51 is a fast moving FPS arcade style mech game … their are pick up point to get more damage power and a way to repair yourself in game and you will need a game pad to play (PS4/XBOX 1) controllers will work with this game and to the DEV’S of this game you need to chat with people that are looking for info from you lot and you need to sort out your link to discord .. as the one you have supplied is not working now and you need to set up a system in game that allow people to set up their own matches as well and this game could work well in VR Esports … a good way to draw a crowd to this game is you could run a tourney :)

Since I bought Oculus, many VR games caught my attention. Well I just got done playing this game for the first time and had such a great time playing. It’s easy to jump into, fun plays well and looks awesome. Kills are satisfying, guns are powerful and Distinctive. This is what I hope multiplayer games in VR can build off of. This game definitely caught my attention. Well done Devs!

Dark Horizons: Mechanized Corps

Dark Horizons: Mechanized Corps

I have to say I want to love this game. I still play a lot. The best part about it is building and trying out the mechs. Some of the problem is that no one is playing so you have to play by yourself and the bots are not very smart, or maybe too smart they go hide in the ocean. Every once in a while you have a great game against the bots, but not on every board.

I would like to see a board where you have unlimited ammo.

The bots would not have to be strong but they need to attack and spawn more of them. I love shooting at them. Missiles are great but you don’t have enough of them need a way to reload on the spot. Long way back to the base to reload waste to much time.

Campaign is coming along, the Faction wars stuff is cool too. New contract missions give something for players looking for Single Player missions to do.

Early Access so there’s obviously some bugs still. Considering that, this game is still pretty strong and well done. Especially at this early alpha phase. I’m a huge fan of the game so far and can’t wait to get into more battles. There are maps both big and small to allow quick brutal mech matches as well as more drawn out conflicts. I personally prefer the small maps.

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN

(Updated Review)

Now after ~50 hours, I still can’t recommend this game.

EDF Iron Rain is a decent game, but is an awful EDF game.

This game is a downgrade from EDF 5 and a sidegrade from EDF 4.1 so get either game instead. I would recommend EDF 5 since 5 is an upgrade from 4.1.

Here are a list of the good parts and the issues after beating the game twice now.

The Good:

  • Prowl Rider is one of the best class and the most fun class in EDF Iron Rain.

  • The WX sword is the best sword and most fun sword in EDF Iron Rain.

This game is a really guilty pleasure for me.

I found it somewhere for 27 dollars, always do your part and find yourself a deal. It was probably cheaper on a sale, but I missed it and always wanted to play this game because I have a soft spot for sci fi themes and third person shooters.

Earth defense force is a brilliant look at giant insects attacking the planet, and the display and scale of their games leave nothing to be desired mechanically. But for someone like me the game really never got my attention because of how slow everything felt. I played EDF 4.1 and something about it made me feel like it wasn’t worth the work. Unlocking guns was really slow, and I always felt like I needed to creep up the ranks in difficulty just to be able to defend myself, maybe I just wasn’t ready to commit time to a game that looked like that.

New Gundam Breaker

New Gundam Breaker

I own Gundam Breaker 3 on PS4. And this “New” version is without a doubt worst. But, on its own, it’s playable. I wasn’t sure about buying it first, so I decided to watch some streams before, and I liked what I saw.

Gundam Breaker is a series in which you create your own Gunpla, a model of a true machine. So, you don’t “really” play Gundam here, rather you play the role of a kid who uses a Gunpla to battle some other kids in a VR game. The parts you can use come in two sizes, 1/144 and 1/100. In GB3, the bigger parts had better stats, but here it seems there’s just a difference in size. You can paint your gunpla however you want, and it’s possible to create a true Frankenstein’s monster if that is your goal. Once your gunpla is finished, you can step into the arena and begin to fight.

Real player with 136.8 hrs in game

Let me get this straight - the reason why i’m recommending this game, is because it hasn’t been abandoned, it is being updated, and it has gone a little better since it’s launch. If you are a Gundam fan, and Gunpla fan, there is something for you in this game, the freedom to build and customize is great (not as good as GB3, but that is a console exclusive), the quantity of MS you can get parts is great (250 since last update), a great selection, many custom parts to add to your build, though a bit limited on how many you can put on, graphics are really good, has original music from many series which you can select which ones you want to play during combat.
