Mini Moves: Among Stars

Mini Moves: Among Stars

A short but entertaining casual game in which astronaut figures have to be moved to the correctly coloured flags in a limited number of moves. The 40 levels increased in difficulty (including certain paths only usable by a particular astronaut) so that it was very satisfying to work out the solutions to the later levels. Unfortunately the achievements system appears to have broken recently; this was a little disappointing but didn’t spoil my overall enjoyment of the game.

AR-K: The Great Escape

After playing the first 2 episodes I can safely say that this is the best episode so far!!! The developers certainly improved the game quality in both ways: technically and direction-wise. The following points sums up the following:

Pros:

  • Gameplay quality much improved from first 2 episodes

  • Puzzles more interesting

  • Protagonist given more depth in character

  • Story development much more natural

  • Render quality improved

  • This episode is much more bug free than previous 2 episodes

It’s great when you come to a game and it’s a lot better than you thought it would be. While I enjoyed ar-k 1 and 2 and I do recommend those games to play first, this for me is a lot better - story, graphics, setting. The writing was very good and if you didn’t want to read everything, you didn’t need to click on that character’s bit of conversation but could come back to it if you wanted. I liked the humour, and it was witty in parts. It is the perfect balance of not just a good story which is vital in an adventure game but also good interactive gameplay.

Santa’s Christmas Solitaire 2

Santa’s Christmas Solitaire 2

Santa’s Christmas Solitaire 2 has even more to love than first one. New Christmas story. Snowball fights with stars earned based on how many turns you take (getting harder further along in levels). I’m slightly addicted to the snowball fights. One Up/One Down, Pair Match, and Sum 14 game play choices…which basically gives you 3 Games in One. 3 difficulty levels. Mini games you can play during solitaire or turn off. Laughed with what happened when lost a chimney mini game. Additional bonus solitaire games off menu. Options have volume adjustments and plenty of holiday card/cursor choices. Peppy music. Advent calendar map for levels and now 4 stars per game to get. A Shop to buy power ups with in-game coins. Price is right since you can play this game 3 different ways. The devs were nice and responded quickly to questions. Enjoy this Christmas game. Now back to saving Christmas…

The sequel to the first Santa’s Christmas Solitaire game by Revills games, with some new elements added so it is not an exact clone. Enjoyable all around in it’s simplicity of play, graphics, music and cheesy story line, just like the first.

SCS 2’s basic play is the same as the first, based on the Advent calendar, there are 24 “doors” with 10 stages each of solitaire game play. You must achieve a minimum number of stars each stage to open the next stage as well as to open the next door. As you play you collect coins to use in the store, to buy items to help your gameplay as well as help you in a new part of the game: snowball fights! Generally the 10th stage in each door is a snowball fight, that when done correctly will finish the stage and door for you. If you should happen to not care for the snowball fights you may skip them and just play the stage as a regular solitaire type.

Grottesco Absurdus

I expected this game to be a bizarre, surreal or funny experience. I play a l lot of games so short games wouldn’t have bothered me, but that wasn’t the issue. It was just not that fun.

Most of the gameplays are just trial and error and most of them involves just clicking stuff at the right timing.

The gameplay itself isn’t that much fun, and it is actually very short while the ride isn’t rich.

The most “mechanical” minigame is one where you click ‘n drag a character to dodge bullets. You need to survive for the score of 100 in order to consider it beaten. One game update claims it has been fixed to be possible, but it was still very difficult and unfun. The problem with it is how random it was, so you were basically depending on luck. You cannot respond fast enough as your character is slow and mildly unresponsive.

This is a fun little game consisting of weird mini games where you have to discover the rules of each mini game yourself. It took me a bit longer than what I initially thought it should, as all the achievements are missable, therefore I suggest you use a guide to unlock the achievements, as if you look for them yourself it will take quite a while to complete.

I am a big fan of these types of games and I have played all the games from this specific developer and I loved all of the games. I recommend that you guys play this game and if you liked it, then get some of the other games from this developer. Most of the games are short, but definitely worth it.

The Directed

The Directed

This is definitely a well-thought 50-level logic puzzle game. It also includes 4 mini-games if you can unlock them ;)

An excellent mix between Sokoban and Lemmings :)

You basically have a character who acts all lemingy - going straight unless DIRECTED otherwise by arrows you have.

You have a limited amount of arrows to DIRECT it to the (one and only, marked) endpoint.

WARNING : This game is near impossible for human brains, and around level 20-30 the difficulty skyrockets.. so beware.

Pros :

The Directed is an absolutely brilliant logic puzzle game. The levels are extremely challenging but at the same time finding the right solution after a giant brain storming session is a very rewarding feeling. It will probably make you want to give up countless times, but at the same time, you’ll most likely get back to it every single time, since the game has a special way getting you hooked.

In order to solve the levels you’ll need to think out of the box. They’re especially designed so that they stimulate your creativity and resourcefulness. Trying to solve a level the “normal” way will probably not work. You’ll ask yourself whether there is an error hidden somewhere, or if the developers had miscalculated something, but every time the answer will be the same: no; it’s you that has to change your approach.

Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded

Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded

85 / 100

First thing to appreciate with Leisure Suit Larry (LSL) is that it is a game that originally was created in 1987! The gameplay in this ‘Reloaded’ version is essentially the same, with updated graphics, interface & full voice/audio support.

Being from an earlier generation, the gameplay can feel basic by modern standards and there is no real direction from a story perspective to guide you either. You only know that you need to guide Larry (the 40yr old virgin) to find love. With limited guidance, the ability to visit any of the locations in any order & a lot of abstract puzzles to solve LSL can leave you scratching your head for long periods.

Beautiful minimalist chess game, which challenges you not only solve the level but tests your memory capacity as well. It is challenging at start but, when you realize how to play, the experience is very immersive. Relaxing soundtrack, a trademark of Zen Chess series, makes a great overall experience. You must give it a try!

It’s okay, and sort of what I expected. I like the music, I like how you have the option to change the pieces & the coloring of board. I like how it occasionally mentions something about the game or the famous chess dude. It’s all very pretty. However, the colossal flaw is not showing you the entirety of the mating sequence. It just says you solved the puzzle & on to the next one, without showing you the end result. I want to see it play out the rest of the moves until checkmate is achieved (especially if it is a mate in 10 or more). What the developer could do is just put the entire game in each puzzle and let you scroll through the move list. That would make this game (& all of the Zen chess puzzles) soooooo much better. Ugh..frustrating! But okay, I grudgingly give it a thumbs up because I think these exercises will improve your chess game & I sort of like it.

What can i say, i liked Zen chess mate in 1, 2,3 and 4 moves. For 0.51 cents on sale i would say this a good deal on Zen Chess Champion moves. But i feel as if there are too many errors in the chess moves. On board #47 there is an illegal move made by the game. You can not put the kind in check but that is what it did. There are several boards you can finish with better moves but the game is inflexible. It feels wrong some how. Or maybe my chess skill is too high as the game is not really a challenge for me. I feel that this game is a miss somehow, it should of been better.

If you want to work your brain over your trigger finger.. this is the way to do it.

Just starting out and learning the how-tos takes a bit of time depending on the type of puzzle, a couple times I’ve found myself with a solution that works, but is slightly different than the acceptable solution .. ie the black and white “no Three” if my final results were rotated 90 degrees, they would match the solution, all criteria met for solving but still told it’s wrong.

Things I’d like to see would be an Undo option (allow backtracking a few steps) and either hint or progress check

It would be in my best interest to give a glowing review since I want to see this game completed but I need to be honest about the progress made so far. I do realise this game is considered Early Access and I know the budget for this game is pretty small, and you should keep that in mind too (if you end up reading the in-depth review linked below), but ultimately, is it something I would recommend to my friends or the gaming public in its current state? Considering the artwork still needs some touching up, bugs were encountered way too frequently, the UI needs fixing and the first chapter is way too short, probably not. I’m hoping that Adventure Mob will eventually prove me wrong though, as I really want this game to succeed.

Bolt Riley is a well-intentioned but uniformly misguided proof of concept.

Presumably the developers naively underestimated the effort required to achieve the level of quality best suited to their vision. Instead, they opted to release an embarrassingly short and painfully butchered appetizer.

One should be easily inclined to forgive unrefined details in Early Access but no update in over a year severely burdens the game’s credibility.
