  • High-quality visual style.

  • Original soundtrack.

Which path will you take, Beatrice?

William’s route. Theme: “Wrath”

The phrase “the way to a man’s heart is through the stomach” absolutely justifies itself when it comes to this guy. Is a well-fed man a kind man? Maybe…

But given how primitive it is, you will quickly figure out which buttons you need to press for this killing machine to work in your interests. You will live as safely as behind a stone wall.

Sylvan’s route. Theme: “Envy”

Look at this sly face, biker outfit and… Still in doubt?

Silvan always comes up with flashy sarcastic jokes, he is a hopeless romantic with a craving for travel, a professional liar, a scoundrel and a very smart young man. Well, someone has to be smart, right?

Charlie’s route. Theme: “Gluttony”

The flirty administrator of “Tenebrae” nightclub herself will kindly offer to become your guiding light in the dark world of revelry and pleasure. As long as it’s to her advantage, of course.

This beauty will reveal you much more secrets than you expect if you decide to get close to her.

Ryu’s route. Theme: “Greed”

Ever dreamed of an affair with a real J-rock star? Are you sure? This guy is a real handful, but what really motivates him?

  • Oh, you… What is your name again? Will you kiss me for good luck?

Do you enjoy emotional swings? Then let’s fly!

Friedrich’s route. Theme: “Pride”

Do you like men in uniform and high ranks? Great, but they don’t care about you. Threatening with a boycott and hunger strikes? Why? Oh, right… He did ground you, after all.

Fraulein, have at least some kind of conscience, you are causing nothing but headache.

Morris’s Route. Theme: “Lust”

Already dizzy?

It’s all because of hunger. How can you resist and not bite when he asks for it? But it’s better to control yourself because your only chance of getting out of here is by winning the bet.

What? Such tortures are against the rules? Come on, a little masochism and delayed pleasure hasn’t hurt anyone yet.

Dante’s route. Theme: “Sloth”

What does a woman most often do when she sees a lost man deeply in depression in front of her? Of course, she saves him.

How does she save him? Oh, Beatrice has some specific ways. A bit of role-playing games, a little provoking, some improvisation, and now the guy is already…

Well, that was not a bad plan…

Martin’s route. Theme: “Purgatory”

With the detective, things are very difficult. Save him for last.

To get to his route, you’ll have to put some effort into it: find the right combination of messages and telephone conversations, without turning off that road.

After walking you through all seven circles of sweet Hell, Virgil will lead you to Purgatory. You will simply have to pass just a few deadly tests, and then you will be able to go through the gates of the real Paradise.

This, of course, is a metaphor, but we are not exaggerating.

Home: A Quarantine Story

A realistic narrative that builds a unique yet somehow familiar setting, Home: A Quarantine Story will softly resonate with anyone who can’t decide if their heart is with the home they’ve made for themselves or the home they grew up in. I’ll admit it doesn’t look like games I’m normally drawn to, but it’d be a mistake to judge this visual novel by its graphics. Home: A Quarantine Story is, may I remind you, free, so there’s really no reason not to pick it up.

A relatively short story about how family and the concept of “home” can be as poisonous as it is comforting. Detailed descriptions of items throughout the house breathed more life into the characters and character relationships, and the relationship between the main character and her mother in particular was quietly unsettling from start to finish—especially because it leaned into believable emotional manipulation tactics.

[Neolithic]To the End

[Neolithic]To the End

This may be the weirdest fever dream you’ve ever had.

Life is full of absurdity

  • Convert supernatural (or not so supernatural) enemies to be your pets.

  • Minigames! The awesome part of an open-world RPG is, you can get all those minigames for free!

  • Frequent updates. Who knows what you can find in the future.

  • DRM-Free!

  • Highly customizable playing experience.

Risks: (I will be totally honest with you. Thus, I put it here)

1, The game is made with a very old game engine. (For memories' sake)

2, There is only one developer.

3, I am terrible at 2D art.

4, I am not a native speaker of English.

Thus, I provide an honest demo for you. The demo version will update all the way till the game release.

It reflects the current stage of game development in almost real-time.

As the game is one of the first and last RMXP games that’s ever being developed, I’m not exactly aiming to make it something great. (or even sane.)

Instead, it needs to be unique and fun in a way that people can rarely see nowadays, to make people laugh maniacally even in a grimdark world where both the in-game world and the life circle of RMXP are coming to an end.

Story

Welcome to our secret society of [redacted]. We are among the most ancient ones in our line of work.

For a long time, we have witnessed the rise and fall of many others.

The situation is grim, the world almost ended in 2008, 2012, 2015, and 2020.

Some people predict it will keep ending this year, next year, and the year after.

But, well, even if that’s true, even if the ending is inevitable, it is tragic, we are still alive.

So, cheer up! We shall carry on.

As long as we stand, the world shall never fall!

To the end…

Features:

Unbalanced and Unfair

Beneath the facet of the beautiful life people called “normal”, lurks the truth that this secret struggle is never fair.

There are things that can hardly be killed. They may come in great numbers to overwhelm us.

Even when not facing such a supernatural entity, a well-trained Kung-Fu master can still be killed by just a bullet.

But, We Fight on With All We Have!

We have guns and our own magics. We even learned to bind supernatural entities to our wills.

We have tools and artifacts, we have skills ranging from combat to conversation.

If there is a lock that can hardly be picked, try blowing it.

There are always solutions.

You Are Different.

Your arrival was not expected. You were not on any lists. We know little about you.

Show us, who you are and who you will become with all the perks/skills/proficiency you may develop.

We may still stand a chance against all odds with your help.

Lead us…

In This Vast World

Your loyal companions will follow you from ancient ruins to modern metropolis, from east to west.

You will meet common folks we swear to protect, watching them live their “normal” life.

You will discover mysteries, solve them when combat evil forces lurking in the dark.

The Secret History

The story behind this game:

https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1519140/view/2986431641632413538

It’s the first Neolithic game with English localization that comes to Steam since 2004 when the first game of Neolithic was published in a dark corner of China.

_Comparing to a commercial game, this is more like a memento to the old golden age of RPG Maker XP (when indie games are really indie; when updates are free instead of being paid DLCs; when developers update games for years, even decades instead of abandon projects as soon as it’s no longer profitable; when games are made with passion instead of money-hunger; And, when RPG Maker was not used to just make those cheap adult-only games.)

This is NEOLITHIC!

There are many games out there, made with modern tools and more than 1 developer. They are supposed to be better than mine.

But, they are not. Why?_

Check out my Steam Curator for short snappy reviews here:

https://store.steampowered.com/curator/40294200-Glitz-and-Gaming-Couple/

Has all the makings of a really bad 80s action movie flick:

Graphics: 5/10 - Although creates a realistic environment it isn’t the prettiest looking game and kind of reminds me of the getaway from the ps2 era if it was set in the eastern bloc. Had a few clipping issues and my character had his arm wrapped around him after one of the fights. For a game to pride on melee needs things like blood/bruising to make it look authentic.

Dust to Dusk

Dust to Dusk

A well-written short horror story!

The actual main plot was quite unexpected for me and I had a lot of fun with the puzzles.

A lot of effort was put into it with a lot of CGs and plenty character portraits! I was very happy about the game having a gallery!

I think it’s a well-spent few hours, especially considering the low price.

If you would still rather have a look into the game before buying then you can watch a part of my playthrough:

I wasn’t too sure what to think about the overall plot until I got everything in the gallery and unlocked one last side story. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I would highly recommend that you make the effort to do so as well. Otherwise, you’ll really be missing out. If you enjoy horror-themed adventure games with heart behind them, you’ll love this. I had a great time, and it was packed with way more content than I expected given the one dollar asking price.

Esper - Make You Live Again

Esper - Make You Live Again

Brief

Esper - Make You Live again is a pretty straight forward story telling game in the design of a Visual Novel, known as a Kinetic Novel. Offering various characters and scenes, it gives a pretty accurate depiction of what it would be like to be in this universe.

Pros

  • Good Story

  • Decent Length (see Additional Comments)

  • Chapter Select

  • Good Options

  • Good & Consistent Art

  • Decent Music

  • Has A Demo (Not many games do this anymore)

Cons

  • Lack of Story Choices (see Additional Comments)

Real player with 54.5 hrs in game

Esper - Make You Live Again is a kinetic Visual Novel published by Stoigames early this year, but the development has started back in 2015, and it’s clearly a work of passion.

Espers are people with special abilities, capable of establishing emotional links with individuals on the edge of rapture. Those feeling depressed, suicidal or in a tremendous sadness turmoil, if lucky, can be approached by an Esper, which will do everything to help. This order is well established among society, with schools that train and develop Espers, from a very early age. All of this running in the underground of the world as we known it.

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout

I do recommend this game, albeit with some caveats.

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout is an old-fashioned third-person shooter with 17 missions, across which you get to play as twelve characters total (six each for the Joes and Cobra). The game is obviously a love letter to the original 80s cartoon, and given the comments the developers make in the art book, they worked with what they had and would’ve make a more robust game if given the choice. If you like G.I. Joe and don’t boot up the game expecting a triple-A title, I think you’ll have a good time.

Real player with 17.7 hrs in game

I honestly couldn’t tell you why this game got so slammed at release. I picked it up in a Fanatical Platinum bundle and powered through the whole thing in one sitting - and it was worth every penny. Definitely a budget title, but between the self-aware humor, earnest appreciation for the IP, and damn fun action (even the vehicle sections!), Operation Blackout might actually be the first genuinely GOOD G.I. Joe game!? It basically is like if Volition’s Agents of Mayhem was a linear action game rather than a sandbox grind, and it works so much better as a result!

Beat Defender

Beat Defender

My review may be biased due to my connection with the creator, however I feel confident saying that this game has the potential to become a great and very popular rhythm game. The premise is simple, and the game is quite simple to start learning. Personally I think the learning curve for the first few levels is just about right, requiring a bit of time to learn the basics, and to polish until the final level. Overall I would recommend the game to people that are looking for a new and interesting rhythm game, and especially so if the game continues to be developed.

Gaem gaem GAEMING!

The game follows a silent protagonist with no known name or history who slashes threats who try and invade homeless camps in the city. Other than that, the game has no real story (though I imagine that a story might be implemented later on.)

The game’s hybrid of rhythm and hack n slash makes the experience unique and enjoyable. However, there are times where the game felt cheap as there was a stun that didn’t allow me to move to another part of the map.

As for the final boss, he is 100% supa sick. However some of his indicators could be more visible as it took me a sew tries to understand what I was supposed to do.
