The mechanics are very simple & straightforward. You play rock~paper~scissors to engage fights (translated in game as Hit-Counter-grab) while trying to throw the opponent of the stage (smash alike) or trigger an in-stage fatality with all the various elements existing within each one. Also Expect to mash like never before since going for the same button as your opponent will force you both to mash fest punch button, with the fastest thump being the winner! KAKATE KOI

The game still feels somewhat unfinished, but they actually fixed the combat so that it’s fun again. That, and the amazing mod support means that I can’t but recommend the game. It’s a bit pricey, but it offers some of the most satisfying melee combat ever seen in a game. Perhaps even more satisfying than Dark Souls or the like. Despite it’s tragic state after a ridiculously long development time, it’s a cult classic and one of my favorite games for a simple reason; The combat is so good. It’s my go-to I-wanna-clap-some-people-to-death-or-die-trying game. If you love melee action combat games like me, you can’t pass this game.

Amazing. I got this from Humble Monthly, installed it, and in one sitting completed the main story. Now it’s 3 in the morning and I’m writing a review. The main story is indeed 3 hours long, but it held my attention by being so fun to play and look at that it passed by way too fast! I haven’t gotten to try the other 2 stories yet, but I can say a few things about the game, and from now on, I’ll be referencing the main story.

The good:

  • Movement: it’s amazing. There’s so many ways to get around, it feels so fluid to get from place to place, and the best part: Moving around is FUN! If I can have fun just getting from place to place, it’s a game I’ll enjoy. I’ve seen a couple reviews saying that the movement doesn’t do what you want it to do, but I just don’t see that in this game. Everything is spot on. Whenever the character did something wrong, it was always my fault, not the game.

To be honest when I first saw this game I ignored it but After a while when I was looking for FTP games I found this again and decided to give it a try with some of my friends and boy did I have a blast I’ve been playing it for a while now and this game is a great way to just sit back and enjoy a fighting game rather than having to go full try hard but not just that it’s also great to play with friends especially if you want to take your anger out on them by beating the crap out of them it’s honestly really fun and people should try it out more

You ignorant children whining about the bugs are spoiled little brats…… its a beta people…. bound to have bugs and will…. OUR job is to help by letting them know so they can fix it quick and move forward with content or whatever…… you ignorant children are giving negative reviews for no reason in my opinion. I spotted two bugs …. sent it in to the devs within an hour it was adjusted and or fixed. So learn to do reviews properly and with dignity, because you look foolish. GREAT GAME SO FAR DEVS KEEP IT UP!

Cube Conflict

Cube Conflict

Cube Conflict is a free and open-source FPS where smileys are at war without mercy.

  • 20 weapons from the most rotten to the most cheated!

  • 15 stupid classes to play, from the kamikaze to the junkie or the ninja!

  • 6 themed maps, from the moon with reduced gravity to the volcano and its molten lava

  • Dozens of possibilities to customize your avatar with capes, graves, smileys, etc.

  • 100% free, all skins can be unlocked while playing!

Weapons you said?

Little guns are for kiddies. Nothing like a portable GAU-8, a little bit of atomic bomb, and a rocket minigun!

Class system

Doctor, Soldier? For newbies. No doubt you would rather be a Kamikaze to blow yourself up and kill all the enemies around you or even a wizard to cast magic spells!

Useful(?) items

Ok, you can die fast, but you should be able to escape death with one power armor and multiple drugs!

Maps (for real!)

Incredible there are maps on this game! So, everyone knows rocket jump right? Well, try it on the moon.

A lot of skins

You can look like a badass… or an idiot. But mostly an idiot. Since you’re gonna die (a lot) we added different graves! Like a nice poop for the noobs and gold ingots for the richest players.

To be honest this game is definitely not for everyone. If you would like to get into this game you have to spend a lot of time raising your understanding. The reason why I recommend it though is because it is actually a decent game. Probably 80% of beginners will stop playing before they get past black belt just because they feel very restrained by what they can do. In some ways this is true, but the limit to what you can do is many, many times greater than what people (beginners) think. Watching the Tori Legends as you first open the game can make you feel discouraged as you can’t even do a flip properly. It can takes YEARS in some cases to polish your skills to that level, and even then you may still not be able to do as good as you hoped because this game really depends on the mindset of the player. The physics of this game are difficult to understand and get use to. At moments you feel that you’re flying way to high to do your tricking/sparring or that your body just got 20x heavier and stopped half way through a flip. You need to understand every little effect that each joint does. People (beginners) really underestimate most of the joints just because they are not skilled/experienced enough to use them properly. This is what changes the effect of your physics and understanding of situations. Suddenly your flips and and hand spring landings are getting smoother, faster, and lower to the ground. Your vision of how you see your joints and shadow are completely overhauled. Your arsenal of moves are multiplied to an unimaginable number. You see improved and more efficient ways of overcoming a landing or counter that didn’t seem possible when you first started. Eventually you steadily become a pro at visualizing foreshadows, predictions, and problem solving. You never really realize how much you improve because it almost always felt with you.

Let me get right to the point and say I love this game. When I first started out about a year ago I felt like a toddler learning to walk, and I admit, it was a bit frustrating. Then I turned to Youtube. I learned a few basic aikido and judo (two different mods/game modes in the game) opening moves and from there my results sky-rocketted. I was flooring noobs left and right until I got to the intermediate level where (most) every player had a rudimentary understanding of how to move in the game then it was fairly evenly matched and I quickly got over myself.

The best platform figther in the business next only to Melee. Crazy movement and mechanics with a low enough skill floor for newcomers and an insane skill ceilling that seems to only get higher the further the meta goes on.

This is probably one of my favorite Smash clones out of all of them for now. Not only is the game play, the crossovers, and content, but for the encouragement for workshop support. Modding is one of the main reasons why people even play SSB Brawl still, and for good reason. More content, unexpected characters to play as, and more variety.

Ever since workshop has released during beta and since the making of this review, 5000+ creations ranging from new characters, stages, and more have been released, slowly and surely improving as time progresses. Not only that, but workshop is very optimized for categorizing different characters per series or creator and how it loads them up to not overfill the game.

120 hrs in, multiple wonderful updates, even a youtube video I made on it- I cannot recommend this game more. The modding scene can add pretty much anything you want- from dark souls weapons, to a m4 rifle you can build and customize by hand (well, depending on your game version due to modders needing time to update).

But even with that, I find myself removing my mods every now and then just to experience the base game again, it’s so good. I love what I saw one reviewer say, good for those in retail. Definitely a plus for me being in mostly customer service XD

This game needs some time to get used to. But once you are familiar with it’s mechanics it is great fun and allows a lot of experimentation. Also mods are supported and only get destroyed if cool new content is released. The new dungeon mode also offers a lot of new value.

DEAD OR ALIVE 5 Last Round: Core Fighters

DEAD OR ALIVE 5 Last Round: Core Fighters

I love this game, but I’m not going to recommend it without severe reservations. The base is an excellent fighter, but the port is worse than the console versions in so many ways. Many of those ways concern the online multiplayer part of the game though, so if you’ve got a bunch of friends in your area to play this with they might not be so much of an issue.

I’m going to split this in two sections; the base game and the platform comparison. Scroll down if you want to read in what ways it’s worse (and better) than the PS4 version.

This is a difficult game for me to review.

In general, I fucking love the Dead or Alive games.

The fighting engine was classically fast and skillful without requiring knowledge of enjoyment-obliterating exploits or skin peelingly long sessions of practice to get to a basic level of gameplay.

Though it will historically be known as the series that boldly upheld the grand tradition of cheesecake and beefcake heavy character designs, the actual fighting system of advantage and reversal is much deeper in scope than nearly all of its peers, and spreading out the lengthy character movesets across less buttons means its easier for an unpracticed player picking up the controls for the first time to feel like they’re accomplishing something beyond just marveling at the various buff studly men and hot sassy ladies.

DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2

DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2

A game I have over 700 hours in, made youtube content for and have semi retired from touching now. What do I think of it? It’s all over the place frankly. Some things it does right and others it does awfully, but ultimately it’s the brand name and the concept that keeps it going with players even now.

It’s another 3d arena anime fighter on the surface, but also an action rpg in disguise, It’s one of the few anime properties in the world which is so well known that some don’t even see it even as anime anymore, that’s how normalised it is.

I’m writing this review after the latest DLC that was released. Legendary Pack 2, granting us quite a few new characters, some awesome Skills, and more. The story isn’t bad and from the cliffhanger, it’s not quite done yet… which I’m not sure if it’s distressing or comforting. I love this game, probably more than any other Dragon Ball game that I’ve played. I don’t do PvP for my own personal reasons, but the PvE with PQ’s, the main story, the side stories. It’s all so much fun. But one thing I will say, is maybe it’s time to put the old girl to sleep.

STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy™

STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy™

Probably one of the best Star Wars games out there, in between Republic Commando and Battlefront II of course. This was from a long forgotten era of games where the developers cared about what they were doing, and greed wasn’t as prominent as it is today.

Made by Raven Softworks, Jedi Academy is the 4th installment of the Jedi series of games, and the last in the series. At the time this game was considered more or less an expansion to Jedi Outcasts rather than its own game. Because of this the initial sales for the game on release weren’t amazing, and critics were pretty harsh on it, but like a lot of old movies and games it has managed to build up a cult following surrounding it years later.

Real player with 53.4 hrs in game

you know, i have to say. i own this game and Jedi Outcast on cd, and have put 1000’s of hours into both of them. they are amongst my favorite starwars games, ever made. get them, and play them, and don’t forget to use dismemberment cheats in outcast, and a dismemberment mod for academy, (also rebind force pull to mouse wheel down, and force push to mouse wheel up.) What enabling dismemberment in these games does, is remove the hitbox during saber swings, and instead, have the samer constantly do near insta kill damage to anything it hits. therfore, you keep the animations from swings, but they become more diverse, allowing you to use the animations in unique ways to hit enemies all around you. it also affects enemy jedi the same way, making saber duels much like the movies, first one to get hit, loses something. add in a plethera of fun cheats, and the game never gets old. Never before have you felt like such a legitimate jedi. with all the powers available to you, there is so much that you can do, you’ll never want to stop playing. Imagine being able to ligning a room full of baddies into a corner, or backflip shop a guys head clean off, or force push a rocket back into someones face. well you can. but you can do more than that. Try force choking a tough enemy, jumping 3 stories into the air, and force pushing them upwards so high, that the fall kills them shortly after you land. Try slowing down time with force speed, and running around with a rocket launcher, firing one shot at everyone in a room, then speeding up time again to watch them all die at once. Try dueling an enemy jedi with dismemberment on. try turning off enemy targeting in the console, along with noclipping, and setting up unique encounters with enemies in levels you’ve allready played. you can even set up boss fights as you play through the game over, and over again. try spawining in a bunch of enemy sith in the next area, then going back where you were, and spawing in a ton of friendly jedi. then you adventure into the craziest battles you’ve ever seen, and i cant stress this enough, with dismemberment, these fights are thrilling and nuts. try accidently cutting off your allies head, or watching a sith do the same. try force choke, into backflip insta kill. try everything.
