Picked this up earlier, and found it to be quite fun. It’s similar to the old Megaman Battle Network series for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance, a series I used to love a lot. It’s fast paced with unique mechanics, as well as mixing in some old ones with a unique twist such as the CRUSH system(Think guard break from other fighter games). It’s a bit different from Battle Network 6 in terms of combat pacing, but you have a lot more weapons you can use to control the battlefield as well as your deck being more consistent since you have access to all 12 weapons in your deck all the time, with cooldowns for differing levels and weapons.

If you want a game that plays similarly to Battle Network, then EndCycle VS is the game for you. I know I’ve been having a blast with it in the 109 hours I’ve already clocked in at the point of this review.

First and foremost, this game offers a very unique twist to the Battle Network “grid fighter” formula, by replacing the Battle Chips you would burn through with VOC’s that you can keep on hand at all times. Sure, you’re more limited when it comes to how many you can use during a battle, but that’s why you have three different sets you can shift through in the middle of the fight and change up your play style on the fly. It takes some getting used to, though. Even now, I’m still trying to get used to it, though that’s due in part by most of my time being eaten up getting into modding rather than the competitive scene, but I’ll get on to that subject later.

Huge Change:

They removed the Draft feature that triggered every time you levelled up your character in a match… The single most important distinguishing feature that made this card game what it was for me and unique among the others.

Huge thumbs down for me, I had grown to love this game mainly due to the excitement of drafting at each level up. Without that, the game is as good as dead for me and not much different to other card games out there. Will still give it a chance, but I cannot express enough how disappointed I am in this and how much i disapprove this change.

After over 140 hours and almost 2 months playing it, It has interesting concepts but some serious downfalls.

Pros

A - Trying to Encourage Player Participation

This seems like a good idea that has been tried in different ways in other card games, just that by now I would have expected people to learn from those previous games and have guidelines to avoid mistakes made before.

B - Both Single and Multiplayer

Card games with both seem to do better than those with only 1 except for either modern roguelike games (Slay the Spire, Iris and the Giant, etc.) or older games from years ago when multiplayer was more rare (original Magic: The Gathering from 1997, etc.).

Nadir - Prologue: Slay the Six

Nadir - Prologue: Slay the Six

Nadir - the point on the celestial sphere directly below an observer. It’s the direct opposite of the zenith… and your destination.

GAME DESCRIPTION: 🔥

Nadir - Prologue: Slay the Six is a free prologue to the dark deckbuilding roguelike adventure, with its artwork burning of infernal fire, and many extraordinary inspirations, the deepest of them coming straight from Dante’s Divine Comedy.

Control powerful, yet extremely blemished teams of characters, each representing one of the deadly sins. Fight using a plethora of unholy cards and try to escape the seemingly endless, multi-layered city.

TWIST ON A TURN SYSTEM 🔥

The Threat Counter shows how powerful the enemy’s attacks will become. There is no limit of played cards, but each of them adds points to the Threat Counter, so you’ll have to manage your risk-taking.

CHARACTER-BASED DECK BUILDING 🔥

Each character on your team contributes to your main deck; find synergies between each Sinner’s cards and build a dream (or nightmare) team.

CONTROL YOUR SINS 🔥

Every Sin has its own group of Sinners, shells that will bring its will to Nadir. As the sinners’ journey progresses, their power will grow, unlocking new abilities to fight even stronger threats. And if they shall fall, the abyss will produce more fools to try.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN APPROACH 🔥

Do you prefer raw damage or a more cunning way of poison? There is a multitude of different card effects to choose from. But remember that the enemy will attack you back, so you better look for cards that will decrease the Threat Counter.

CHALLENGING BOSSES 🔥

Each level of Nadir has its own Floor Guardian that you will have to defeat in order to go deeper into the city. But be careful, each of them has a unique ability!

REACH THE BOTTOM OF NADIR 🔥

This goal seems simple, but considering the characteristics of Sins, will they be able to divide the power between them?

A JOURNEY UNLIKE ANY OTHER 🔥

Watch your back on your way to the bottom of Nadir, taking time to admire its horrific look. It might feel familiar – from the wonders of the Divine Comedy, to desaturated aesthetics of Sin City, to the unforgettable design of Hellboy – yet not comfortable at all.

MODDING SUPPORT 🛠️

Devil’s in the detail and that’s why Nadir offers a built-in, extensive modding support for those who want to expand the world of Nadir and imprint their twisted fantasies onto every inch of the game.

Erannorth Reborn

Erannorth Reborn

I’ll start with the base game itself and tackle modding later on in the review despite it being my favorite part of the game. While modding is a major focus of the game it’s not what you expect to be paying for right off the bat.

First up, gameplay. There is an open world game mode that I haven’t played much of (yet) and thus won’t be talking about. The core game mode is the rogue-like card-based rpg formula we’re all familiar with by now. There are a great deal of difficulties and game modes such as draft in the base game letting you have your own variety. These game modes will set you on a journey across Folkswave, the area of focus within the setting, where you will hopefully but almost certainly not find success. On this journey you’re certain to make friends, find loot, kill monsters, explore the unexplored, and generally have a great time.

TLDR: Thumbs up for a very complex card battle game with rpg-like character customization and alot of depth. Though there is alot to learn from card text and tags, this game is an addictive hidden gem: 9/10.

This review is long because I was frustrated trying to learn about the game when I started. So I wanted to talk about what approach worked best for me.

At first the game felt linear, but there were so many abilities to discover that I didn’t mind it. Monsters are fairly diverse too as you move across stages. Plus there are events that give you choices. Eventually though it started to feel just a little repetitive, but that was only because I didn’t understand all the different game modes. Each mode has 3 tiers of difficulty so it’s easy to get locked into wanting to see how far you can survive through the tiers.

So far I am disappointed in this game. From the store page this game looked promising but after purchase you discover there isn’t much interesting and very few options that can be found to play the game. I feel like the $9.99 i spent on this game is way to much for the limitation this game has.

Gremlins, Inc. – Card Game

Gremlins, Inc. – Card Game

This original digital card game offers intense sessions for 2 to 6 players. At the core of gameplay lie two key mechanics: “hand management” and “take that”.

SET IN THE WORLD OF GREMLINS, INC.

The game is set in the world of corrupt capitalist gremlins of the future, the setting that’s already familiar to the tabletop community from the digital board game Gremlins, Inc. .

This card game is a standalone game with its own original set of rules and mechanics, and does not require ownership or previous experience with the previously released digital board game.

BUILD PROJECTS WHILE ATTACKING OTHERS AND DEFENDING YOUR OWN ACHIEVEMENTS

The sessions are played for score and for rounds. The player with the highest score at the end of the session wins. Build temporary and permanent projects, play instant action cards and camouflage your plans from the opponents while preparing your attacks.

SINGLE-PLAYER AND MULTIPLAYER MODES

The sessions typically last between 20 and 60 minutes. The game supports single-player and multiplayer modes, including peer to peer sessions as well as games played on the official servers, and allows to play with different decks.

PROVEN BY REAL-LIFE SESSIONS

Before we set to make it into a digital game, this project existed as a real-life card game enjoyed around the world in 6 languages.

A VIBRANT COMMUNITY AND A PUBLIC ROADMAP

We release this card game under the Early Access program as we’ll be expanding and modifying it based on the community feedback. The roadmap includes such features as team mode, ranked sessions and the support of Steam Workshop.

Necronator: Dead Wrong

Necronator: Dead Wrong

With almost 15 hours under my belt, here’s my thoughts.

The game is setup in an RTS meets deck-builder. This gives the game a different feel than your straight up deck builders (like Slay the Spire or Banners of Ruin). Since the battle is semi-automated, you just have to manage your resources. But don’t call it easy, because there is a great challenge sometimes in keeping up with the various levels; especially with the “survive for xxx seconds” maps.

You get commanders with different playstyles. One is a straight-up combat deck and the other is a toy-box style deck with few normal units. You can also unlock alternate decks for the commanders for even more variation at the start. The upgrade paths for the cards can be a bit random, so the rogue-like element is there and can either flummox you or really help you.

Real player with 88.6 hrs in game

Mostly fun game, has some fairly obnoxious/punishing game mechanics.

For starters, there are a decent number of relics (items that effect everything, usually based on some criteria) that give you some strong boosts if you have fielded less than 6 units. Then half the game is spent playing against enemies who get to make a card in your hand useless every few seconds if you have less than 10 (will be lowing to 6 according to the roadmap) units on the field. Do you want to try and field a small but strong elite army if the relics line up right? Good luck when you have to wait for mana to regen and by that point there is a solid chance that your card gets ‘silenced’. Silenced isnt just some minor condition that can be fixed, its a card in your hand that now CANT DO ANYTHING. The only way to get rid of it is to redraw your hand, which can cost from free (if you wait long enough and are playing the toy maker) to 40 mana (of which you only get 100 from the base hero).
