Avalon: Sacred Crusade

Avalon: Sacred Crusade

“Beware the schemes of mortal men. For all the shortness of their lives, they lust to leave their mark. Before this hubris, even the Gods can be tumbled.” - Merlin the Outcast

To some, Avalon is an idea, a myth, an ideal, perfection; it is a place outside of time or space, an eternal edifice. To others, it is home. The Avalonians share much with Humanity, but one cannot remain in Avalon for long without becoming something… else. Long ago, in the forgotten age of The Migration, the Covenant was formed: the bridges between realms would be closed.

Their greatest criminals, however, continued to be cast out forever to languish in the mundane realm. Some lived as Oracles, Saints, or Wizards. Others we remember in legends of darkness: Sorcerers, Shapeshifters, Blood-drinkers, scattered across time.

Now though, the realms grow close once again, the veil between them weakening by unknown machinations. The Grail has been stolen, and without it, evils long buried are rising in ever greater numbers. The call to battle has gone out for the first time in this age, and many have answered it. These new defenders of the ancient Covenant must not fail, for the fate of both realms now hangs in the balance.

A Blast From the Past

Return to an era before all stats were homogenized into just health and mana. Avalon: Sacred Crusade takes heavy inspiration from popular RPG titles of the 1990s and features rich character customization that allows you to select your character’s origin, attributes, spells, and equipment.

No easy recoveries or quick wins here. Deal with a classic death penalty system where you drop your items on the ground and need to retrieve them. Experience what it was truly like to play early MMORPGs and graphical MUDs.

You may choose to adventure alone, however, the game features a robust party system which allows up to six players to work together in the same group. For the best experience, bring your friends - or make new ones in the game!

An Authentic Retro Experience

Listen to classic 16-bit Sound Blaster effects while you slash away at pre-rendered 2D sprites. You can experience all of this without the usual hassle of running a retro game on a modern system. Avalon: Sacred Crusade will run on any DirectX 10 capable PC!

FINAL FANTASY® XI: Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition

This game is not for everyone. Many people coming from other MMOs seem to often misunderstand that the design of FFXI is simply made with a philosophy that is quite different. Consequently, this seems to lead some to go into it expecting the game to try and accomplish a lot of the goals that are now standard in the genre. I believe this unfortunately sours the experience for many. Nevertheless, if you are willing to set aside your notions of what MMOs should be and do, there is a great experience waiting for you in FFXI.

Idk where to begin or how to end on this review. Ima just try to make it short (Maybe it will be long) and simple. Btw my main character name is “Ghostmonkey”, for those who want to add me.

The Pros:

-The game does indeed have a good amount of players, if you know which server to join.

Asura is the one for non-japanese players and most populated.

So don’t be discouraged to buy the game if you are concerned about the game being dead.

-Another note is how friendly the community is. I started in my first 2 and a half minutes and already approached by a veteran.

The game is dying. Devs are making feeble attempts at re-vitalizing it but it’s just much too late. For too long there were zero communication with them, for too long they haven’t been playing their own game. Just look at this steam page - when was it last updated, 6 years ago? Fixing LotRO requires rebuilding some systems from ground-up and nobody does this to a 10 year old game.

The main problem with LotRO today is that it’s BORING AS FUUUUUUUUUCK. Even earlygame is spoiled somehow. I can point my finger at auto-learned skills and quests that don’t need turning in. You just feel disconnected from the world.

If you’re a Tolkien fan, you should love this. It’s a lot of fun seeing how much care and attention has gone into recreating the world of middle earth.

As an MMO, it is one of the best ones out. It is certainly more geared to solo players, but does a good job of catering to everyone. The classes range from basic to some of the most advanced and interesting classes I’ve ever seen in an MMO. (Take Warden or LoreMaster for example)! The community is also one of the friendliest and the servers are still busy and alive to this day. It has stood the test of time and still looks astonishingly beautiful as ever. Add to all that it has fantastic mood setting music you’ve got a class A product. Many players simply can’t stop at a single character and over the years I have kept on coming back to this game. Without a doubt my favourite MMO ever. It’s also great to see the dedication of Standing Stone in keeping their work alive and keeping lotro safe for the future years with a decent, not overly greedy free to play system. Much of the content can be enjoyed for free and extras can be bought as required. The only time you may consider spending money is to open up quest packs in different regions and expansion packs. But considering the size and amount of time you could foreseeably spend in this masterpiece, it is well worth it!

The game has much promise, but pains me to where I have to thumbs down the game.

Here is the scoop so far, as I reached level 100:

Pros:

+Charming graphics.

+Interesting combat physics.

Cons:

-Soundtrack, please allow me to mute music and not the game entirely. its mind numbing

-1 to 2 shot enemies.

-Enemies don’t attack you, I mean some do.. some don’t.

-Has a glitch with the quests where you can level up with the same quest.

-No shops, although you have all this gold?

-Kill 1 enemy, and return to NPC. Repeat. There is a story for ya..

I imagined this to be so much more than what it was. after 1 hour of gameplay i was level 52 with no sort of rewarding feeling or feeling of progression. playing as a knight you literally hit monster once, turn in quest. do it again. lol. im sorry this is an mmo for a 5 year old. i understand this is early access but i mean this is the most lack luster game ive ever experienced. i have over 250 health potions that will never need to be used and enhancement stones with no way of even using them.

Game is not worth the $20. it reminds me of phantasy star online a little that was one of the reasons I wanted to get it. upon playing I had to make changes to how the character would walk to w,a,s,d. upon wanting to run my own server which is cool that we can do that for this mmorpg but the player base is really small or not even there. I wanted to run my own server with custom configs for exp, drop rate and other things but there is not really any guides that would tell you how. asking in the forums how to make changes to exp, drop rate and so on won’t get you anywhere.

A great Demo to decide whether you gonna buy and subbing the actual game (Some Country / Region may not have access to the full edition via steam, for example Indonesia. So it’s better to start free trial from the official website https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com or https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com & buy the full game there) OR chilling for its early contents, PVP and have fun in “Gold Saucer”.

Free trial has few restriction and quite heavily in social functions, mostly to prevent RMT (Real money trading) in the game.

If you ever played Final Fantasty XI, you will feel right at home with this MMO. This game is essentially the spiritual successor of of Square’s previous MMO, but re-labeled, re-jigged and re-adjusted to be an excellent MMO in the modern world.

Aside from the usual quality-of-life features one would expect in today’s era (rested exp, dungeon-party-finder, fast travel, etc), there are a few uncommon, but incredibly well-executed features of this game.

1- In-depth main story: This game has a very long, main campaign that will take you across it’s beautifully designed world in a JRPG-esque story. It starts off simple, then gets very grand and epic in scale, pulling you more into the world, the longer you play. Other MMO’s have stories, but very few of them are as well-executed, or even emphasized like this game does.

I think this game has a ton of potential. There is a lot of work that needs to be done. At roughly 100 hours I’m wrapping up basically everything you can do in this game so… But to me 10 dollars for 100 hours is a steal.

I find the top review ridicolous on multiple levels, otherwise I wouldn’t bother writing one myself. I will try my best to make it stand on it’s own.

This is a puzzle, adventure and exploration built on grind, trade and fight that varies in difficulty based on your intellect, based on the choices you make regularly.

For starters(this all will only be a start), you have the choice to gather any combination of materials, to craft hundreds of variations of gear.

That means traveling shoes with work gloves or traveling gloves with work shoes.

Real player with 307.8 hrs in game

For the first fifteen levels or so, this game is a cozy, single-player, free-to-play PvE RPG experience, and the community will likely help if you encounter any issues. That much I can recommend trying: it should give you a good idea of whether or not you’d enjoy the game long-term.

Nevertheless, the foundation of the game has several major flaws:

  1. Completing quests requires that you max level all adventure skills: such as subterfuge, academics, perception, etc. You can’t specialize. So, even though the game advertises the freedom to level however you want, in the long run there’s no real choice, because you need -all- the skills. Increasing your primary level also provides no choices. It increases your HP, and perhaps most notably, causes lower-level mobs to ignore you.
