Lords of the Shattered Kingdom

Lords of the Shattered Kingdom

I’m a PVE type player. I don’t enjoy playing against other players, because almost always there is someone better than me just around the corner. And I’d rather enjoy fighting the environment.

I’m 49 hours into this game, still happily grinding away. For those that played the Heroes of Might and Magic games, the base building games, this is close to it. Except more detailed in the army management/equiping. The graphics are rather basic, but I can see that being fixed easily as they go.

For the current $5 cost of the game, it’s well worth it. And as the special currency is currently set, that’s not an issue, though I understand that will change.

I cautiously recommend this game only if you can look past its shortcomings. I have been playing since ~2008 when I was only 12yr old.

The Good:

There is something about this game that can get you addicted like no other. The player base is very close (admittedly also rather small) and everybody knows everyone else and that makes the community very strong. You can create your own team join a team (aka clan, faction, country) and take control of start systems and use the resources within them to build ships, weapons, space stations, and become an industrial powerhouse. But you better be prepared to defend what you own. Much like a country in real life, your team could become a true superpower with all the fame and infamy that comes with it. You can exercise your hard and soft power as you see fit. Politics are very real in this game and I love it. Likewise, if you upset too many players they may declare war against you. Every solar system you own and space station you build is at risk. In a worse case scenario you could lose all of your territory, all of your industry, and be forced to surrender which almost always results in the death of said team. This is something I really like about this game. You have a lot of freedom and the choices you make can make you insanely rich, respected, and powerful. But you could lose it all.

TLDR - A decade+ after the game’s initial launch there is still nothing else quite like Star Sonata on the market today.

The game is heavily influenced by the Star Control series and combines 90’s style arcade action with MMO character development and an almost limitless item progression that rivals many modern MMOs. It has in-depth base building that is basically a whole different game unto itself where you can make money doing colonies, making gear, selling industrial commodities and more. The PvE content is typically fun and offers a variety of solo and group style engagements.. The PvP and team vs team combat probably needs the most improvement but the game doesn’t really revolve around those.

I find the top review ridicolous on multiple levels, otherwise I wouldn’t bother writing one myself. I will try my best to make it stand on it’s own.

This is a puzzle, adventure and exploration built on grind, trade and fight that varies in difficulty based on your intellect, based on the choices you make regularly.

For starters(this all will only be a start), you have the choice to gather any combination of materials, to craft hundreds of variations of gear.

That means traveling shoes with work gloves or traveling gloves with work shoes.

For the first fifteen levels or so, this game is a cozy, single-player, free-to-play PvE RPG experience, and the community will likely help if you encounter any issues. That much I can recommend trying: it should give you a good idea of whether or not you’d enjoy the game long-term.

Nevertheless, the foundation of the game has several major flaws:

  1. Completing quests requires that you max level all adventure skills: such as subterfuge, academics, perception, etc. You can’t specialize. So, even though the game advertises the freedom to level however you want, in the long run there’s no real choice, because you need -all- the skills. Increasing your primary level also provides no choices. It increases your HP, and perhaps most notably, causes lower-level mobs to ignore you.

Base building system never seen in survival games, extremely intuitive with a logic similar to the real world. And against a magnificent work, there will always be a big explosion through a spectacular invasion, with explosives.

Equipping a vehicle with armor and a war weapon in the body will be incredible. Much more than a simple vehicle for exploration, but a real “war machine” modified and prepared for combat.

Wide variety of customizable weapons for all tastes, as well as accessories and explosives that will not let the war end. Based on an innovative group formation system, which will provide absolutely tactical and dynamic battles.

HPRZ is being developed by gamers from the community itself, and fans of games of the survival genre. Therefore, we will always be aiming for a balance between logic and reality, where success in the evolution of the game will be based on dedication and a spirit of survival, as ideal for our players.

Feudal Lands

Feudal Lands

About This Game

You make sail toward an uncharted destination — a feudal land of cabals, conflict, and conquest. As an unwashed peasant with no lands nor riches, you never imagined yourself a conqueror. Yet this new world beckons, calling you to break free of your lowborn bonds and become something greater. But to claim this destiny, you must first survive.

Feudal Lands is a multiplayer survival game intended to give players an authentic experience of what life what like during the medieval age, while also incorporating elements of roleplay and real-time strategy. Players can build castles and villages, explore a realistic open world, and cooperate or feud with the other opposing player kingdoms of the land.

Features

Crafting and Professions

If you hope to survive this world of danger and strife, you must first prepare yourself. Players will have an advanced crafting system with hundreds of items at their disposal. This includes tools, weapons, armor, building structures, and more — all of which can be upgraded to higher quality tier levels based on professional skill and the required materials. Players may choose from professions such as Blacksmithing, Engineering, Farming, Alchemy, Enchanting, and more. There is no limit to the number of professions a player may learn.

Customizable Building

One of the best aspects of survival sandbox games is designing a defensible and attractive home base. Players will be able to claim a plot of land and build any way they want, as long as their structures adhere to the rules of physics. This will encourage players to build intelligently as they apply crossbeams and other building pieces to support structural appeal and realism. Building parts can be upgraded up to five tiers of quality, starting as wattle and ending with brick. There will also be several unique building parts for our more creative and strategic players, such as trapdoors.

Engaging Siege Warfare

The exterior wall is your first line of defense; you must not let it fall! Players can declare war against other kingdoms and lay siege to their castle in an epic battle for conquest. Invading players must build a siege camp outside their walls to craft siege weapons, which will start a timer for both sides to prepare for war. Once the timer expires, the defending kingdom will become vulnerable to attack.

Procedurally Generated Dungeons

Grab your allies and prepare to enter randomly generated dungeons, each run offering various routes and rooms to explore. But be wary, for some paths are more dangerous than others. These instances are one of the few areas where players can take on more powerful enemies for a chance at higher quality items and rewards.

Tournaments and Arena

Prove yourself a worthy combatant in the Ring of Carnage, a bloody arena where only one may claim the title of “Vanquisher”. Tournaments are divided into regionals, with each regional winner passing on to the Ultimate World tournament to compete for the Grand Prize. Players can compete in events such as archery, jousting, melee combat, and more. Players can also spectate from the stands and place bets on who they believe will reign as champion. The winner will have their likeness preserved in stone; their statue displayed at the Tournament Grounds until the next competition.

Diversified Questing

What is a medieval open world without a little adventure? Players may embark on a variety of quests that will reward gold, experience, and more. Quests will not be limited to simply killing a certain number of creatures or gathering a certain number of items. These journeys will vary in length, effort, and objective, so players can engage in the story rather than performing the same task over and over.

Villagers

The townspeople serve an important purpose in Feudal Lands; they are the bread and butter of your kingdom, offering labor, trade skills, and quests in return for your protection. Villagers can be recruited from Refugee Caravans to come work and live beside you in their village.

Taming

Wild animals can pose a dangerous threat, but they can also make even greater allies. Players will be able to tame a wide variety of creatures for different purposes, with each offering its own unique talents. Tamed animals possess non-combat abilities and are rather intended to aid your kingdom by performing certain tasks, such as oxen tilling the fields or hawks hunting plague-infested rats.

Trade Market

Each server offers a trade market where players can barter or sell their goods in exchange for gold. Money can also be earned by completing quests, slaying enemies, sacking kingdoms, and more.

Cosmetics Shop

Feudal Lands will have an in-game shop where players can unlock cosmetic options for armor, weapons, building structures, etc. These items are not pay-to-win and will provide no real benefit to gameplay, besides allowing you to look your best as you fight with style.

I stumbled upon this game while taking a look through early access titles. The first thing that caught my eye was that it is survival. The second thing that really peaked my curiosity was spiri animals. What, are you kidding me?! Who does that?! How could that work?! Well, let me tell you, I was immediately engrossed in the visually pleasing artistry and placement of all the points of interest giving it a realistic feel which we all try to find in these MMO’s. You can roam this huge map for hours and you’ll see something new every time. There is always something to do as in any survival game, it’s hard not to get distracted! Weather you like solo play or group play, pvp or pve, exploring or building, this is the game for you! The Developers are always interactive and enjoy playing right along side even the newbies so you don’t need to be a high lvl to be noticed! Now, with that said, I won’t go into obvious details which every new game, especially early access, about what I don’t like about Spirit Animal Survival because negatives are to be expected and my likes, or loves rather, outweigh the things that are still being worked on. It is, after all, a work in progress. Look, all I’m trying to say is, stop reading this already and come in, enjoy some great company with friendly people and have some fun! If you’re waiting for the invite, well, this is it! Don’t hesitate, I hear the sale price will be ending soon! Also wanted to add, if you’re concerned with the minimum requirements, I know it says min i5, I’m running an i3 with the only real issues being in the loading and shutting down, the game play is practically flawless! Don’t let that be what scared you away, let it be that big bad T-Rex that one shot you!

Before I write my thoughts, I saw someone post false information that I’d like to correct. You actually CAN report bugs without having to use a 3rd party chat software called Discord. There is a big box in the main menu (as seen in one of the videos above) that clearly states you can report bugs by contacting them via their email at support@spiritanimalsurvival.com - if the forum or Discord is not your way to go, there is always that solution for you.

Now on to my actual thoughts of this game in its current state! Spirit Animal Survival (SAS) is another survival game with some unique elements in it. The features you expect in a survival game are there, you need to go get resources, craft and build, while trying to stay alive by eating, drinking and not letting others/animals kill you. You got to do a bit of grinding but that’s part of the games in this genre. The most unique feature of the game is that you can transform/morph into a spirit animal. There is a bunch of them and all of them have their own attacks/features. This does set the game apart from other survival games that I have played. You can see how this work in the videos above.

Long time player’s review of Xsyon

Buy To Play No Sub - I say this here because a lot of people do not understand this.

This game has been in early access for 10 years. It’s been worked on by pretty much 1 person for that long, before early access they had a team but they seem to have cut that down since releasing it into early access.

I’ve played this game a lot. There are 2 servers PVP and PVE. PVP server is pretty much dead and really no reason to play on it as it does not have anything that would support PVP play.

THis isn’t a game that has you learning everything in a couple of hours. This game is a GRINDER. IF you want to buy it make sure you realise that you need to put some work into it to enjoy it. It’s NOT for people who have no paitence.

Read the latest reviews. Players who have invested more than a couple of hours into this game come to realise how enjoyable it is. The screenshots show what you can achieve but that won’t happen in a couple of hours. Maybe a couple of days or three if you join an active tribe or put in the work.

Fallout 76

Fallout 76

Bought this game on sale just over a month ago, i have around 420 hours played, it’s an enjoyable and infuriating game in equal parts, if you’ve played any fallout/elderscrolls games you know what to expect gameplay/bugs wise, it has enough random events to keeps things interesting although they do get repetitive eventually and some places have random things happening each time you go to them such as npcs chatting, random vendors, battles between different ai’s an so on which makes the game both enjoyable and a pain in the rear, especially if you are looking for a specific companion/power armor an such, leveling an skill tree can be abit confusing at first but once you get used to it the cards system isn’t too bad (legendary cards level ups are a joke)

Sucks at being a Fallout game.

Sucks at being a MMO.

They make it appear the game can be played without Fallout 1st but no. Not really. Not how to expect a fallout game to play. Imagine you had a workshop in your garage and you bought 10 2x4s to build something but even though you own that garage (the game) and paid money for it… you was told by the city you cannot store that wood in there, to throw out everything else in it just to store 10 pieces of wood. That would be your life playing FO76 if you tried to play without subscription, just 20x worse than i’m making it sound.
