Marble Mage

Marble Mage

this game has me hooked. super fun and unique charge mechanic sets it apart from other marble games, while working extremely well. as a speedrunner, it opens up TONS of cool tech, and it’s enjoyable casually as well. controls very well, just takes a bit of getting used to. the star system encourages the player to explore different ways of playing the game (raw speed vs collecting crystals), the level design is really fun, the music is jammin', and your character is just a cute lil cat fella!

any cons i could think of really just pertain to the lack of options when it comes to display/audio. it’d also be nice to be able to navigate menus with the controller. but that’s not really taking away from the gameplay itself, which is superb. and at $3 for 60 levels, you’re basically robbing the game devs. GET THIS GAME

A lovely game by a lovely studio. It perfectly squares itself between the relaxation one might find in a title like Mario Golf (with its golf meets magical world premise) and the challenging, precision platforming of titles like Super Meat Boy and Celeste. Really looking forward to the full version!

I got this game to try it out after hearing about it from a stream that I often watch. I can say that this game is really really fun, I love all the mechanics of the game and how you can control the golf ball that has been produced by the wizard and manipulate the environment around you. The game is really well done overall and the platforming aspect of the game is challenging for anyone who loves platforming, however I want to put some of my own feedback down below.

  • So, this is my first bit of feedback because I think it may be potentially important to the growth of the game, when I started the game on controller I ran into a bit of a graphical glitch. I am a controller player, so I am pleased that the game does fully support controller, but the new game option completely covered any of the other options that I was able to choose from. This could be due to me having OBS open at the time since I was getting ready to stream this game at the time, but I do think it is something worth looking into. I currently have not seen the issue since, so I don’t know if this was caused by OBS.

I had bought this game a couple years ago when I had first got a VR and just decided to download anything that was free that looked fun. Honestly I don’t understand why I chose a golf game considering how god awful I am at golf most of the time I can’t even hit the ball. Although playing a golf game in VR is quite fun to do especially during quarantine and you can’t actually play golf in a real place. Note that this game is mini-golf style golf not the standard golf but, hey I love mini-golf and if anything it’s easier and a lot more fun. Also note that this game is free but only gives you access to two courses. The additional three are DLCs however, there are difficulties and various gamemodes.

I really liked playing the 18 hole mini-golf course here. It was a lot of fun despite some issues. I played this on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers, I started out with my head barely above the ground. So when I see that error, I always do the Windows 7 compatability trick and started the game straight from Steam VR and it worked! You press Y or B to change the length of your club (up or down). You teleport by clicking on your thumbstick. Unfortunately, you cannot reset view within the game so you’ll need a roomscale setup. Game played fine for the most part (visuals/sounds/gameplay).

The game looks cheap, but it has very well designed puzzles. It’s a good puzzle game, when you start most levels a bit stumped as to how to solve them, but then when you finish them the solution seems obvious.

Great game! I recommend it to basically anyone that likes a challenge. Can’t wait for new levels or a new game by these guys. Keep up the good work Lucas and Sam!
