Overall I liked it a lot but it does have a few (very) rough edges. Shmup combined with metroidvania should be self-explanatory but what drew me to the game was tactical combat where you get slower while attacking, there are timed dodges and there are abilities that use the same resource bar as dodges. That makes it a solid foundation for some good bullet hell. Most of the bosses are very well designed and you get rewarded for exploration handsomely, with equippable accessories that modify your ship in various ways. Unfortunately there are a few issues I’ve had with it:

This game is a breath of fresh air to me mainly because of its controls. It’s been a long time since I’ve played something similar and while flying around needed a little time for me to get used to, it was fun to learn and after I got used to it, became second nature.
At first you only have a traditional fast-firing but low-damage weapon, but trust me, it’s worth progressing - you’ll have a whole arsenal of weapons to choose from before you know it, and prioritize according to your situation and preferences. When you master it, you can even figure out some tricky combos that are satisfying to pull off, such as when using the boost jump and the rocket in quick succession, it’ll fly quicker than the minigun pellets. Deciding on which upgrades to spend your currencies on is a fun way to customize your things.

Surprisingly entertaining.
I play with keyboard and it is a little clunky but the fights are very enjoyable even without controller.
The story-bits do not make too much sense, the thrill of toip-down-asteroid/souls-likey fights and traps, the great music and the stylish/functional graphics make this game a worthy one.
Should be a great purchase eveb with the full price tag.
(I got 25% off)
I had 2 minor issues with the game, a tiny bug of missing text and a clear way to see which part of my ship is forward.

✌ Johnny Rocket
It is honestly beyond me how someone could price this game above 1-2 dollars. (Let alone offer a monthly LICENSE for internet cafes!!!!!)
It’s buggy and un-polished.
It can be finished in less than 15 minutes.
And the worst of all is that the trailer on steam is GROSSLY misleading!! There’s no punching or grabbing opponents and connecting different moves together, creating combos etc. You just dash and shoot. That’s it.
I definitely don’t recommend it at it’s original price.
It’s barely a “maybe” if it drops at $1 - $2.

Johnny Rocket is a funny, frustrating, short and simplistic experience. I was drawn to this game due to its great minimalist animation and humor, but the game’s brief playtime and somewhat aggravating mechanics hold it back from being an experience I would recommend to others.
While I still enjoyed moments of this game and found myself laughing at some of its enemy designs (especially the Nazi Seal enemy..) the difficulty level and overall gameplay left me wanting much more out of the title.

Game is loaded with bugs and glitches that make it unplayable, change graphic and game crashes, restart game and crashes, play in window mode and text appears in boxes but is outside the box boarders and Parts of the text are covered with white blocks.
Try to manage inventory and no intuitive key can get you out, maybe there is something on screen to do it but since the text is overlapping cant see it.
- 1 to broken game heap.
Just an update, they have recently patched the game that at least makes it playable. The game no longer crashes when changing graphics and the on screen text is more clear. I commend the developers for that effort but still cant recomend the game as I feel there are better games of this type available.

ROCKETRON
The first day I played this I was pretty gobsmacked - quite easily in my top 5 games EVER and that’s saying something. I know its clearly influenced by and borrows heavily from Metroid/Castlevania/Contra but that’s obviously a great thing, and they add more enemies and action (at least more than Metroid) as well as a pretty awesome rocket pack that lasts longer as you progress which is rewarding and just gets more fun as you go. The soundtrack is very retro and a bit John Carpenter-esque in parts.

The weapon variety is excellent. The controls are spot on. The movement in combat feels fluid. The game can be challenging on higher difficulties but not in a way that seems cheap or unfair outside of a mechanic I will discuss shortly. Progression is implemented in the usual Metroidvania “find the power-ups by exploration” method.
After 9+ hours of gameplay now one rather glaring issue is the weapon durability system. Specifically, when you take damage (and you will) your weapon gets damaged potentially to the point of where it cant be used until it is repaired and that takes a very long time because the drop rate for healing orbs is somewhat abysmal….

Orion: The Eternal Punishment
Not a bad game has a nice retro feel to it,Controls are spot on,aiming and movement are very responsive. There are somethings i felt could use some improvement like when coming off of the hook shots it feels like you’re going to fall off the cliff side and in some cases i did indeed fall off,the enemy AI could use some major tweaking witch in turn would make the gun play more fun and last but certainly not least when you shoot your crossbow sometimes it shoots and sometimes not. In closing it’s fun,it’s free and if you like Fps games Retro or otherwise then it’s worth checking out.

this game isn’t bad, but it is a bit of a hassle to play. there is only one level as of my play time and that one level is designed in a way that makes sure you don’t know where to go. it’s easy to feel stuck or like you’ve done something wrong when playing. the end is very abrupt and just replays the same level without any satisfying conclusion to your half hour effort to find the exit
