Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a heart-warming tale about how even a woman who spent ten years in a coma can get up and be in better shape than you are.
You play as Miriam, a walking fashion disaster. A bunch of alchemists performed evil mad science on her, giving her a host of strange and unnatural powers. Chief among these is the ability to grow stronger and healthier simply through the power of diet and exercise. She can also bind demon souls to her body to gain magic powers, but this is par for the course in games like these. Together with her personal trainer Johannes, they seek to convince an old friend to go back to the good old days of loving his body, again, and save him from his toxic, unrealistic body standard girlfriend.

This game is one of best metroidvenia i’ve played.. however, story-wise it’s normal.
The controls and movements ain’t as smooth as other 2D games, but ti works fine
There are a variety of weapons, armors, skills and shards to use and upgrade.
The game is full of castlevenia references but the story-line has nothing to do with it,
I got the game on a discount, so i will suggest you wait for a discount before paying full price

UnEpic
Unepic for me is considered one of the best games I’ve ever played. While I play this game and I am writing notes in my book, I can describe that I feel a lot of fluency because I travel at least 20 years ago, where at 10 years I tried to unravel certain platform games like pc snes or megadrive. This for me is considered a good snes game but with a modern twist.
This is a game that is a little difficult to play, because it requires a lot of effort and sacrifice spirit to be able to enjoy this beautiful game. This game has some similarities to the Castelvania, a game created in 1987 for snes and that had a great success until 2010. To walk in a giant castle, from room to room with the lights out, without knowing the danger that awaits to us, does not seem to be An easy task, but when we light up all the torches and we come across a room filled with enemy goblins, orcs, skeletons, and other villains thirsting for revenge, then yes we have all the items to be a good game. This game is full of quests and side_quests where we can win several items that can be extremely valuable in another part of the game.

There is two part to this game : Solo and Muli.
Solo is a good adventure, fun to play, fun story, a bit of humor (mostly scatological or pop culture winks) and a good scenario. A great metroidvania with 3 littles flaws :
- Combat system is horrible. Can’t dodge, can’t kite (beside 2 very slow creatures in the game). You either kill from afar before they reach you or you slugfest them to death while chugging healing pots and rejuv spell. Jump are awfull, weapons animations are clunky, spells must be done standing and are interupted by anything. Pets (free moving and firing companions) are often the best source of dps/CC you will have.

Death’s Gambit: Afterlife
The Afterlife expansion has revived this game from mediocre into an amazing experience, and I still cant believe its all for FREE for previous owners of the original:
-The gameplay is smoother
-Build/weapon diversity is wider
-World is larger and features much more exploration and secrets
-Fantastic Musical score
-Old boss revamps and balancing was very welcome, and the all new ones were great too (except for one, screw that bird boi)
-The new endings make the end feel much better than before.
If you’re a fan of metroidvania’s, this one now stands up there with the best ones such as blasphemous and hollow knight. Check it out!

I think playing this game 3 times for me is enough. I wanted to see all the endings - I did, I wanted to visit whole map - I did. I wanted to kill all he bosses in heroic mode - well not really, but even if I’m achievements hunter I knew I won’t “kill the game” in speed run without dying so I won’t have 100% here anyway haha. Why I’m writing this like that? Well, I didn’t think I will actually finish this game multiple times, but because you start new game as a NG+ killing bosses again is faster with already upgraded stats and eq so game itself is later faster. Story was very interesting, voice acting on very high level (Hi Matthew Mercer :D ), music is really beautiful and I have weakness for pixel art so of course I love that one too. Game really worth playing!

Inexistence Rebirth
It looked better than it is, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it.
The hit detection is a little twitchy, and I noticed there’s a moment where you can’t attack while you’re flashing after being hit. In Sister Mode the character is unable to hit the crawling worms and toads while standing and attacking in front of them. This is either intentional or an oversight, at least in the case of the toad.
Otherwise, for a game made by one person I’m impressed. As a developer myself I know the difficulties and loss of time being a one person team entails.

Sophie
Sophie is a Metroidvania game that presents pixel art graphics and RPG characteristics driven by a deep, immersive, dramatical, and philosophical narrative. The game tells the tale of Sophie, the main character: a strong-minded girl that ventures through the kingdom of Sharam, motivated by silhouettes she believes to be hallucinations.
Amongst her adventures, the people of the kingdom start to be attacked by shadowy creatures that cause mysterious and incurable diseases. Sophie finds out that, for some reason, she’s immune to them, being the only one that can defeat the shadows.
Due to her immunity, the kingdom starts growing suspicious as time goes by, believing all the traumatic events are her fault. Then, our protagonist will start searching for the reasons causing these events and solving the mysteries behind the monsters, her immunity, her supposed hallucinations, and her magic powers.
The gameplay is paired with very detailed landscapes, emotional moments, and real-time battles to create an immersive and fun experience. The player’s free to decide what to do: exploring the kingdom, completing side quests, fighting to get stronger, or follow along with the main story, divided into eight chapters. Every chapter presents a major villain and the player will confront him in a unique, three-part battle.
An open-world environment makes room for unique characters, collectible items, and varying challenging puzzles. The very metaphorical narrative creates an emotional and mysterious atmosphere that is surrounded by possibilities and theories. The detailed and vivid art, only matched by an impacting soundtrack, will grant you the remarkable and immersive experience that Sophie’s tale has to offer.
