Mind Lock

Mind Lock

Mind Lock is an interesting game that I think is worth your time. I haven’t played many Metroidvania’s but I am a fan of in-depth magic systems in games, and this one offers a magic system like no other. As you can imagine since it’s in early access (and only one level is available), the game is still in the works and more content is being added in the future. Still, I want to give everybody a fair review to base their decisions on:

The game is charming, relaxing, and a good time if you enjoy messing around with magic systems, although your choices may not have as large of an impact as you may think. However, the current mouse and keyboard controls are a little asinine, and the game does state that it was designed to be played on controller. You can’t change your keybinds so I fear that those /iwithout a controller will have a bad time. If you do have a controller, you’ll find the controls to be very easy to get used to. Still, I can’t help but feel excited for the game’s future, and for $5 it’s not too much of an investment.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a heart-warming tale about how even a woman who spent ten years in a coma can get up and be in better shape than you are.

You play as Miriam, a walking fashion disaster. A bunch of alchemists performed evil mad science on her, giving her a host of strange and unnatural powers. Chief among these is the ability to grow stronger and healthier simply through the power of diet and exercise. She can also bind demon souls to her body to gain magic powers, but this is par for the course in games like these. Together with her personal trainer Johannes, they seek to convince an old friend to go back to the good old days of loving his body, again, and save him from his toxic, unrealistic body standard girlfriend.

I’ve played almost 50 hrs and got all the achievements, so lemme tell ya

This game is one of best metroidvenia i’ve played.. however, story-wise it’s normal.

The controls and movements ain’t as smooth as other 2D games, but ti works fine

There are a variety of weapons, armors, skills and shards to use and upgrade.

The game is full of castlevenia references but the story-line has nothing to do with it,

I got the game on a discount, so i will suggest you wait for a discount before paying full price

Something Ate My Alien

Something Ate My Alien

I haven’t gotten beyond the first planet yet, but I’ve been taking my time and exploring as much as possible and I’m just about to move on to the next planet. I only say this to echo that the map is deceptively small looking compared to the amount of time you’ll spend exploring it. But in the mean time, I wanted to get a review in, because I really enjoy this game despite a couple negatives.

It feels similar to Steamworld Dig 1 & 2, but with more features and goals. The puzzles have been fun, but not too difficult so far. Combat isn’t too challenging on Normal difficulty. Most monsters are more of a nuisance to swat down while digging further. It took me a while to get comfortable with the game, but I blame that on using a controller instead of keyboard and mouse.

Real player with 33.6 hrs in game

Something Ate My Alien is a really odd combination of exploring/digging, alien-shooting platforming, and puzzle solving that also involves that digging mechanic. It’s rather slow-paced overall because of the amount of digging that you have to do, so that the overall smallish maps seem rather large. Mixed into this is a high rate of alien-enemy spawning and turn-over, requiring you to switch between your mining laser and your selected weapons to defend yourself. Amid all of this, you are solving puzzles as they are located throughout the game maps. These puzzles are required for progress. It’s a mash-up that will excite some players and put off others.

Mask of Mists

Mask of Mists

Where do I start!? Let me start by saying this was insanely well done and is so worth the price! There is this magical atmosphere that is created in this game. There is a huge map that has puzzles every where for you to figure out to advance on to the new places in land. Some puzzles are easy to get started and give you that confidence…then you literally need to check every nook and cranny for some other items just to advance…make sure you are on your toes..but this is an extremely good time waiting to be had! I was impressed from the very start with the graphics, the movement, the idea and the premise. The follow through was pretty remarkable..great work to the devs, love the game, love the feeling, love the puzzles and the instant gratification that comes from finding that ONE item you need to move on and unlock another area!

Fun game, but maybe a bit to unpolished.

It is not an RPG game, there is no leveling up. Only thing you can do is find some better weapons. It is quite open world, but if you look at it and memorize the world a bit it’s not that big at all. Puzzles are pretty fun and some require some thinking, nothing over the top though.

Combat … You’ll face the three same enemies for the whole game(not counting the boss). Combat can get boring pretty fast.

It’s fun for some exploration and some minor puzzle solving , but there is not much more to the game. Also it’s rather short, should take maximum 6 hours to beat. And I’m a slow player.

Exotic Matter

Exotic Matter

so who should probably buy this game? If you are: a minecraft fan (or crafting/survival/block building) but would like to have a story, and/or If you like flexible, easier modding with much more freedom. the game is essentially an engine, so theoretically you can tweak everything and make a medival sandbox out of the game (not just the visuals). AFAIK Steam Workshop is also going to be a big part of the game.

the game is aimed to change heavily based on player/community feedback, thats why early access. so I highly advise to actively make suggestions/report problems in the forums if you like the idea/potential and think it can improve in different areas, and would want to see more content, more detailed lore or whatnot.

Really interesting game, has an interesting learning curve that wasn’t to difficult to figure out, Was great fun.

I really do recommened this game to anyone who enjoys the block building type of game. Exotic Matter takes the base of these games and really does improve upon it.

Now i am an adult who has a rather short attention span so i give you the feedback of a 7 year old that loves Minecraft.

“you should add swimming effects and i really like this game”

Simple and to the point, if a 7 year old has enjoyed it after a thousand or so hours in minecraft then you cant go wrong expanding your library with a game that expands this genre of Gaming.
