Alwa’s Legacy
Hey guys, first ever review here.
I was able to finish the game 100% in normal mode yet.
All started with the first game (Alwas Awekening) i played and started to speedrun.
It came out they are doing a sequel. When the Kickstarter-Campaign startet i never thought about not baking there because i loved Alwas Awekening and was pretty hyped from what infos they gave before.
As a Beta-Baker i was able to play some versions before release. Started with the Demo, got access to the Beta and finally was choosen to QA run the game before release.

Alwa’s Legacy is an amazing game!! Just a ton of fun. I was looking forward to this one for a while, and I’m SO glad that it didn’t disappoint. Here are a summation of my thoughts:
–————-
—- PROS —-
-
The graphics are amazing! The graphics in the previous game (Alwa’s Awakening) were good, but this game has definitely taken then to the next level. The backgrounds especially are just gorgeous. Sometimes, I would just stop to look at them for a while. Good stuff!
-
The animations are also excellent! I love the cute, chunky look of everything. The main character, NPCs and enemies all look nice and sharp. Very cool stuff. :)

Catmaze
Okay, Catmaze, Catmaze. Pretty hard to write about the game. It is a Metroidvania by all means. However, there are really two distinct types of Metroidvanias out there and this is pretty important. Long story short:
- If you like exploring and finding secrets then by all means give the game a go. It took me 11 hours to 100% it but I am a pretty seasoned player and I bet it will be like 13-15 for an usual player. The secrets were not something to write home about but the overall exploration and level layout are pretty solid. The movement is very enjoyable although most of the jumps are very precise (and that comes, again, from a seasoned player)

Catmaze is a very true and accurately labeled metroidvania-style platformer that simply fits the genre much better than many I have seen with the same label. I like a lot about it after playing through my single bad ending, which I will get into in a bit, but without any spoilage, as far as I can say from what I have played, it is really a great game. There are some flaws, and some things I dislike about it as well. I’ll get into both momentarily, but I do wish to mention once more that this was a really nice, almost reminiscent experience. I cannot really say why, but it reminded me a bit of something from another time, in a nice sort of way.

8 Bit Space
My son and I loved this game - nice relaxing retro platformer - keep em coming!
Super neat that the artifact statues were old video game characters like manic miner and, i think, dizzy. Ending was also classic…

Really nice jumping platform 8 bit era inspired game. If you remember that era well, then this game will be right up your street. Nothing more to be said.

Development
Inspired by video game classics, Alchemist’s Mountain takes level design seriously, with puzzles that span its dungeons and requires players to understand its layout. (Check that map often!) As players strike out to discover the dungeons and overcome them, Alchemist’s Mountain tells a story of transmutation: how we take the icky things of life, and use them to create beauty, strength, and meaning.
Alchemist’s Mountain was born in Metroidvania Jam 2, where it won first place! And since then its concept has been developed and refined by a solo indie dev (while changing nappies and extracting teeth).
Story
Ever since she was young, Sophia has listened to her father tell her the tales of the eccentric Alchemist. From his miraculous creations to his mysterious disappearance. Now the ruins of the Alchemist’s kingdom lie open to those brave or foolish enough to plunder them.
Help Sophia be the first to ascend the mountain for over 200 years. You’ll need all your wits and some quick reflexes, and some good friends, as the journey grows more complex and dangerous into the dark heart of the mountain to reach its desolate frozen peak.
BOGs: Earth vs Sea

Piece together the puzzle of why the planet was left to ruin, all while befriending scrappy robots and maybe even find a way to make contact with your creators.

Dad Quest
Welcome to an experience that will incite laughter, joy, and relatable drama. I played this game twice through in order to create its first “Dadthrough”. I love its humor, I love its gameplay/mechanics, and its story is filled with detailed anecdoates that capture my imagination.
Dad Quest is a triumph that seeks to demonstrate the power of conviction. We might not be impervious, but we can be resilient! Our will can persevere!
I have shared this game with my friends, family, and social mediums. I hope that our entire world experiences this epic quest that involves nightmares, credit, and a thief.

Context: Was gifted from a friend to commemorate(?) becoming a real-life dad for the first time a few months back.
Control Method: Xbox 360 controller
‘Thoroughness of playthrough’ - completed 80% of achievements within first playthrough, remaining bonuses completed in 2-3 hours afterwards, though some collectibles left undiscovered,
Plot: The storyline concept was pretty unique and a lovely way to learn about the ‘dad universe’ without over-explaining aspects of the world & lore; Greatly appreciated the variety of dads in the game, and definitely had a few moments that hit close to home!

Good story

A game to congratulate. The main character pulls you into the game either by the playability or with the story. The scenarios are diverse and wake up your attention - the music also. You can “play” with the time of the game and stay by the small games and quests inside of it. It’s fun. I love it.
I miss the times when games were made to leave something to the player. I miss games like this.

great game so far, movement really enters a new dimension of fun once you unlock some of the upgrades. art looks sick and the structure is great

This game is really cool! Props to the developer for making such an interesting world to explore. The creepy/beautiful art is honestly a treat to look at. so much of the odd little art littering the game is fun to take in. some of the characters are cute(sleepy fox 3), some are pretty normal, and others straight up give me chills! the characters even react to your progress and move spots around the map to talk to each other, giving the world an alive feeling.
the backgrounds are really well done, especially beautiful later (lookin at you Spec). But wow! can you believe this is all hand drawn?

Escape Zolstar
I finished this in just over 3 hours. At least an hour of that I was running around trying to figure out where to go at one particular point, mostly my own fault, but partly because of a somewhat sadistic jump you are expected to make in between laser beams. After many tries, I assumed I needed a dash or some other power-up to make the jump and quit trying.
The game has several places where there is a very long and tedious gauntlet between save points. At least two of them had me on the verge of giving up. I have no idea why I keep paying money to put myself through this.
