Deadlymangaming reviews: PhysDrive

Ok, this game isn’t great, but it definitely has potential. Yes it does have bugs, and it could definitely be worked on, but I believe after this recieves a couple of updates, it will be a great game to play.

I only decided to say ‘no’ judging how it is currenlty, if this game is extreamly improved on, I will happily come back and change that ‘no’, to a ‘yes’.

Poor physics. Basically the most challenging part is dealing with random flipping and weird perspective issues, like an invisible staircase or blocks that appear 2 meters lower than you, but you can drive right on top of them. Its just one level with no way to save, and theres a bunch of checkpoints. Not sure how to get the echievements, I feel like I made it to the end, but then again I have no way of knowing unless it said “the end”. Basically its kinda like someone was testing out the Unreal Engine, and the program name actually has “Project” in the name on the windows taskbar. I wouldn’t buy it again, as there are far better ways to spend the $0.59 or so I spent on this, but I have to admit I did get my money’s worth out of it.

Primal Pursuit

Primal Pursuit

Primal Pursuit is an indie animal racer that supports up to 12 players and is a heap of fun with friends or in one of its offline modes such as the single player tournaments (against bots) or time trials (competing for leaderboard positions). It has an impressive art style with a nice selection of maps and unique animal’s to choose from. Each racer has their own set of abilities and playstyle, not to mention that the roster itself is made up of a pretty interesting, non-generic selection of species.

Followed Primal Pursuit through early development and managed to snag a tester key! (Have now Purchased)

I Played this game with my Niece and Nephew, both them and myself had an absolute blast playing this game!

The animal racing style and themes are an awesome spin on the the classic arcade racer, with each animal (A total of 8) having a set of 3 unique and interesting abilities of their own. These abilities each of the animals possess, alongside the diverse range of maps that contain tricky obstacles such as the big boulders thrown from giants and hefty spike traps, really helped make our races more interesting and broke that monotony you’d have in most other games in this genre. My niece was smitten with the ‘chubby walrus,’ and wouldn’t change from him all afternoon.

Disney•Pixar Cars

Great nostalgic game :)

Cars is open world and has a good number of races, minigames, and collectibles. Some of the more fun events - like chasing down the speeders - and some of the offroad races have high replayability.

It can take a while to find the location of all those stamps, and even then, getting to them is a whole other challenge. I remember for two of them you have to climb a huge mountain with its own share of difficulties and pick which stamp of the two to get. They both involve long jumps to reach them, and if you fall, you have to climb back up the mountain all over again.

A great game that I enjoy. I remember playing this as a kid, and I was excited when I recently found out that it was available on Steam. This game has great races and mini-games. The controls can sometimes feel floaty and weird, but it is easy to get used to (I used a PS4 controller). The hub world, consisting of Radiator Springs, Ornament Valley, and Tailfin Pass, give you this sense of exploration. Not to mention you can hit npc cars in these hubs which can be very hilarious if you are doing this with someone watching you. You can choose a difficulty before starting Story Mode, which are Rookie, Pro, Champion, and another mode that is the most challenging that you need to unlock (I don’t know how to unlock it or the name of it). The cutscenes have original voice actors. You can also get bonus content like characters (note: unlocked characters can’t be used in Story Mode), paint jobs for characters, art, deleted cutscenes, and other videos, but you need to pay with points you receive in-game. The characters you unlock can only be used in Arcade and Multiplayer. Arcade is where you can choose a character and paint job and choose any mini-game or race that you have unlocked while playing in Story Mode. Multiplayer is basically just Arcade but with multiplayer. Multiplayer is split screen, and there is no online play. The only downfall is the sometimes floaty and weird controls that can take some getting used to and the difficulty that keeps on switching from easy to difficult, then back to easy and cycle repeats. Overall, it is a great game that anyone can enjoy, and I am more than happy to call it one of my favorite racing games.

FEMINAZI: 3000

FEMINAZI: 3000

I’m all for making fun of feminists, but let’s be honest, this game is just tedious:

  • the controls feel clumsy

  • the game has no settings menu (no way to lower the incredibly loud musicj or to remap the controls)

  • the game barely has a menu at all, all you can do is play (always the same level) or quit.

  • no windowed mode, all you can do, like with most (all?) Unity games is alt+enter and then you’re left with a window that’s too large for your screen

  • the game takes too long to load considering how simple it is

This game becomes just frustrating after a couple of minutes playing. There’s only one stupid level on which you play and it get’s frustratingly difficult from the same spot on every time. I will just keep on trying to get the achievements, therefore I’ll probably have a couple of hours gameplay and it won’t be fun for sure, since I’m fed up already after half an hour.

Russian Roads

Russian Roads

TL:DR: Terrible but hilarious and kind of fun to play.

Cons:

Absurd physics

Mediocre sound

Terrible checkpoints around the corner so you don’t know which way you’re going,

The other npc vehicles are faster even after you’ve applied the 3 torque upgrades

Pros

Funny AF

Achievements

Trading cards

Computer AI so dumb it’s hilarious

Hasn’t crashed or bugged out

Worth the sale price because I’m enjoying it and want to complete it.

Russian Roads is a 3D third person road racing game made out of a series of Unity Asset flips. It’s designed as a mostly joke game to lambast the state of roads in Russia, as the tracks have a series of potholes and other aspects of disrepair that act as obstacles to the driver.

Despite some effort around assembling a game from a racing template and some low quality/asset flipped vehicles and environments, the end product is still obviously asset flip tier and of such poor quality that I can’t recommend it. The joke premise is mildly amusing for around 2 minutes. Laush Studio has a long history of these kinds of frankenstein asset flips, and this is no exception to their record of poor quality bundle fillers.

Full Disclosure: My copy of the game was provided to help test bugs on the mac version. For a guide of how to run this game on mac on the latest patch (as of Jan 13, 2016), go to the bottom of the review.

I really like this game. It has solid gameplay with clear goals in mind. There is virtually no story (besides the process of making babies), but one would not be necessary. The “babies” you collect are a nice touch, as whenever I win I am curious as to what my next baby will look like.

The one negative I have for this game is the difficulty. On my first run, I made it halfway. On my second, I made it to the end but was not first. At around my sixth run, I made it to the end, first. Next run, I won again. Then, again. You tend to steamroll the game fairly quickly once you realize that the way to win is

! save up enough money for the afterburner and the fastest engine and never buy weapons. Then just try to get to as many energy powerups and boosts as possible. Only use your energy for the afterburner . I don’t know if I would advocate that the difficulty be raised, but it is definitely an issue.

  • Insane concept, you are racing through a uterus with 1000 other sperm cells who are all trying to kill one another while trying to get to an egg to conceive a baby.

  • The gameplay is actually a lot of fun. At the start your load is shot out all at once and your screen is covered with other sperm cells and lasers shootng every which way. You can shoot at the other cells with your weapons, pickup speed power ups, and try to get to the end before any other. If you are not first or if you die you lose.

VCB: Why City (Beta Version)

VCB: Why City (Beta Version)

VCB is ludicrous from start to finish and every aspect of it is meant to be an inside joke. The sound effects are hilarious, the missions lack variety and vehicle handling is horrible. Then, there is the graphic design which is obvious from the screenshots and is accompanied by weird filters to represent drunkenness. However, while the game is nerve-wracking at times, it manages to be a short and somewhat fun experience with a few great moments of its own. As the game has nothing notable to offer, I can’t really recommend it to everyone. But if you know beforehand what you’re getting into, VCB can entertain you for a couple of hours.

(disclaimer: I hate censoring swear words but Steam would do it for me anyway so sorry for censored swear words lol)

This game is absolute sht. Everything about it is terrible - collisions, hitboxes, models, graphics (textures probably made in MS Paint + NPCs' faces are just developers' faces, looking like drunk 15 year olds), driving, shooting, minimap, even fuking walking. Audio - shi*ty Russian raps, horrible voice acting and most sounds being just strange noises made by developers. It may be considered “funny” but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s pretty bad as well. Developers themselves have put a disclaimer saying that this game is so awful no one should play it.

Crab Champions

Crab Champions

Crab Champions is a solo developed game from the creator of Crab Rave. Each of the 3 main modes offer a different playstyle.

Survival (1-4 Players Co-Op PvE)

Fight your way through increasingly difficult islands that are populated with hostile enemies. Loot chests are scattered around each island containing upgrades that enhance different aspects of your crab’s power. The in game economy makes it important to develop a strategy around when to buy chests as well as deciding on what upgrades fit best for your current build. The goal is to survive as long as possible before getting overrun by enemies. In addition to the main mode, test yourself with single island challenge runs and a bonus endless combo mini mode.

Racing (1-4 Players)

A complete change of pace from the Survival and Duel modes. No weapons, the only focus is on fluid, responsive movement. Playing solo or with friends, the goal is to make it through one of the race maps as quickly as possible to set a new personal record. Through trial and error, it’s possible to find new ways to set records, combining chained movements like sliding and flipping.

Duel (1-6 Players PvP)

Play with Steam friends (or bots if playing solo) in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 duels across small balanced maps. Skilled use of movement, timing and shields are required to come out on top in this fast paced mode. The first player or team to win 5 rounds wins the match. Custom games are also available, allowing players to choose their own rules.

Key Features

  • Smooth and responsive movement and combat

  • Carefully crafted visuals with a focus on quality while maintaining high performance

  • An original soundtrack made specifically for the game

  • A variety of cosmetic skins, emotes and victory songs to unlock by completing challenges

  • No lootboxes, microtransactions or ANY additional purchases required- all content is available to unlock in game by playing

  • Play solo or with Steam friends. All modes equally support solo and multiplayer play with friends
