Alien Flex

Alien Flex

Alien Flex starts out hard as heck in the tutorial level, but scales down in difficulty once you learn how to approach fights. The first sequence of levels took me over 30 mins to complete.

Game has its flaws, but persevering through them makes winning all that much more satisfying.

Kill the guards, steal the drugs, and boogie.

It’s finally here. And is it the game of the century masterpiece we were all expecting? Rest assured, despite a few issues, I am pleased to tell you it most certainly IS!

Some have criticized this game for a slow start, but boy howdy does it pick up around the half-way point! The first half of the game is best enjoyed watching your favorite re-run of ‘The Matrix’ on FOX, as Keanu Reeves, the slated star of the show, was unfortunately mistakenly deleted from the game. This bizarre gaffe, however, does nothing to damage this progressive masterpiece, the developers went out of their way to not just allow you to be - but FORCE you to be a furry.

Its ok.

An amusing distraction. Fun synth wave stuff/scenery and some suitable music and a bunch of memes.

Sometimes a bit annoying if you mistime a jump or come off the TRON bike and hit a wall and if you are going for cheevos can be a bit grindy. They are all possible if you can be bothered to put in the time farming coins / getting gud.

The high score one might be beyond you, and by that point you may have become bored, but its a fun game to play for a bit when you just want to pass the time listening to podcasts or whatever.

InsanZ - Retro Survival Horror

I’ll admit; I like the simplicity of the game and while I do want to continue it, it stops reacting to inputs (glitching, enemies not dying, a bossfight that never ends because there is no way to actually END the fight). The DLC is also glitched out, meaning it won’t run at all. If there was more work pumped into the game, I’m sure it would be lots of fun. Imaging co-op, that would be interesting and could save this game.

As the game stands now, it still needs quite a bit of work. It looks really dodgy and it is on many occasions. If you can make your way past the first 20 minutes, it really picks up with a menagerie of bizarrely textured guns and a colourful cast of monsters. Monsters such as Imps, Ogres, Midget Lizard Men, charred gas mask clad soldiers that dance when you kill them, and even skeletons that throw….“rocks”.

FINAL OPINION: Not quite worth $9.99, but it’s fun to play overall.

EDIT: The latest patch has broken the game. I can no longer recommend it until the problem is solved.

Messiah

Messiah

The game itself is fine, a problem solving sabotage game where careful platforming and finding the right item to progress (in this case often bodies) passed each new hurdle is a welcome throw-back to when puzzle games were about retracing the developer’s logic for any given situation. Quite a few bits of dark-humor as well - I do love that game overcomes the God-can-do-anything protagonist problem by making God only just caring enough about the planet to be slightly annoyed by a dystopia - balanced out by a wide-eyed, though homicidal, angel as your player avatar. Really I should love this. So why am I not recommending it? The GAME DOES NOT WORK passed a certain point, the technical support for the game is all long since gone and so if you buy this game, you are only buying the first 2ish levels of it. Have what fun you can with what is there, but know there will be no end-game for your purchase.

There is a certain charm to Hackmud where, despite some of the flaws that I have been very much accustomed to over my 12,000 logged Steam hours in this game, I still continue to play this game, or at the very least have an interaction with it, daily. If I were to make a shortlist of my favourite video games of all time, would Hackmud be in this list? Compared to actual video gaming masterpieces? After a lot of deliberation, my answer is: “No at its core, but considering everything I’ve been through with it, yes”. Hackmud stands as a testament to the sheer entertainment potential of even the smallest and roughest of games with the right kind of mechanics to allow for infinite user-generated content.

This is one of my favorite games I’ve ever played. It’s hard to explain exactly what the draw is in a concise way, so be prepared for a little reading.

It’s easy to say that I love it for the scripting, which is my primary focus, but the reason I love it is so much more than that. The atmosphere really clicks for me, where the lore is presented “Dark Souls style”, which takes some digging to reveal - and what it shows you makes you want to know more. The npcs in this game talk from time to time, and as you see what they have to say you may start to realize they are not just making jokes, spamming weather reports, and adding to the lore, but they also hint at secrets that players can find.

Nyan Cat: Lost In Space

Nyan Cat: Lost In Space

Games are often judged under 3 categories: Story, Visual Graphics, and Soundtrack.

Nyan Cat takes all the cake, the table and the entire buffet.

The story involves around the creature, nyan cat, in search for what has been lost by travelling through different dimensions and facing danger. On the journey, nyan cat gets access to different magical artifacts that help nyan cat on the journey while collecting lactose and fighting off against the evil.

The visual graphics are just fantastic. Most modern games today such as CoD, Halo, etc, all have the same problem: THere is too much going on the screen that it makes it hard on what to focus, to finish the objective, etc. And the biggest problem of modern games: motion blur. It just makes a beautiful game in this muddy madness, it’s like your character or what not is always drunk and it’s about to collapse. Now take a look at nyan cat. The graphics are minimalistic, and nyan cat just contrasts against the background, making it very easy to see, and not just nyan cat, also the items and enemy, they are contrasted against the background. The HUD is also very simple and straight to the point.

Nyan Cat: Lost in Space is a casual game inspired by the Nyan Cat meme. In it, you play as the eponymous cat as he flies through space, collecting milk, cake, donuts and such. If I had to describe the gameplay, I’d say it’s an autoscrolling platformer; you can’t really make Nyan Cat go back, he always moves forward; your control is limited to jumps, though there’s two powerups that allow for a more directional control over the Y-axis. Your goal is simply to get as far as you can, and get as high a score as possible, while avoiding falling to the bottom of the screen, or hitting TNT, both of which end your game. There’s also a few hazards in the form of enemies like a dog, Tac Nayn (evil Nyan Cat) and UFOs.

its a great game, surpised my GTX 970 works, but the card is pushing at 98% game runs smooth, tried with AI cars, co pilot, all maps seem to work, game settings work with the card i have, this game is alot like what i have on my phone except you can choose to have an open road or traffic, an idea for you is you can have the tracks react with the music, that seems to be fun, i love the idea where this is heading, a map idea you can add i like to see is as you drive you can have lights light up around the track, they ccan change colors, shapes etc. that be cool to see smthing like that react to the music you listening to with awesome trippy effects,

One of the most relaxing games I have played. The gameplay is simple, you drive on a highway and overtake other cars. Or you can play it as an idle game by removing the traffic and just enjoy the scenery while listening to the awesome soundtrack.

Ricochet

Ricochet

I have achieved the greatest milestone in all of Ricochet. Unlike other players who have only experienced the glory of Ricochet for 5 minutes of their unproductive waste of lives, I have achieved the euphoric life changing exception to human flaws known as Ricochet for more than 1,200 hours.

Ricochet has brought me many gifts, and one of those gifts granted to me is my burned retinas, allowing a new way of peering into this world, for example, you filthy subspecies can look at something and see smooth seams and vertices, but to me, every defined corner has a distinct glow illuminating even the darkest of voids with the same semblance of a low polygonal object. The people around me are no longer just people to me, for every person I see is just a target waiting for the sweet release of a flung Laserdisc to decapitate them, breaking them from their meager existence that have been ignorant to the touch formed by the greatest thing our Creator Lord Gaben has granted to us.

When my wife left me and took full custody of all 26 of my Irish children, I almost lost it. I became suicidal, cutting deep into my wrists and wishing the emotional turmoil would end. I opened up my computer and planned to have one last good time before I ended my pain-stricken and worthless life. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a notification popped up on my desktop, a steam gift, I could only wonder what it was. I finally used my last essence of courage and wonder I had left in my battered and bruised body to open it. Ricochet emerged on my screen. ♥♥♥♥ it, I might as well have some fun on my last day of measly existence. I downloaded and opened the game. A flash of colour, the amazing soundtrack, enjoyment. I came to the epiphany that it had not been a worthless journey. I had rediscovered Jesus. No not Jesus, one who is greater than he, the legendary Gaben. I played it for hours on end. Win after Win. My wife came to her senses and realised the sexy alpha male she was missing out on. She came home, all my children in her hands.

I was looking for a different kind of rhythm game and this might be it. From watching the gameplay videos of this game, it got me pretty hyped. The fact that the edit mode just came out just get me even more excited to play this game.

The core gameplay is alright, I’ve certainly had some fun playing some of the charts but I think there’s something wrong or missing from the game. For example, after exiting the result screen I was greeted by random white triangles on a black background while the music’s still playing. I thought “Oh, something cool is happening” so I started to mash the keyboard for a few minutes only to realize it has crashed.

Wow! After my very first playthrough I found myself inspired enough to write a positive review. The music is phenomenal! The visual a bit on the trippy side, and it’s a good idea to preview the songs before trying them out in-game, to get a feel for what they may throw at you. It’s not easy, and that’s not a bad thing…as it poses a good challenge that gets easier with familiarity. This game is in my favorites playlist already…so with less than a half-hour played at the time of reviewing Hacker’s Beat. it’s safe to say my playtime will grow rapidly. This game may not be for everyone, but it sure is for me!
