Type Knight

Type Knight

I decided a few months ago that I wanted to learn how to type without looking at the keyboard; I’ve tried this before, but it’s so easy to slip back into bad habits! I can happily say now, thanks to Type Knight and some other typing tools I can type without looking, and pretty quickly too! Type Knight is a super fun typing tool. I found that typing short words in the lower difficulties helped me learn to type those words quicker. By starting small, the daunting task of no-look typing felt a lot more manageable! Normal typing tools always bored me. I’ve found that by gamify-ing typing, I was working harder to beat my high score and then in turn improve my typing speed and accuracy more than I would have with just a basic ‘learn to type’ program.

Summary: Type Knight is a small but solid typing game with great atmosphere and the ability to import your own scripts for tonnes of replayability. It is a game that any fan of typing games should definitely check out. 8/10

Plot:

The plot to Type Knight is extremely simple, but throughout the gameplay, there are intervals where light plot progression occurs through small text passages, there being 20 in total. While the plot is nothing complex or massively engaging it is always interesting to see such intervals where the plot does progress as you get insight into the mind of the knight and how his quest is affecting him the further, he progresses.

Type Defense

“Type Defense brings a brand new approach to all typing games. You have to stop desert bandits by firing with your ballista. Everyone knows the best way of using a ballista is typing! And it supports multiple languages!”

Well, no, but still it’s a great game!

This is definitely no brand new approach - I’ve played at least a dozen games in which you had to type words that randomly come on-screen in order to defeat enemies, but who cares? It’s awesome!

And yea - the multiple language support is great, unfortunately I can’t type in my native tongue.. but you can choose between entire vocabularies of English, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish. And Russian too.

As someone that is learning to type (Dvorak) this game gets too hard too fast, would not recommend this game until you can type at 20+ wpm, I’m on about 12 wpm at the time of writing and the game lasts for about 2 mins before I die and have to start again, it gets so fast that my typing just gets frantic and I no longer am practicing typing as much as I am key mashing and not learning anything. Some adaptive difficulty based on our typing speed/accuracy/performance, or manually set difficulty, would sort this out.

Rebels - Under the Spell of Magic (Chapter 1)

Rebels - Under the Spell of Magic (Chapter 1)

I found Rebels very entertaining! The character and story is very detailed and I was able to immerse myself in the rough world (slaves) which is full of wonders (magic and fantasy creatures). A personal gimmick I found was the options for the main character’s activities or the paths he should take. I was so interested in the story that I temporarily saved each of them in order to be able to read the various options.

I liked the main character’s facial expressions best ;D I love Folken’s facial expressions and have had to laugh a lot, there seems to be a lot of work in character creation and portrayal here.

YESSSSS! This is a fine specimen of a story. It reminds me of anime/manga, particularly “HXH” (“Hunter X Hunter”). No, I am not saying that’s what it is… But the fact that it reminds me of it… Means it’s interesting and worth looking into! Oh the story comes with achievements! So hurray for that too!

Okay well… It kept my attention and was really unpredictable, but at one point or another I wanted to know more about the world, characters, races, monsters and so on. I liked the CGs and the funniest to me was when the main character did his brilliant smile. If I have to pick a character which one looks the best - it would be… “Number 1”. He is probably highly evil, but yeah… (I am not good with names, but he has such fuzzy ears!)
