Boring and grindy, with permadeath. Not much variety in enemies or locations. A hard pass.

I love the minimalist art style even if the contrast between bordering colors can make it difficult to make out features occasionally. I also understand this wasn’t a big budget MMO or even one individual’s personal passion project MMO. I’m completely okay with permadeath as well, even if it’s not a personal preference.

The issue with this game is the complete lack of meaningful gameplay. You heal in water and hit stuff to upgrade stats. If others played, you could all do this together. The battles are your standard time-based RNG style with no real interactivity.

Altwaldheim: Town in Turmoil

Altwaldheim: Town in Turmoil

Simple game. Yet rng, 5 factions, random events, riddles make it complex with deep strategy element.

I love city builders and making units in general. Game is very challenging I’ve played 17.5 hours a few days into purchasing and even though made it to final boss twice i still have not beat the game yet. Addictive game play and replay value is high.

Key to starting is focus on 1. gold 2. food 3. wood. i do not make any units until i’m attacked at the start. when i am attacked I focus on making a few units ie 20 archers maybe 10 thugs 10 militia then attack the small camps ie peasant militia and archer camps. make iron and stone mine and the remaining buidings. pick one faction to focus on and maybe have a subfaction as 2nd ary. for me i choose military and later capitalists. but there are relion freethinkers and nature ie guardians.

Ok folks,

I’ve been playing games from a very young age. This game will work for you if you like a chill relaxed management game that will challenge you.

Graphics are minimalist but it doesn’t matter.

I recommend the game because the developers did a really really good job in pulling this together in a way that it will keep you entertained while really focusing on you management and decision skills.

Well done, it’s a buy.

Great start to an early access game! The combat is fluid and exciting, and your tactical decisions make all the difference. I especially appreciate the research and effort into providing a historically accurate experience, all around (finally, Vikings done right!). The devs are very responsive to feedback, and have already implemented a couple of suggestions I had. The amount of content is pretty meager at the moment, but that is expected as the game is still very early in development, AFAIK.

Quality game. Developer has clearly paid a lot of attention and passion to it. A good thing to support, a developer who has put in a lot of time and effort into bringing about something like this. It is about as historically accurate as it can be, and the developer, Bennett, is reaching out to reenactors out in Europe for advice over the era. He seems rather knowledgeable on the subject, and I highly recommend that this game be purchased.

As it is still in development, I would like to include that it also has more room to grow even better. Will update this as the game updates.

There is a very interesting enigma wrapped in a mystery going on here. I really want to get into the game more, but the translation is rough. I feel certain that after a conversation we could work out some smoother edges to the translations. Thank you! Love the game! Keep: Doing It!

Kingless Land

Kingless Land

The Kingless Land is an Open World Wargame with a mix of TBT, TBS & RPG mechanics. Choose your way of one from 6 heroes - each has its own unique set of skills and social status. Gather and upgrade powerful army to conquest new lands, castles, towns and even whole kingdoms!

The game consists of a four gameplay cores:

The Journey: strategic world map with landscape features, where you can freely travel in real-time with a pause. Find various map locations to take quests, resupply, hire and upgrade the army.

The Battle: classic Turn-Based Tactical combat between army stacks. The battlefield will depend on the landscape, weather and times of the day.

RPG layer: learn various skills & abilities of your hero and open the new possibilities of game strategy, tactics and diplomacy.

Divide-and-Conquer: capture enemy’s lands and share feods between your vassals. Form alliances and plan global warfare.

  • Deep Wargame Mechanics: real-time travel on the open-world map, strategy landscape features and tactical battles in turn-based mode.

  • Six Kingdoms, each with its unique culture, armies and NPC lords.

  • Six hero classes as social background: Knight, Rogue, Warrior, Nobleman, Tradesman, Mercenary. Each with own unique set of skills.

  • Sophisticated AI will provide worthy resistance both in battle and in the strategic planning of the campaign.

  • Sandbox gameplay: the huge map with villages, castles, resources, cities and a diplomatic interaction system. Create your own history of a great kingdom.

  • Great narrative: Communicate and negotiate with bandits, farmers, lords, kings of neighboring kingdoms. Your hero can even marry, make a big feast on this occasion and poison his enemies on it.

  • Dynamic event system with atmospheric encounters and tough decisions outside of combat.

The great kingdom was engulfed in the flames of the internecine war for the throne - the king has suddenly died, leaving no legitimate heirs behind. The most influential feudal lords of the country gather their armies and prepare to take over the capital - the key to the whole kingdom.

Numerous skirmishes of minor Lords multiply the number of deserters, which go deep into the mountains and forests and unite into the bands of robbers. Even poor peasants take up arms and raise the revolts, hoping to protect the last they have.

One day, in these troubled times, you met an old knight who appears to be a close friend of the dead king. He gives you a golden ring with the emblem of the royal house and a letter confirming that you are a bastard, whom the King has recognized as his legitimate heir.

The knight becomes your mentor and gives his small band of soldiers under your command. The fate of the dying kingdom is in your hands…

The king is dead, long live the king!

Got me hooked, seems overwhelming at first but it’s incredibly simple once you keep going for literally a few secs. Can be a bit hard but I’m still trying to get better at it the more I know and see. Curious little game to chill for a quick run.

Nice idea, but not enough meaningful content

I enjoyed my time playing this, but the repetitive nature and lack of content makes this a: ‘wait for a sale’ game.

The gameplay is similar to tactical turnbased games like “Into the Breach” or “Advance Wars.” But what makes this game unique is that you only have ten seconds to plan out your moves, and then you actually control the character for x amount of time either moving, attacking, charging your shields (called dodge in this game, but it’s really just like shields) or more typically, a combination of all three. There are also special attacks that can attack multiple enemies in a row, etc. You can use the environment on the map as well to trigger attacks, or push an enemy onto a spike floor. There are also synergies to be had, and there are a couple different ways you can plan your run.

Lots of fun, the mechanics between the two characters is challenging and allows you different play styles according to what weapons and boons you select. Higher level floors are challenging and fun. Enjoyed collecting different charms and animals even though i was only able to collect 2 before beating the game,

This game would be one of my top ten Rogue like if more areas and characters were added. The limitation of 2 characters really doesn’t allow for any replay value unless you need to collect and unlock everything, I am usually a person that like to collect everything and get all achievements but didn’t feel the need to replay the game after 16 hours to collect a few more animals, a few weapons, and one more achievement.
