Front Mission Evolved
Another game with a big name behind it.
Time for yet another dual-viewpoint review.
TL;DR: Only go for it for the multiplayer. Only go multiplayer if you already know someone that wants to play it. (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FrontMissionRevival )
FME as part of Front Mission series
I’ve played Front Mission on SNES, including Front Mission: Gun Hazard (that it’s NOT a strategy game either, it’s a platformer), and Front Mission 3 on PS1.
They decided to make a TPS out of a game series that are mostly Turn Based Strategy.

After writing a review for this when I was 14, I have read the original and felt it was nothing more than cringe material. SO, I will be reviewing this game AGAIN.
To start off with, the story isn’t connected to any of the previous Front Mission games on Playstation. Instead, we are given a completely “NEW” story with “NEW” characters. These characters are pretty much as bland as a slice of bread, and only act as a means to introduce you to game mechanics or shit out exposition when nothing is shooting at you.

M.A.S.S. Builder
Summary: MASS Builder is a fairly fun game that could keep you busy for a few hours if you have little interest in mecha/robot customization, but many more hours if you like creating custom designs and trying them out. While its customization is deep, it isn’t…broad, and a general lack of content keeps this from being a hard recommend in general. That said, it actually gets the basics done with a lot of quality and polish and is by no means bad…just very narrow in its scope. It has a lot of potential and I’m excited to see new features added to the game.

Mass Builder is a customizable mecha game with great customization, but some of the worst gameplay I have ever had to slog through. The fact that the game is unfinished as of this review doesn’t excuse the game’s issues though. Let’s start with the pros, because there are some elements that are done well:
Pros:
-
Great character art. I won’t go into detail, but whoever did the 2d character sprites during story segments should be commended for a job well done.
-
Great customization for mechas. The parts all look great, and there’s obvious influence from several anime designs in certain parts. Colour switching is a bit awkward, but it’s functional.

Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax
I’ve had half of an eye on Stardust Galaxy Warriors since it hit Steam Greenlight. I bought it, and my impression of it then was that it was an alright introduction to shmups. I’d hoped to get some of my friends into shmups by playing this with them, but due to my IRL friends being non-gamers, this didn’t pan out. I’ve attempted to get myself through some of the achievements every now and then, so I’ve put an hour into this game “here and there,” and then I put the game down again because I wanted to play something else - I must admit that this game was not made for someone like me. Yet somehow, I keep finding myself playing this game alone, and every time I pick it up I am not disappointed. This game has, so far, been the highlight of my quest through my backlog.

To start off, I highly recommend anyone that enjoys side scrolling shooters to purchase this game, it is a must have. Feel free to keep reading if you want to know my reason.
I’m not a hardcore fan of shoot-em-ups, I didn’t even know what the word “shump” meant until today, but what I do know is that this game is really fun.
The game is very easy to pick up and play, the controls and mechanics are simple and none of that convoluted stuff, which I feel is a great thing. I don’t want to spend an hour learning about wierd game mechanics when all I want to do is just destroy enemies.

War Tech Fighters
This review is being written as of the first wave of Early Access content. I’ve finished the first twelve missions, all the challenges currently available, beat wave 10 survival (and had the #9 high score for a while, #12 as of writing this), and I’ve got my mech parts pretty much maxed for the time being, so I think it’s time I weigh in and leave my thoughts.
Firstly, let me start with what I love about this game:
-The action is superb. It’s high-paced, flows well, finishers don’t seem to interrupt the game much (and they’re skippable if that’s still too much for you), combat is fast and frantic yet never feels out of your control, and yet at the same time it plays fairly uniquely.

WTF almost comes at a hard recommendation for me. On the one hand, I got at least 20+ hours worth of content out of it and enjoyed most of it. On the other hand, the ending levels ramp up so much in difficulty that it makes no sense and furthermore, the only way to upgrade my gear would be to grind a bunch previous missons to get small stat bonuses and pitiful amounts of money. I’m using some of the end game mech configurations, but there are some other parts that could make the later levels a bit easier. Unfortunately, I’ve burnt all my money on the gear and upgrades I have now, so it would take potentially hours to grind up the resources needed to stand a chance in the later levels without dying in seconds. This immediately halted my ability to finish the game and the whole time I was wondering if the dev’s even playtested the end game missions.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
As somebody who played Mechwarrior 2/2:GBL/2:Mercs, 3/3:PM, 4/4:BK/4:Mercs, Mechcommanders 1 and 2, and was involved in the Mechwarrior community for years back in the golden era…. This is an acceptable giant stompy combat game.
Take command of your own mercenary company in the 31st century. Choose where to go and which contracts to accept, while being careful who you offend or favor since your reputation has a big influence on your contract benefits. Prepare for each mission by outfitting yourself and up-to three team mates from your pool of owned mechs and customize their weapons and upgrades. During battle, choose the right weapon for the right target at the right range while managing your heat output and your remaining ammo. Stay moving to avoid taking focused return fire. Follow your waypoints and complete each simple objective (generally some variation on “kill or destroy this”… battlemechs are not subtle) until you’re given the go-ahead to leave the area. Between missions, weigh your contract pay and battlefield salvage against your repair costs, crew salaries and travel expenses. Shop for new gear. And try to make enough C-bills to retire on a quiet private world some day.

A long-overdue single-player game for the MechWarrior franchise, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries shakes up the game’s usual format with predominantly randomly generated missions, although there are certain hand-crafted questlines here and there. After the tutorial quest chain (which you can skip if you have the DLC, but more on that later) you are sent off to look for a few choice contracts in the nearest warzone and strike it rich with the modest stable of mechs you have on hand. Or die trying. Wouldn’t be getting that much hazard pay for nothing, right?

GALAHAD 3093
Lance Warfare
**In GALAHAD 3093, players pilot mechs known as “Lances”. Capable of massive destruction, Lances are highly customizable. Gun Metal
I’ve played Gun Metal as a 12 year old kid and absolutely loved it - I mean, the game lets you control a transformable mech with badass firepower and nice looks, how cool is that?! Also, back in a day it featured some really decent graphics, so I loved it even more, as I was able to play it on my new PC without any problems. Well, the times have changed and so did my way of perceiving games. Gun Metal is just as adorably oldschool and dynamic as it is monotonous and frustrating. The difficulty is high, the missions are terribly repetetive, the story basically doesn’t exist (ok we are under attack by somebody, here take this cool transforming mech while we remain absolutely fucking useless, lol I know, we were able to build this damn thing but we cant fight for shit, so yeah, you are our only hope, please shoot all the bad guys), and the game (or at least the Steam version, I don’t recall such difficulties… well, shit, 12 years ago) is pretty damn bugged. During the loading screen for the 6th mission the game crashed to desktop and after restarting it showed my savegame as “damaged”, thus unable to load. That sucked. Other than that, the game is still fun, mostly thanks to its dynamicity and the sense of power it gives (lots of weapons, explosions and the coolness of a transforming bot). I bought it on Indie Gala for $1,40 because my nostalgia told me to do so. If you are reading this and want to put your hands on a cheap digital copy of this notsobad game, I advice checking http://store.indiegala.com/ .

this game is worth a dollar, without a doubt. $10? maybe, depends on what you like.
At first glance, this game is a very cool pacific rim/transformers type mech game where you can transform back and forth between a jet plane and a mech with guns. However, in later levels you end up barely using the mech at all because it’s just too slow and you get ganged up on by all the enemies, meaning you have to spend more time in jet mode taking out all the enemies just to land as mech and not do as much damage

MechWarrior Online™ Solaris 7
It’s a shame when adults must be treated like children but I think we all saw this coming.
The fact that I’m writing this hear does not mean you will read it but I am not alone. Many are growing sick of anti consumerism’s and there is a price you will pay for it. A price you will pay for your actions. This won’t hurt me near as much as it’s going to hurt you.
No more money.
831 Hours, 60 FPS, 110ms ping in game. 24ms by my ISP
Trashy hit scanning (Damaging front of mech from behind and Vis Versa) not even close. Biggest issue and still current. Side look out your cockpit and watch things miss you and still do damage.

Quick rundown;
If you like stompy mech vs mech combat, get this game. If you like customising things to fit your own playstyle, get this game.
If you like fast battles where you can just jump in and play, don’t get this game. If you are a die-hard fan of the Battletech Universe and think the best Mechwarrior title is MW:2 or MW:4 Mercs, then you probably don’t want to play this game.
While still being loyal to its predecesors, the gameplay is vastly different. If you wan’t to try something different from other free games out there, then do try this game. You don’t have to have hundreds of hours put into the game to have a decent selection of mechs to play with.

If you love mecha anime you will love this
Fastest VR game I have played so far. Basically Titanfall , Armored Core, and Zone of the Enders mixed together. All my Robotech / Gundam childhood dreams, the developer is obviously very passionate about mecha anime. Very fun and challenging, great music.
