Perpetuum

Perpetuum

I genuinely like this game. My standards are not your standards. All I ask is you do your research. This game does not reveal itself in your first pass. 6000+ hours and I am still learning.

Background

Perpetuum is an indie, sci-fi, sandbox mmo, with target-to-shoot combat with cover/Line-of-sight obstacles, 3rd person WASD piloting (with auto-pilot outside of combat). Player-driven market, player-run organizations (corps), open and closed pvp zones to accommodate all play styles, hardcore/casual. No griefing, no crime/punishment system.

Perpetuum has always been something of a lesser known & underrated game. Even though the old official server is no longer running, the Open-Perpetuum community project has done well to keep perpetuum online and replace and improve on features, mechanics, balancing & other things from the old server & keep perpetuum kickin in general.

The game itself graphics wise is dated but gets the job done. The game has one of the most satisfying and enjoyable combat systems for PvP in its genre with the use of terrain & this applies to all combat in the game.

UPDATED:

It’s a top down, mecha combat game. I want to love it, but I just can’t.

Great concept, bad implementation.

Poor grammar runs rampant within the game. Whether it is the tutorial instructions, description of items, even in the achievements.

Speaking of the tutorial, it’s Broken. It will get to a certain point and then just stop, never to return again. I even tried it on another account with the same result. Although, unlike other reviews, I find that I can still play the game as normal despite it not working properly.

Edit: the game is balanced

the game itself currently features a lack of content but its very fun and you get platinum for free from doing tasks that generally arent that hard and btw its not a small amount of platinum 3-4 tasks are enough to get a large crate where the real goodies are and the grind for the game isnt terrible plus the gameplay as janky as it is is kinda fun if your not playing kota anyway.

Kota are brawlers and snipers and due to this can get in there and destroy dominion very fucking easily

Got this guy for about 50 cents on sale and it’s probably worth the full price, its like playing classic Smash TV but with a mech warrior theme, there are loot crates and they seem more balanced than other game’s loot crates too. game play is quick and fun I have no problems with this little gem.

it’s an okay kinda twin stick shooter and defiantly worth the 39cts i got it for!

don’t think i bought it for full price though, there are way better twin stickers out here.

Pretty much you only play TDM and get first to 50kills.

it’s a game you play few matches and go play something else.

it’s no mmo and no co-op, dev should delete those tags

Neither Battletech nor good.

Hi there. I really like mechgames – be it as a simulation on my PC or as a tabletop-game with miniatures. But in its actuall state the game Techwars Online seems to come straight out of hell. It looks unready – but it is not an early-acces-title. The gamemechanics are unsatisfiing, the tournamentmode is a joke, the controlls are whacky – but they have no mercy for mistakes. And – just in case you didn’t guess it yourselves – there are bugs crawling through the code. I know: somwhere in Russia a bunch of guys have put a lot of effort in that project – I appreciate that. There are to few mechgames in the world. But for example: Why takes the AI the control of my mechs, leves me as a mere wondering spectator and beats the crap out of itself? I wanted to do that! Well, it’s not that bad, because after two rounds or so the whole match crashes.

Besides not knowing what Battletech is or Front-Mission, i find this game fascinating.

The game itself is on early development, not early access, I hope thye add new features and items for further startegies, because this game is nothing else than Chess with giant robots and hexagonal space instead of square.

Now the pros and cons:

PROS:

Very strategic gameplay: If you don’t think twice when you play this game, it’ll be difficult to win, as every action you do will actually be decisive for your win or loose.

addicting

edit after 145 hours:

its playable, fun (imo)

enough to do to play for days, if not weeks straight

only thing it lacks is a playerbase and it seems to be still in development.

there are transactions offered in the game and there would also be pvp if the playerbase and/or their mood for it would be more present but most of us didnt even give it a try yet i dont even know if theres some kind of reward system to it also even from what ive seen so far i know i havent seen it all

But it doesnt make it pay2win since the transactions only save you some playtime- not even that badly much unless you’re a whale

Real player with 175.5 hrs in game

while i love this game so far and i feel that its worth my money. i feel that without being free to play while having microtransactions is a very poor choice and will greatly lower the amount of people interested in the game as evident from some of the negative reviews i have seen of people refunding the game because they think that its unfair that they need to buy a game that’s heavy on microtransactions

if it went free to play it would not only get more players' but the game would make A LOT more money because people would not be quitting the game within the first 2 hours of gameplay so that they can get their money back because they think the game is money hungry. (and it kinda is with items like the officer patent and the dealer sign.)

It’s a shame when adults must be treated like children but I think we all saw this coming.

The fact that I’m writing this hear does not mean you will read it but I am not alone. Many are growing sick of anti consumerism’s and there is a price you will pay for it. A price you will pay for your actions. This won’t hurt me near as much as it’s going to hurt you.

No more money.

831 Hours, 60 FPS, 110ms ping in game. 24ms by my ISP

Trashy hit scanning (Damaging front of mech from behind and Vis Versa) not even close. Biggest issue and still current. Side look out your cockpit and watch things miss you and still do damage.

Quick rundown;

If you like stompy mech vs mech combat, get this game. If you like customising things to fit your own playstyle, get this game.

If you like fast battles where you can just jump in and play, don’t get this game. If you are a die-hard fan of the Battletech Universe and think the best Mechwarrior title is MW:2 or MW:4 Mercs, then you probably don’t want to play this game.

While still being loyal to its predecesors, the gameplay is vastly different. If you wan’t to try something different from other free games out there, then do try this game. You don’t have to have hundreds of hours put into the game to have a decent selection of mechs to play with.

IMPORTANT

You will be matched against bots till you reach silver or above. The three bronze levels at the start are short but annoying.

I’ve been playing this game since about release for mobile (2019). Many things have changed for better and worse throughout the course of its lifespan. I personally don’t care for the account transfer of mobile to pc, so my review is not based on any decision Netease or the devs decided to take on previous PC accounts transfer or mobile to pc.

1st of all, The game is FAR from perfect, but it’s still one of the few games I play over more popular ones like Apex Legends or Warzone; though it’s probably mostly coz I’m a weeb.

What makes the game stand out are the mechs, each having unique designs and playing differently from each other.

No, you do not create your own mech; each mech is already designed, and has their own pilot, though you can choose any mech as any pilot and it won’t have any bonus outside of the pilot’s passive skills, which just so happen to fit their respective mech.

The game is easy to learn, you gather resources, build your base and then build crafting and utility stations. The game looks good and once you have built your first mech (scout mech) the pace of the game move a lot faster. But the game is still in early access so there are still some bugs in the game. Multiplayer still need some optimization since it has to reset a bit too often. In single-player mode, the android faction (ennemy) is not fully operational and the end game is not implemented yet. Also, if you want to play multiplayer there are not a lot of people playing the game right now (and they are mostly playing on the staging server (test server), which you can join if you want) because of the problem mention above but once the game is released out of early access people will come back and new players will play the game. Also, the developers are now working on the game part-time so it can be a while before the game is released out of early access. So, buy it if you want to support the development of the game and don’t mind waiting for the finish game or put the game on your wish list to buy it on the next sale or when it is fully released.

honeymoon period is over

I can’t recommend at this point. Communication is super bad on steam. Last patch 10 days ago and no word whats going on. It feels like a pre-alpha launch and the first patch caused more troubles than it solved. Overpriced EA. Overall the projectmanagement - especially communication - feels super amateurish. Servers are already empty and i suggest to only come back if they actually pull smth out of their hat.

12.02.2019

Patch is out. Your base doesn’t seem to diasappear - as long you don’t build around reboot time. But most of the issues are still there like empty corpses and getting stuck or the market exploits. Now and then also server crashes. With a couple hours runtime, servers are almost unplayable. Especially when lots of ppl are on which is a sign that not all mem leaks are fixed. Also fellow faction members are able to glitch through doors and steal your stuff since everybody can loot your containers.

EDIT

The developer, Pixonic, has completely gone off the rails in their cash-grabbing scheme. This game is not a PTW game, it is a Pay2Play game at this point. The Steam/Facebook Gameroom clients are practically abandoned, as they are not being considered for the possible merging of the Android and iOS servers. Player count continues to plummet, and it is harder and harder for anyone to compete against the wallet warriors/hackers.

With the update introducing pilots, Pixonic has lost ALL integrity and proves to only care about those who are paying money. This game is now near impossible to play for free players once they reach Diamond League. You need to pay for gold, you need to pay for silver, and this game keeps getting kicked in its coffin by Pixonic. They lost all grip on reality, and are quite clearly riding this cash cow into the dirt.

Disgusting the amount of money and advertising of “sales” thrown in your face!

Its a good game but the pay to win is ridiculous. $99.99 “sale” for a gun and bot components??? not even A gun or A bot, no no no, components to build one when you get 10,000. I wish this wasnt sucha greed based game because it would be amazing. Its still one of my go to games but I refuse to spend $100 to buy parts so I lose a lot but I guess it helps with strategy? If I find a similar game that isnt so money grubbing Im bailing on war robots, until then, it passes the time until you get frustrated with a super meched out $1000 bot kills your 4 bots.

AirMech Strike

AirMech Strike

Updated 03/30/18 - Post Early Access

AirMech Strike is a PvP based Action RTS set in the near future, in the aftermath of an apocalyptic war that decimated humanity across the globe, driven by versatile weapons of war, AirMechs.

The basic gameplay of AirMech revolves around using one of the nine different titular AirMechs move and command an army of a variety of units, capturing outposts to serve as deployment points for new units, and ultimately destroy the event fortress.

AirMech has been called a MOBA, but I think it far more accurate to think of AirMech as an RTS where your cursor can itself damage and be damaged by enemy units. This mechanic allows in AirMech for gameplay and strategy to occur that is not found in any other game. Destroy the enemy airmech, and they’ll be unable to route reinforcements to the outpost that you’re attacking until they get back in. You’ll be able to stage a surprise assault elsewhere that they won’t be able to deal with until they respawn. Destroying the enemy airmech greatly expands your tactical options and adds a new layer of strategy to RTS.

Hey you, Yeah you!

Do you like mobas?

How about RTS games?

Giant Transforming Robots?

If you said yes to any of the above, then you should try out Airmech. If you didn’t, it is still a free game and you have nothing to lose.

Now you may be asking: “What is Airmech?” Airmech is moba style Games with some Real Time Strategy elements mixed in for a fresh spin on the classic moba gamestyle.

Players control Airmechs, giant mechs that are able to transform into various planes and helicopters at the will of the pilot. There are currently nine different airmechs(as of me typing this) that players can choose from, and more designs are planned to be added in the future! Each of the nine different airmechs play differently, each are equiped with different kinds of guns, missiles, and melee weapons along with 8 preset upgrades that will be unlocked as the mech levels up each match.
