Override: Mech City Brawl

Okay so, Despite the thumbs up there is a lot more to this.

In its current state I cannot recommend this game, depending on what you want from it.

It succeeds in one key aspect. being a party game. For the purpose of playing offline splitscreen with your mates this game is excellent. Through lack of arbitrary restrictions the combat is surprisingly deep if you decide to properly explore it.

Fundamentally this game is fantastic.

However, when it leaves the realm of split screen this game starts falling flat on almost every aspect.

I’m teetering on recommending this and telling people to flee for their lives until a few updates hit to smooth things over, and that actually punches me in the gut. It’s actually depressing that something that came off as incredibly fun during the beta is leaving me so on edge after release.

To start, the game is just as fun as you’d imagine a giant robot brawler to be. Hits actually feel like hits. When you connect with a charged attack or a nice meaty special, it feels good. The issue here is the hit detection at times. Direct hits will at times just phase through the target with no explanation, and certain moves shift the hitboxes around in the wonkiest ways.

Override 2: Super Mech League

Completely different game from the first.

the first game was like a test run not bad but needed more time to mature through the likes of a sequel and then we get override 2 a different game from the first in too many ways and just like the first it feels like it is a test run that needed more work before release both games are like tech demos… they are playable no bugs or glitches from what i can tell graphics are good (better in the first game) gameplay can be fun at times but mostly dull most fun is had with 2-4 player splitscreen especially because the game has no community but as long as you have friends/ family its a non issue however this game ditches the story mode that the first game had in place of a lazy league mode that tries to force online on you and since there is no community you wait for long periods of time for it to stop matchmaking (cant stop it unless you go offline on steam) to fight bots anyway. they also just straight took away customizations from the first game feeling like they are trying to add them later as paid dlc sleezy…. speaking of sleezy devs have a habit of releasing the game and dropping it after release they did it with the first and quickly did it with this one they are no where to be seen dont expect balance patches or qol gameplay changes to advance the game further.

Changes From Original Override

Super Mech League (SML) takes the entire game in a new direction. For the uninitiated and return players, I will outline the differences from my experience. I will try objectively list differences with my opinions on the changes listed separately. I would recommend both games, though SML provides more content and would be recommended first.

Gameplay/Combat

It is important to note that the fundamentals of fighting have changed since OG Override. In both games, each arm/punch and leg/kick was individually assigned to the shoulder and trigger buttons. This was a distinguishing feature in playing like a lumbering mech.

Bakemono is a mecha game where we are in body of a mecha anime

the stage are wonderfull and various in space and planets

the sky in the space and meteor give us the impression to be really in the space

on the planet sometimes we can too go under the water

everything is worked with a lot of care

our mecha can walk but too fly in order to fly and to can control the fly with the controler we must spend in a second mode with one buttoon and after we enable this mode we can control the mecha in the air and with this we can strike evil ship in air with our laser sword one of the best epic possibilities in the game

If you love mecha anime you will love this

Fastest VR game I have played so far. Basically Titanfall , Armored Core, and Zone of the Enders mixed together. All my Robotech / Gundam childhood dreams, the developer is obviously very passionate about mecha anime. Very fun and challenging, great music.

Great game idea! Things are getting better with time and as updates come out and always looking forward to the new parts missions coming soon. Having helped with beta testing and some ideas i can say this game is just crawling compared to where it will be when its fully released. Degradation is a fast pace new age tank game with realistic missiles and bullet drop from your choice of a variety of weapons to destroy and collect resources from other tanks and wear-houses as you progress world by world. Join your friends and battle your way up the chain and become the most well armed forces around.

Imagine a company so oblivious to the health of their game. It’s CyberStep. Save yourself the time, the money, and mental state. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GAME OR COMPANY.

No optimization for servers/ No registration on shots/ Lagging is quite literally a mechanic in this game. It is laughable the ignorance this company and dev team has. Their is a feedback thread under discussions, but it heavily falls on deaf ears.

The prices are still unreasonable after..12+ years? Hackers & cheaters flood the game’s economy and instead of directly addressing the problem, the devs took away the only way to trade among other players. Hackers & cheaters simply come back with a new account once banned, and devs turn a blind eye.

TLDR: Yes I would recommend this game to anyone who likes or is interested in this genre, but do not waste more on it than you would regret flushing down the toilet. Just enjoy it while it lasts and dont get too attached in case the devs decide to throw balance out the window and monetize like a mobile idle gacha and drive it into the ground like they did the last 2 times…

PVP/BALANCE: For now it is very much playable for f2p and the overall pvp balance is tolerable, but the developer has a proven track record of running this into the ground twice already so I wouldnt take them at their word that they learned their lesson this time, especially since the 3 times they did try balancing before concurrent players dipped to low double digits all either failed miserably (beam lasers), were blatant whale appeasement with heavy nerfs to f2p viable builds and slaps on the wrist for gacha bots (hd seraph crim and the initium duo), or ways to enforce planned obsolescence, hitting gacha bots that despite their(the dev’s) best efforts managed to remain viable in the meta for more than a few months and make way for the new wave of meta defining op (ivis and the crimson veil mechanic).

TWO IMPORTANT THINGS I WISH I KNEW ABOUT AT THE START:

  • On the home screen, there is a green button at the bottom called “Starter’s Event”. Clicking that will bring you to a hub that will lead you to your daily logins and objectives to complete. The most important tab is “Path to Greatness”. Completing objectives will lead to more pages of objective and by the end you will have a solid set of characters, weapons, stigmatas and resources. Pressing the yellow “Go!” buttons will bring you directly to the tab you need to complete said objectives. (it could be captain level locked, so just keep running story missions to get exp until it shows up).

A port of a mobile game, with all the jank that comes with it.

The level gating that you start coming across at around level 25 is a constant showstopper annoyance, stretching what would be an actually really good & reasonably length’d bayoneta style game into a weeks-long stretch between said cool content. The controls with the menu are also quite bad with a controler. I wouldn’t even deign to find out how it works with KB/M.

But ya know, I could deal with all that, if I could at least bring my existing lvl56 account into the steam version.
