Bad Rats Show

Bad Rats Show

I got this game while I was in still living with my roommate, Joey. He was a bit of a spazz, due to his autism but, my cousin was like that and I could deal. We lived together for about 2 years, and nothing really went wrong. He did fine, socially, and so did I. On like the last day I was gonna be living there, in a drunken haze with a few of my friends that we decided to do a really shitty prank of sorts on him. Basically, my friend Rashawn had a rat infestation go on and he decided to save the rat corpses to just throw them on someone and we decided it would be funny to do it then on Joey. Joey was out doing some project or just chilling with friends, idk. He’d usually just chill with the people in art school. We just hid in the house, he got home a bit earlier than usual so we had to improvise and just hide in a closet or two and wait for him to get to his room and spring our trap. After waitin a bit, we came out of the closet to see him playing some game on the computer, it was perfect. We crept forward and just dumped the rats on him, then proceded to jump around screaming “WAKA FLOCKA, WAKA FLOCKA, WAKA FLOCKA, WAKA FLOCKA, WAKA FLOCKA FLAME BRIIIIIIIIIIIIICCKKKKSQQQQQQQUAAAAAAAAADDDDDD.”

Everlasting Summer

Everlasting Summer

Everlasting Summer is a well written Visual Novel. I find the multiple choice branches to several alternate story lines and interesting endings make it a cut above most VN’s. It has existentialist { &/or multiverse } aspects, bringing to my mind Luigi Pirandello’s {1934 Nobel Laureate} play “Six Characters in Search of an Author”.

The “hidden” stories and screens in the alternate story lines add a lot to the enjoyment of the game and bring many hours of gaming enjoyment. I have found the game to be quite interesting and, as a ”Free To Play”, it’s hard to beat the price.

Everlasting Summer is a free-to-play animesque visual novel, created by Soviet Games.

The game has a pretty standart gameplay as far as visual novels go: there is a static picture that depicts your current surroundings, character sprites are placed on that picture, you read dialogues, sometimes you get to make a decision. There are few notable exceptions to that rule, but this is generally what you would expect from the game.

Everlasting Summer is extremely story-rich, one playthrough has an average span of seven in-game days, each day takes aproximately one-two hours to read through. There is an average number of 5 decisions to make per day that do have an impact on the story (so much there are actually 13 endings to discover). On top of that, ending of Day 5 and the following days are completely unique to the ending you’re heading to. You will have to play through all of them to discover all secrets of the story.

Delicious! Pretty Girls Mahjong Solitaire

Delicious! Pretty Girls Mahjong Solitaire

A tough Mah Jong game for only .99 cents.

The goal of Delicious! Pretty Girls Mahjong Solitaire is pretty simple. Beat 8 levels ( 4 rounds each ) of serious Mah Jong and then a championship ninth level. Each level is represented by a Japaneese girl who stands as your opponent, who taunts you or gets upset with you depending on how you’re playing at the time. I’m only assuming what she’s saying because she’s speaking Japaneese, and sorry there is no English voice over or subtitles, but you really don’t need them here as you can pretty much figure it out by her tone when she speaks. After you win a round, you are rewarded with a costume for that particular girl in that round, and after you win the level you are rewarded with her, a final costume (for a total of 5 costumes ), and access to her dressing room where you can change between the 5 costumes. Sorry guys, there is no nudity, and no patch to get you there, you’ll just have to use your imagination.

To start, I’d like to say that I’m a recovering Mahjong and Anime addict. This game completely ruined my progress towards getting away from these two things.

The short version is: this game is better than ‘Mahjong with fanservice’ would imply, and is worth playing.

Long version:

Let’s put the obvious to the side for the moment, and start with Mahjong itself.

To my surprise, the team did not in fact take shortcuts, and as someone who has played Mahjong WAY too much in the past, I can say the Mahjong part of this game is in fact done properly and provides good gameplay. Which means it will be just as infuriating when 70 moves ago you shoulda picked one tile instead of the other. This of course means that they got the Mahjong spot on and you WILL find yourself saying ‘just one more try’ over and over again. The stacks are as random as in any other Mahjong game. The timer is also surpsingly well calculated, and since with every match you make adding more time, you find yourself having to balance speed with good choices. It is this last bit that I particularly enjoy about this particular game, as they hit the sweet spot with this setup.

Tricolour Lovestory

Tricolour Lovestory

Firstly, in the event SakuraGame developers read these reviews, I hope to communicate my only disappointment in this title. The translation is simply terrible. Much of the text consists of idioms and literal word-for-word translation of the original language. I was able to get a sense of what was happening, but I feel I missed at least half of the potential impact this game is capable of delivering.

All else aside, Tricolour Lovestory is a bit of a hidden treasure and a rather intricate slice-of-life tale that packs an unexpected emotional punch. We are introduced to a protagonist who had suffered a lifetime of emotional, verbal, and physical abuse at the hands of his overbearing and controlling parents. The story begins with the MC recalling a fierce confrontation between himself and “them” where all ties his world outside the home are viciously torn away from him and burned before his eyes. An emergency at the factory where his father works forces “them” to move far across the country and leave the MC to fend for himself. We follow through his daily life as he explores the meaning of concepts previously foreign to him, such as love, friendship, loyalty, and freedom.

When I first bought this game, I had skepticism on whether this may be one of those poorly made, cheap, cash grab Chinese games that you tend to see flooding the Steam store nowadays. But I was proven wrong, very wrong. After completing both Daisy and Violet’s route in about 60-ish hours, I can say that this is probably one of the BEST Chinese made visual novels you can get your hands on for a relatively cheaper price to the Japanese counterparts.

Quality-wise, the game does feel a bit “unfinished” since there are a lot grammar and vocabulary mistakes within the English version of the script. Some of which don’t even match what the characters say in Mandarin. In some scenes, the script and the voice acting doesn’t even match at all, which I do believe is a bug. Despite the flaws, visually this game is very top quality with it’s character art style and auditorily, has a very beautiful and relaxing soundtrack to listen to. Not to mention, the Chinese voice acting is also very top notch.

BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light

BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light

Long time ago, I had a discussion with community, ‘If one day, you get ONE ticket to a game world, you are granted to travel there and live there forever, but you won’t be able to come back, which game will you choose to go?’ The answers were vary. To me, the answer is: the world of Blue a Reflection, there isn’t another.

As a long time fan of Blue Reflection, I am not going to praise 2nd Light sky high like I did to the first game, instead, I want to use this review to help the franchise at very least has the possibilities to improve even further for the future titles, since the 2nd game is different from the first one, we have the opportunity to see a larger scale of the world setting of the game; a bigger cast than the first one too. Before I get myself started, I’d like to state: 2nd Light has changed many things comparing to the first game, and improved A LOT regarding to combat system, general gameplay. There isn’t any doubt that Gust put tons of ideas and thought into making 2nd Light a better game, and did a great job to deliver the final product to meet fans’ expectations.

“Game is hella expensive but I still find it worth every penny for it is undoubtedly the most wholesome, most relaxing RPG experience I’ve ever had.

The yuri vibe in this one is quite strong. With or without intimate content, possibly the best yuri themed RPG to have ever hit the shelves, a.k.a. my dream game. If you are a yuri fan, I think every minute of this game is to be savored.

I’m sure post-game depression is going to hit hard with this one.”

Bokuten - Why I Became an Angel

Bokuten - Why I Became an Angel

In addition to the official content warning, there are a few more I’d like to point out, particularly if you’re going to get the R18 patch. Despite its cute visual, Bokuten contains quite a lot disturbing contents. The list goes: socially stigmatised homosexual, sexual assault, cheating, sex slavery (implied), threesome incest, masturbation in public place, etc. If you’re concerned with any of those, I’d advise you think twice whether to get the patch or the game at all.

Wouldn’t it be better if our heart could fracture and be gone with it the entailing sorrow and pain?

Real player with 71.0 hrs in game

Bokuten is an emotional and disturbing journey from start to finish. It didn’t take long before I became completely glued to this visual novel. The two main themes of this visual novel are centered around love and happiness. This involves helping out people with love problems, but there is a more realistic approach to it and not that standard romance approach where the relationship is nearly perfect and ends happily ever after. I won’t go into specifics about what type of issues are addressed here, but they are issues that can cause distress. I could pretty much always sense that something was going to go wrong with the relationships even if things felt like they were working out since this VN gave off that vibe that it would be full of depressing outcomes.

Pangeon

Pangeon

Long story short, the game does not have enough content. It has some charm, but there are other dungeon crawlers that are more worth your time.

I picked this up because I liked the aesthetic of low-poly assets and pixellated graphics. It feels like this is a demo of a game and there’s a huge chunk missing.

The game is supposedly roguelike, but the dungeon has the same layout and enemies every time. The only thing that is randomized as far as I can tell are the combat rolls and the loot rolls. That being said, there aren’t many items in the game and you can buy almost everything after a few stages.

Pangeon:

Right, here’s the deal! See the door in front of you; it’s the entrance of the Pangeon dungeon. By the way, have you heard of the Pangeon organisation? Well, it’s basically a horde of monsters running around in the dungeon corridors, and every single day more and more monsters are being created. The goal of the evil Pangeon mastermind is to free all these beasts from the dungeon at once and destroy the Earth! Thanks to you and the poor lost souls who have already entered the dungeon and slayed some monsters before perishing, that day hasn’t come yet. So, here you go, take a weapon and off you go to this terrifying dungeon!

## The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt

There are games that are beautiful to look at. Others of immense depths in gameplay or story. Some have amazing soundtracks and sound design. Few can boast to have all of the above. Red Dead Redemption, Halo CE, Mass Effect 2, Borderlands 2, Divinity Original Sin 2, etc.

Although the Witcher 3 doesnt have the most profound gameplay (a weaker point in that regard, but in no way a low point), it has all of the others.

If i were to write an in-depths review, i'd need hours and hours and obviously, more than the 3000 characters allowed. So i'll cut to the chase.

I got to this game rather late, and had honestly written it off as bad due to the…short comings of the previous two games. Having now played it however, I can say that it was worth it, and largely enjoyable. Mechanics, while not perfect were a vast improvement over previous entries. The narrative was honestly fantastic. The various methods and means to defeat monsters, and the difference in difficulty between running in half cocked or just taking a few short moments to plan and prep were great. It's failings are fairly simple and not entirely surprising.

## Trinoline All Ages Version

**BOTTOM LINE**: I felt betrayed, but I still recommend it for SHIRONE and what Sara could have been.

(Meta)spoilers ahead.

SHIRONE is a brilliant, passionate pianist android imouto with a tragic fate, thus the ultimate heroine. Or so I thought, when Sara, the scientific genius who created her, totally stole the show: she was logic and reason embodied, embedded with brutal honesty and a desperate need of love. Her arc was a fierce advance into her every spot, until reaching her innermost and becoming one by the means of a final transhuman leap… Or so I thought, before the last sprint when both Sara and SARA gave it all up to an improvised Sein-zum-Tode speech. Yuuri is barely worth mentioning; YUURI's lesson was spot on but immediately disregarded as a mistake.

I like this, I really do. I really want to recommend this highly, but I can't.

A lot of it is excellent; the stories, the morals, the thought provoking situations where I genuinely was struggling to decide what I would do in such a situation. However, some things I can't really forgive that easily really do let it down.

- Ambiguity. Two of the three routes leave off with several loose ends and unanswered questions.

- Massive amounts of build up towards particular plot points that then end blandly and minimal fanfare.
