Papertris

Papertris

Papertris is an interesting and fun arcade puzzle game in which colored cubes dissolve in all 6 possible directions and you decide where to place your cubes.

In addition, there are also power cubes and numerous possible combinations in a classic but modern and lovingly hand-painted game.

  • The Challenge mode is tricky with various tasks where the player has to solve suitable tasks in order to get to the next level, which are more difficult at each level

  • In the Endless mode, which gets faster and more difficult from level to level, you can score points as long as you can

  • The 2 player VS mode demands tactical skill in which players can use numerous combos to send each other blocking cubes to block the opponent’s options

  • Combinations of the cubes in all 6 directions

  • Atmospheric music

  • Icon option for color blind people

  • Dark mode

  • Full Controller support

The game itself was designed with a lot of fun and inventiveness with my kids (4y & 2y) and the majority of the game was hand-painted by them, which thus has a beautiful and playful charm.

We really had a lot of fun creating and collecting ideas for the game and hope to inspire you as much as we do.

Caves and Castles: Underworld

Caves and Castles: Underworld

This is a fun and interesting Match 3 game. Your character moves around a maze. They keep move until they reach an intersection. You then have a choice as to which way to go. Once you start in that direction, you cannot stop and turn around. You follow the path until you reach another intersection, the end of the path (which turns your character around and brings them right back to the intersection), an obstacle, or the exit. It’s not free-roam.

When they reach an obstacle, you use Match 3 basics to Match around the object and destroy it. This is where all of the Matching comes in. There are different obstacles and different ways to destroy them. Match around the object to destroy it, speed match until the bar reaches full, and drop keys to the bottom of the board. Defeat the hazard, and your character keeps going.

Really cute match-3 game. Nice concept with the dungeon crawling aspect. My only complaint is that it’s not long enough. I hope there are more chapters to come!

Hexagun

Hexagun

Update: After the recent patch, the slowdowns seem to be gone (although it’s still a bit choppy). Thank you for that! Hexagun is a pretty nice puzzle game, ideal for short breaks. Well worth its money.

Original review:

Promising game. Sadly, slows down immensly after running a while, up to the point where it shows less than one frame a second and becomes unplayable. Puts about 25 % CPU load on a Ryzen 7 2700X and takes up 1,5 Gigs of RAM right from the start, which does seem to be a bit steep for what is essentially a browser game … Really needs to be optimized! Until then, I cannot recommend this, sorry. Would really like to play it because it is quite relaxing until it becomes unplayable.

Sysifos style activity in unique looking match-3 game that seems relaxingly way too easy yet autistically forces you to never quit because of cleverly set hard to notice pace in which it always adds some new clumsiness so that you feel urge to clean it, over and over, with two ambient melodies that annoyingly switch from one to the other over and over. Worth the few cents I bought it for, not more. I believe the game could be professionally developed into a very nice game if someone wanted. You can ask my help if that happens.

Puzzle Forge Dungeon

Puzzle Forge Dungeon

Puzzle Forge Dungeon is continuing to develop into a fun, unique experience that I’ve never really been able to explain to others. I’ve also never really seen any game like it before - save its precursor, puzzle forge 2 on the app store. It’s a bit of a puzzle-RPG-slight roguelite, and its a ton of fun.

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes

This game is good, but it’s definitely not actually a 90 hour game despite my playtime. It’s a great game to sort of leave open and stop into occasionally through the day to play a level or two of the campaign.

Calling it a match 3 game is selling it short – your pieces are actually unique units with different abilities that level over time. Your units are arranged in a grid, and you can only move the unit on the bottom row. Match three of the same type vertically, and they will go into an attack formation which launches at your opponent in a few turns. Match three horizontally, and they will make a defensive wall. Different units have varying stats and abilities which can really change the way you play, and make it actually a reasonably involved puzzle figuring out how to best counter the enemy’s unit composition and layout. E.g. if they have a large special unit on the field, some of which require a match 5 to launch bu make up for it with huge damage, you might want to kill it off with a fast-attacking smaller unit first. Leveling units makes them more effective, but more of the strategy comes in selecting which units to actually include in your army – different units synergize together better than others.

Different addition to the Heroes of Might and Magic series. This time you have a strategy RPG mixed with puzzles and match 3 battles. And all of it works perfectly. Although the gameplay is in theory still the same = repetitive, it’s actually rather addictive and variable as the battles are changing, developing and can get pretty challenging. Diversion to the main story lines are bounty quests, puzzle challenges and artifacts scattered around. Also you can skip random fight encounters if you don’t want to waste time with small fishes, but they are a good sport to get your units leveled up.

Crown of Pain

Crown of Pain is a match-3 RPG. Heroes venture to the castle to find the elusive crown of pain, an artifact which is said to take away all of their worries.

Gem Forge

Gem Forge

Gem Forge is a simple and basic match 2 puzzle game with 2 modes, a 4x4 and 8x8. They both work the same way by matching up the color and shapes with the same type for the highest possible score but the 8x8 game mode has gems that get locked and you have to use one of the same type of gem to unlock that space to keep going.

Ever played “2048” before? If not, try it out right now: http://2048game.com/

“Gem Forge” by Bogemic Games (current Steam username “redhat”) is just like that, with all the addiction, but with colorful gems instead of numbers. 💎

Here’s what else it has:

👍 A nice, fiery background (which is now animated via a prior update) that gives the feel of being in a forge.

👍 Keeps track of your highest score.

👍 Steam Achievements; some are rare enough to be ranked in your “Rarest Achievements” showcase. …That actually goes to show how rare people play this game. In fact, this is only the 20th review for it overall. ☹️

MOVERS IN THE WAREHOUSE

MOVERS IN THE WAREHOUSE

Lucky me gets to write the first review for “MOVERS IN THE WAREHOUSE”, a GameMaker Studio template flip from asset flip scammers, Piece of Voxel.

MOVERS IN THE WAREHOUSE is a lazy failed mobile app that was dumped on Steam as a cash grab by asset flippers, Piece of Voxel. It’s a basic match-3/platformer hybrid where you jump over falling crates and push them together to match 3 crates of the same colour. The only distinctive feature of this GameMaker Studio template flipped match-3 is that it features particularly bad hand-drawn “art”, worse than the game template it was copied from.

Quest for Runia

Super relaxing game for a bit of cooling down after work.

The Controls are far better then i expected them to be.

It happens far less then i thought it would, that i aim at a point on the far end of the ‘gaming table’ and miss the spot i aimed for.

The graphics are a bit bright.. too colorful for my taste, but it doesnt hinder the experience at all. If you like them - even better.

The music adds to the relaxing experience.

The tutorial makes it look like an easy game, but you will soon see, that you have to watch carefully and think a bit before starting a level.

Very nice relaxing game to pause your brain from lockdown, politics, household and so on… I love puzzles and played a lot of Bejeweled on the phone. This is my new Bejeweled in VR - sit down, chill and forget the time. At the beginning it seems easy, but it gets challenging quickly. Above all, I’m someone who always wants three stars, even in other bubbleshooters, and here I haven’t reached them all yet…

I think it might appeal to young and old and VR newcomers, if they love puzzles.
