Gems of Magic: Father’s Day
Every time a cheerful father and son venture out together, they end up in problems. That doesn’t stop them to take a walk through the mountains! What can go wrong in a peaceful natural setting? Then father takes a tumble. Luckily, he’s fine but he ended up down the mountain while his son is still on top of the mountain!
Help this clumsy but caring dad to find his son as soon as possible. Work your way through numerous levels filled with coloured stones to climb up. Make as many combinations of three or more identical stones as possible to remove all obstacles on your path and conquer the mountain.
Can you meet all level goals and earn three stars in each level? Use various power-ups to complete levels with greater ease. Don’t keep the little boy waiting for too long because he’s pretty lonely on top of the mountain. Enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and reunite father and son as quickly as possible! "

Jewels of the Mysterious Woodland
Overall: Eh.
I bought this because I’m struggling to find simple games on Steam that don’t try to incorporate story elements or other types of gameplay.
This game is fine, it’s simple and straightforward. It doesn’t bother trying to shoehorn in some adventure.
Cons:
It’s hard to figure out what everything does, how a level ends, and I didn’t realise it was even timed until the 5th time the game just stopped and told me that I had lost.

Unsatisfying experience.
Bad game design.
Poor controls.
Annoying sound effects.
Many beautiful pictures and meditative music but it doesn’t save the day.

In this video I take a look at Angkor: Runefall, a nice new match three from HH-Games and Ironcode.
This is a refreshing change, it has it’s own look and way of doing thing from most of the HH-Games match threes. It still keeps all of the flare but looks different and has some unique perks. I enjoyed it and think it’s worth a look for a match 3 change.

Halloween Trouble 2
This is ok as a basic match 3 game. Unfortunately, it introduces many new game elements after level 9 with absolutely no explanation and no clear way to deduce what they mean, how they work, or how to play them. A simple icon/mechanics glossary page would be a simple solution. Or even a manual, but I know such archaic things as how-to-play documents are now anathema to game designers (or publishers).

I f you like Match 3 you’ll enjoy this game…fun story and it has a good mix of mini-games too. The music is appropriate and I LOVE the piano!

Hanoi Puzzles: Flip Match
A simple change in the game mechanic gives the puzzles a new way to solve. I am just as happy with this game as the previous version.
Some puzzles are straight forward early on to learn some basic concepts of moving and solving. Then later the solutions are not as obvious and you get to plan out your moves. But if you dont want to solve for the minimum moves, you can just move as much as you want. Being able to move to the next level with the “correct” solution, is huge for me.
The music is still calm and fits the style. Some of the music is a little bit… stronger or more aggressive compared to the previous game, but still calm and in the background.

Very challenging puzzles and the soundtrack is really good,
Recommended!

Mystery Loss
Mystery Loss is a casual match-3, with a story that - at least in English - makes no sense and is impossible to follow. You would think Steam “quality control” would disallow games like that. Regardless… Levels are very hit-or-miss with no sense of increasing difficulty. That is, the levels can be very difficult without getting lucky or using a ton of “power up”, which cost coins, which are very limited. The fun fades quickly to the point I play 1 or 2 levels just to move forward a bit and then quit for a day or two. There are much better Match-3 games out there. The characters a cool for the first 10 levels or so then get annoying.

There’s no option to stop the “suggestion” moves. It gets annoying.

Mermaid Adventures: The Frozen Time
Mermaid Adventures: The Frozen Time’s core idea is having an enjoyable mix of various casual mini-games, wrapped in a comic-style story. However, as soon as one starts playing, it becomes obvious that despite the good intentions, the implementation is very messy and at times even dreadful.
The story is decent and nicely presented. The undersea world has been bewitched by an evil octopus and its servants; the only one who can break this spell is the mermaid Alice, who remained unaffected by this charm; she now needs help in gathering magical clock parts, scattered throughout the game. Every 10 levels there’s a comic panel, unraveling a new page of the story - these are beautifully drawn, colorful and very enjoyable.

5 Star Hawaii Resort - Your Resort
As with most Roka games the graphics are delightful. The music is very fitting to the Hawaiian theme. While I am recommending this game for true match three aficionados, I must say it is very grindy at the higher levels. A few puzzles seem almost impossible to beat with three stars, and you’re pretty lucky to finish with one or two stars.
Of course the building aspect of the resort is cute and fun. I have to admit the puzzles are very well made, but getting stuck and grinding for literally hours makes the game a bit frustrating and unplayable. I’m no expert or whiz at match three. It’s only because of Roka games I learned to be as good as I am. But even with my skill level at least three of the puzzles so far do have me frustrated to the point of wanting to quit the game.

5-Star Hawaii Resort is a fun, mostly relaxing match-3 game with some resort building tossed in. The levels are not consistent in the difficulty, so at times you will finish a level without even realizing it, while other times you may need to replay it multiple times (and I mean multiple!) to achieve 3 stars, if you care about that. I really recommend playing Hawaii Resort BEFORE playing the newer, and improved, 5-Star Miami Resort. Going backwards may be a little difficult as there are no power-ups in Hawaii Resort.
