What’s new if this type of game has been already done to death?

  • Cute silly story which you don’t need in order to play (kinda appropriate for kids)

  • Some extras which make it more enjoyable than open or free games in the same vein

  • Game modes always challenging you and pushing you to the next level

  • Nice audio tracks

  • Overall sense of action and a feeling of joy

What’s bad with it?

Not much that I can say. I have enjoyed lots of hours of casual play and have already achieved whatever I supposedly wanted from it. There’s some replayability value but I’m already done at 12 hours (check my status and you’ll see if I reinstalled and kept playing later on).

Review from a Hardcore Tetris Attack/Planet Puzzle League Player

When I saw this on sale, it was an instant buy! I was jonesing to flip some panels like back in the old days! As someone who played an unhealthy amount of Tetris Attack/Panel De Pon and Planet Puzzle League when I was younger, I can honestly say that I got my money’s worth here. If you’re familiar with the formula of those games, you’ll feel right at home here, and at the asking price, it’s honestly a steal!

You have to clear 40 levels by playing away all colored blocks by pushing them together in a line or hook.

Moves can be undone. There is no penalty, no number of moves target.

The levels are not too easy, which is nice. I finished them a first time in 2 hours.

The music is not annoying, volume and effects can be adjusted as well as the resolution and screen mode.

Too bad the movement is a little bit sluggish. I prefer being able to play fast.

Apart from the fact I wished there were more levels, it’s the only minor issue I had.

Brilliant genre combination. Needs more levels though, Totally worth the $2.

The game was provided for free and activation indicated a (beta) in the title.

The game appears from my 1 hour play session to not be a beta and a finished product.

First Impression and Conclusion: RECOMMENDED.

This is a solid Indie Match-3 that any Match-3 fan would likely enjoy.

Why? Well… I burned the rice. Yep, that is correct, because I burned my rice.

My dog, was very pleased I burned the rice, so my dog recommends this game too!

Dress-Up Pup is another story themed Match-3 game about a Fashion Agency for dogs at the request of their range of odd ball human owners & guardians. The game mixed a few gaming elements appropriate for a Match 3 game, such as simple putting puzzle pieces together to complete a picture between levels or chapters and of course the story theme of the game. This all provides a nice transition between chapters and didn’t take away from the “fun” of Match-3.

Holiday Bonus GOLD

Holiday Bonus GOLD

Around 22 hours of no-frills uber-casual Match 3 gaming. You basically clear the board as fast as you can, and it’s very unlikely you will get stuck with no available moves - it only happened to me once. I kind of wish that matches over 3 gave you obvious benefits, because the special tile drops seemed pretty random, and it would have provided incentive to make larger matches. Despite the simple, low pressure game-play, getting into the matching groove was good, and the holiday theme and seasonal music were enjoyable. Extremely wholesome. This is the perfect timekiller for coffee breaks at work, or something to play with your family in the room when you can’t afford to devote intense concentration to gameplay. Looking forward to trying the others in the series.

In this winter game we swap all sorts of Holiday items to play a relaxing Match-3 game. While you play, the music and sound effects will accompany you quiet nicely to ensure that you have a pleasant game play. There are also beautiful backgrounds you can stare at and enjoy.

Overall, there are 55 Regular and 55 Golden Levels, so you can complete the Christmas Tree. You also unlock background gallery as well!

So this game is based on luck. As in you don’t make Match-4+ or Match-5+ for power ups. They just randomly come up. There are also mysterious “?” bags with a random power up upon a mouse click.

Spring Bonus

Spring Bonus

This is the second casual coffee-break friendly match-3 I’ve played from Grey Alien, and I’m going to say this is an improvement over Holiday Bonus Gold. Besides there being a lot more variety in your screen-to-screen goals (you may have to match a certain number of a particular tiles, allow some unmatchable tiles to drop down the bottom, break some frozen tiles or a combination), the easy access to the Timed mode gives the game a lot more urgency. I’m usually not a fan of hurried puzzle games, but until level 98 (curse you level 98…), I had no problems beating the allotted times for each round. Cheerful music, though the art does look a bit Hallmark card-ish. Looking forward to rounding out the trilogy with Spooky Bonus next.

Enjoyable cute Match-3 with good game length (played through all 100 levels). Nice for relaxing :)

Soundtrack gets annoying after a while, though you can disable it.

There are no Steam cards, Steam backgrounds or achievements for it though.

Suddenly Meow

Suddenly Meow

It’s the best Macht 3 game I’ve played for many reasons that I’ll explain:

Generally this genre is based only on matching 3 or more gems or objects and scoring, it can be good as a pastime but it is a bit of a repetition because you always do the same things every level.

“Suddenly Meow” is different because you do not have to match gems at random, but according to a scheme that we must understand to create a road and allow our cat to get to the fish.

Each level changes because while we play we have to break boxes, run magnets to move objects, cut down bushes to find hidden objects and more; it is not a passive game but active because it is necessary to reason and understand how to set a suitable path for Tim

Real player with 9.3 hrs in game

Suddenly Meow is a match 3 that took me by surprise. It was exceptionally good and refreshing! I would categorize it as classic puzzle and not just a simple match 3. This is not only because it runs in 3 different modes (relaxing, limited moved and timed) but mainly because of the “tasks” you need to do to clear each level. The first 20-30 out of 90 levels keep introducing you to new mechanics and “tasks” as well as mini games and your hideout (aka a type of “level up” system).

You are trying to help the cat make its way through the forest that got lost in. The introduction of the new elements in the puzzles are very smooth and clear and if you get confused, a help book is available to remind you of how it works. You also get a hideout early on in which you unlock various power ups and decorate your cat’s hideout with them.
