Aberoth
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result.”
Aberoth is what I like to describe as a hardcore PVP “grind” type of MMO, where your “results” are not guaranteed to come to fruition, or even acknowledged. Your very presence matters in this game, with a limited number of realms to house players in, you become a contender of resources, whether you are a new player or very seasoned at that- as this is what this game is- a game of containers and resources, where every mob and every instance of a possible resource being contested at any given moment.

WOW. The Steam Community completely failed this game. This is the reason these games don’t exist - you try to make a game that does new things, and the gamers flood in, play for 10 minutes, then stamp a negative review on a game they shouldn’t have been playing anyway. Why would you play a game you’re conceptually opposed to, and not willing to learn? You were told from the start that this game has open PvP and stiff penalty for death. If you can’t stomach that, why are you here? That’s a freaking core game mechanic! Why kill progress for a niche group who desperately wants something like this to grow? At least 90% of the games out there are happy to cater to your childish mentality, where death means nothing more than a free teleport back to town and fully restored health.

Realm of the Mad God Exalt
I’ve been playing this game since it was on browser back in 2011, so I’d like to think I have some experience or at least enough time put in to give my opinion on the game, so here it is:
The game has come a long way, and I still remember having the time of my life back then - dying and learning from my mistakes, getting excited from T5 items, and being proud of myself for soloing snake pits. It was a simple time, but time moves on and to live in the past and say it was a better time is just false. A lot has changed from then, and most of it was for the better. Exalt is the most recent example of the game forever changing for the better, but I still have a few problems with the game. First, I feel the game is just one big grind. Don’t get me wrong though, I think the nature of white bags and the idea of perma-death is the games biggest strength, but I also feel the sense of teamwork and coordination is long gone. So many times do I see a server full/crowded, but the realms themselves are empty. Where are the people you ask? Sitting in nexus waiting for someone to throw money at the screen so they can pop a dungeon, just for everyone to sit in spawn room waiting for one person to rush to boss so that it can be steamrolled and the process can repeat. I have had multiple friends try the game out, and almost all of them have lost interest fairly quick, but my most recent friend said something that stayed with me when I asked for his opinion. He said that the game wasn’t bad, but it felt very brain-dead not giving him an objective other than shoot monster. This leads into my next point: The game is horrible for new players. The tutorial has be revised, but I feel it doesn’t do enough to give new players direction. Sure, you could say that the fun of the game is finding out for yourself, but after he asked when he should move on to the next area it was clear the game didn’t really set a scene for him. All he know at that point was he was a guy who shoots enemies to gain XP, and possible loot. He didn’t know where to go or how things worked, which is fine until I asked him if he was having fun and responded with: I wish there was more progression than kill enemies and move onto next area. Things just became more clear that he was lost when i had to explain to him how to teleport, something I dont believe the tutorial tells you about. Just like every other new player, he was also greeted with spam in the nexus about external websites and instant 8/8, which he didnt even know what the concept of potion maxing was at the time, because once again it isnt mentioned in the tutorial. Finally, my biggest problem with the game: pets. I was very excited when I found out pets were finally going to do something other than follow you around and look cute, and im not going to lie I was a huge fan when they first introduced pet abilities. This was, however, very shorted lived when I found out the grind nature of pets. First, you have to randomly be dropped an egg, use the egg in the pet yard, and hope it has heal and magic heal - the only 2 abilities that matter other than electric. That find an dandy until you realize you have to use fame to feed the pet, then you have yo use fame to upgrade the yard in order to further feed it, and then use fame to fuse the pet. But heres the catch: if you don’t feed the pet fully, or fuse properly you could screw up and get something useless to you. Pets are such a big part of the game, so big that there is literally a status effect that disables your pet. So the fact that they are locked behind so much grind (or a pay wall), baffles me. Gone are the days of being able to play realm without a pet, and if you do play without a pet you have to be in a big group to compensate for your lack of heal and magic heal. I don’t wish for the removal of pets, they are way to integrated into the game for removal. I do think they should be either nerfed, or easier to obtain. My big complaint with the game is that we focus so hard on end game stuff that the beginner stuff is lost. Maybe allow new players to start off with a half maxed common pet with heal and magic heal, or make it so players have to rely on team work over a Divine pet.

Ok after 10 years and thousands of hours of playing (imagine think i only played 2k hours), I would not recommend this pile of sh*t to anyone in its current state (which persist since years).
At this point i just want to quote an user of the rotmg-reddit since this is exactly my point of view and i would def write the exact same.

“I feel like noone really cares enough or talks about the actual state of rotmg game health in 2021. Sure you see people complain, but as players there’s so many unacceptable things which we just tolerate and let Deca get away with instead of pushing for them to fix it.

If you like classic MMOs, you should check out this game!
Its plays like a hybrid of Caves of Qud; Runescape and RPG-MO … with three major improvements:
1. Responsive Developers who are super passionate about the game, the players, and consistently deliver updates + new content. They draw inspiration from the player base and deliver content people want. You truly feel like you as a player are shaping the game and that the developers live up to their mission in building a game that they themselves love to play!

Kingdom of Loot
I SUGGEST YOU DO NOT BUY THIS GAME UNLESS YOU HAVE MANY FRIENDS TO PLAY WITH. There are no players left playing and while it is true that my review reflected the game it probably doesn’t anymore - My review was in 2017 June.
Slightly changed my review. Last updated on June the 3rd.
After 300 hours of gameplay, I am ready to write a review
The game is, as advertised, an RPG game. Although level cap is 30 after level 30 there’s still some stuff to do; You can get so much better gear than your average gear. To review this game it’s important to explain how looting system works;

I’ve been a long-time supporter and player of Kingdom of Loot, so I may be biased as I say this: I recommend this game wholeheartedly. I could have used the Steam Key they had given me so I could play for free; however, I wanted to support them and the game. I believe that the KoL Team will be able to make this game a big success, as they have great plans for KoL, and I can’t wait to see the game bear fruit. But I’m writing this as a review, so let me review it:
The Team is constantly answering questions on the forums, as well as fixing bugs. The only issue that has made this game unplayable for me and many of the players were a CPU issue. HOWEVER, that has been patched, making the game so much more playable, and enjoyable. Everything is so much smoother and less laggy. They actually listen to the players of the game; leave a suggestion and more often than not, it will eventually be added to the game.

Fighters Wizards
Well worth the price, polished and refined combat mechanics, nice spell variety keeps the game interesting and fun to play. An absolute blast to play with my friends, you definitely get what you pay for with this simple game, honestly sets the bar for AAA titles and I hope to see more big name game companies follow in its footsteps. 10/10, I definitely will put more time into this masterpiece and recommend it for anyone looking for a high quality platform fighter to spend hours playing.

Manyland
I really enjoy this game, as I’ve always loved making pixel art and building in a community-based sense. (I hail from the days of ThePalace and it’s ‘apartment’ worlds.) Because it is still a game that recieves updates, the nature of its abilities change now and then.
At the current date (5/2/2018), here is a list of things I find good and bad about Manyland.
GOOD -
Ability to create pixel art with a large amount of color slots
Scripting language is fairly easy to learn and there are complex guides on the main website
– Real player with 443.1 hrs in game
Manyland is a weird game that’s for sure. This game is something unlike anything else I have ever played. Its a social game where you can build anything you want. It sets itself apart from other 2D or Sandbox games because when I say you can build anything I truly do mean that. In fact I would say that if you want to make some cool pixel art and share it with a small group of people this game might actually not be half bad. For everyone else its a way different story though
This game is a social game and if you have seen other games like this then you might already know where this is going. The community of Manyland is one of the single worst I have ever seen. It is as toxic as a Xbox Voice Chat while being as weird as Gacha Life. This community is, at least currently, an utter shit show of horny teens trying to e-date. I have meet and spoken to quite a number of people on this game to try and see if there is any “normal” people on this game. The short answer is no. This game has fallen so far into obscurity that the only people to find this game are not people that are enjoyable to talk to.

NEStalgia

UPDATE:
We’re nearing a year without official servers (the game trailer says it’s 24/7 OFFICIAL servers), in my eyes, that’s false advertising. Secondly, the last blogpost (which I consider as the last time the dev has said anything in response to this game) was in 2016, in fact, September of 2016.
There’s also broken parts of the game that make the game unplayable, specifically phantoms. You see, phantoms are unique in the sense that they are essentially replicas of any mob in the game with few exceptions. This is what the “real” grind of the game is, to essentially “catch them all”, something you can’t do unless the server is running v1.73.3 - the last version where phantoms were not broken.

NEStalgia
This game is a game I have dreamed about since youth, an MMO RPG with Monster collecting. With steam flooded with subpar JRPGS, NEStalgia is a diamond among coal. Whether you play in your own world with friends using the super simple server hosting or you play on the Official Multiplayer Server this game is fun for all.
Pros ~~~
The Official Server is by far one of the best thing about this game, being able to connect with people anywhere at any level is fantastic. The community for this game is wonderful. Everyone is helpful and pleasant. Not only can you PVP, and party up to PVE, there are several other multiplayer features that rise NEStalgia above others including a players market, guild creation, private local world guild and party chat, daily events, and much more.

Pixel Worlds: MMO Sandbox
The core methods of earning currency and ‘profiting’ are fun, such as mining and fishing, but unfortunately the game does suffer from power creep. Older features (such as the Nether) are neglected and no longer worth your time compared to other features, if you’re purely looking to profit that is.
The developers focus too much on bringing in new players with new features and they don’t take the time to refine old features and cater to their veteran players. As a result of this, some features feel neglected and aren’t worth your time, such as the best set contest which is widely regarded as one of the weaker features they’ve introduced.

Played this game back in 2017-2018. Game is utter trash. If you get scammed, there is 0 customer support. Reporting system is complete nonsense. Snitching on players in forums, who broke ToS and guidelines is against their rules. That’s just… Mind blowing. Got scammed, dragged into a flame war, was told it was my fault I got scammed, and got banned from the forums. And get this, the scammer was a hacker with teleport hacks. They had buddies who laughed at me after my items were stolen in the rigged trade. My dignity broke. PMed a dev with proof and to check the logs, and a mod banned me. I couldn’t even believe it. I still have the pictures on my phone. To this day, I still haven’t gotten my money or items back. As if they can’t do a rollback on my player information to recover my lost items. How’d I get dragged into this hellish game? An ad on YouTube. My dumbass played this shit for 2 years. I spent money on the Winter Boosters. I got lucky and got the Frost Sword. I have a screenshot of it. Sold it for a 1PL. Traded that for an Umbrella and had 50 WLS leftover. Umbrella and other stuff got scammed. My 50 WLS were stolen. If you’re going to play this game on Steam or Mobile… Don’t. For your sake, do not play this game. It’s like gambling… Except your entire monthly savings goes into this game. If you’re not going to spend money, it’s your time that you’re wasting. You can play a much more fulfilling game than this garbage. The community is toxic. Forums. Don’t go there. Website isn’t even secure with HTTPS or something. The sheep flock to the popular, well known, oldest users, staff, and whatnot. It’s not worth your time trying to make friends on there. The game is heavily pay to win. Unless you’re the patient type who likes to waste your precious lifespan over wasting your money, you’re not going to make much progress into building your character. The friend system is useless because everyone is a scumbag. Not my opinion. It’s a known fact in every game. Finally… You get disconnected every 2 minutes. I’ve got the minimum requirements for this game and more… But it’s still not enough. Breaking a block, the game freezes. Doing nothing, game disconnects and reconnects. If I could report this game for fraudulent activity, I would do so in a heartbeat. Otherwise… Good luck. Once again, I have been sucked into this nightmare. If you see me in game, lets talk about life.Update 9/14/20… Yes. I’m still playing this game Why the hell am I still playing this game.So I got banned on 9/13/20 for “hacking”. I didn’t use hacks. Complete and utter bs. I emailed support on the same day with non-tampered hard evidence supporting the fact that I don’t hack.I mean… I thought this it was a joke. Maybe they were pulling a prank on me or something. But no… When it looked like I got disconnected… Boom… Banned forever. So far… I haven’t receive a response. Although it has only been 12 hours, I have given the mods, admins, and devs a ONE WEEK notice before I file a claim for online consumer fraud.I haven’t gotten a response yet for the reason why I’ve been banned for “violating” their Terms of Service… You would think that three years of playing, I would never get banned for hacking. This is so out of the blue and completely f—ing random as s—.If support doesn’t unban me and wipe the slate clean from my record, I’m going to come out with all the emails on imgur so get ready for that… If they do revoke my ban, my finger is already ready to click send at anytime should they falsely ban me again. Also, the irony of this situation. I absolutely despise hackers. If you’ve ready my story above, you’ll understand. So then… Why the hell would I do something that I reject so much. It is against my very nature to cheat… Especially in a shoddy Minecraft, Terraria, GT ripoff with zero in-game optimization. For your sake and for mine… Don’t play this game. I’ve lost all my good items now. I can never restart from scratch. This is rough.9/17/20 I got unbanned. I’m not sure if I should be happy… Or sad. Maybe I’ll actually quit soon…

Warspear Online
EDIT: Game is still good, they are adding new content, it became a LITTLE easier to find friends and guilds, but its still mostly people who know eachother and it will be hard if you start anew but it is possible.
Things arent overpriced anymore and its not that hard to grind gear and stuff anymore (It is hard, but not as hard as before, because with addition of new content you can make some nice gold)
Players started realizing how it is and are helping A LITTLE bit more, at least on US and EU servers where i play, i cant speak for others.

Highly recommend this game if you are into mmorpgs, it had received an award for the best mobile MMO RPG game in 2015.
The gameplay itself is very attractive with its 2D top down view and the artwork of the characters, gear and locations. It can be considered similar to Runescape and World of Warcraft.
Characters can be chosen from 4 different factions, Forsaken, Mountain clan, Chosen and Elves. Each faction has 4 different heroes to choose from which range from supports, damagers and defence heroes. Each faction starts at their own first map and after completing the quests in all zones you will proceed to the second map. The factions will then merge but into two. The chosen and elves and then the Mountcain clan and Forsaken. This map will have many quests, bosses and dungeons to complete until you proceed to the next map Ayvoldil where you will proceed to level up your character more.
