Astonia Resurgence

Astonia Resurgence

Astonia Resurgence is a great version of the old school Astonia 3 MMORPG.

For new players: it is an older game, so visually it might not be as appealing as some 4k games you can play. Howver it has unique leveling and stat systems that make it pretty enjoyable if given the chance. Stick around a few hours and you’ll find it’s quite fun. I still hop on old runescape for the sheer fun, not for the visual perfections.

As an old school player there are Some Nice Quality of life updates from the original such as su/gu and most things you pick up going directly into inventory, all the orbs( 10-RD99) now being located in an area in Aston. (Running orb alts used to be a pain).

First of all I must preface that this game is a revamped version of a 30 year old game and through the decades there have been several attempts from other servers to bring it back to life.

Personally this is hands down the best version released to date. OW Astonia was a grind, and is not for most people since fighting and movement aren’t in 3D and there’s not really button mashing like some of the newer RPGs. That being said there are a lot of improvements to quality of life that have already been implemented since release and surpass other servers by leaps and bounds. I really appreciate the community and it does seem to be growing, a mix of knowledgeable OW players with new ones coming on. Developers are constantly adding Quality Of Life/New updates on a timely and consistent manner and any issues are quickly resolved. Suggestions are taken into consideration and implemented. I’d highly recommend joining the discord server as well as there is a lot of useful information for new players already pinned.

FINAL FANTASY® XI: Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition

This game is not for everyone. Many people coming from other MMOs seem to often misunderstand that the design of FFXI is simply made with a philosophy that is quite different. Consequently, this seems to lead some to go into it expecting the game to try and accomplish a lot of the goals that are now standard in the genre. I believe this unfortunately sours the experience for many. Nevertheless, if you are willing to set aside your notions of what MMOs should be and do, there is a great experience waiting for you in FFXI.

Idk where to begin or how to end on this review. Ima just try to make it short (Maybe it will be long) and simple. Btw my main character name is “Ghostmonkey”, for those who want to add me.

The Pros:

-The game does indeed have a good amount of players, if you know which server to join.

Asura is the one for non-japanese players and most populated.

So don’t be discouraged to buy the game if you are concerned about the game being dead.

-Another note is how friendly the community is. I started in my first 2 and a half minutes and already approached by a veteran.

Very fun and easy to learn. Lots of quests you can do on your own as well as with others. Really enjoyable. Haven’t played the second one yet but know some things about it. If you are more into graphics I’d say just buy the second one…although this one isn’t bad by any means. Anyway, spent many hours and many sleepless nights on this fun RPG!

A great Demo to decide whether you gonna buy and subbing the actual game (Some Country / Region may not have access to the full edition via steam, for example Indonesia. So it’s better to start free trial from the official website https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com or https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com & buy the full game there) OR chilling for its early contents, PVP and have fun in “Gold Saucer”.

Free trial has few restriction and quite heavily in social functions, mostly to prevent RMT (Real money trading) in the game.

If you ever played Final Fantasty XI, you will feel right at home with this MMO. This game is essentially the spiritual successor of of Square’s previous MMO, but re-labeled, re-jigged and re-adjusted to be an excellent MMO in the modern world.

Aside from the usual quality-of-life features one would expect in today’s era (rested exp, dungeon-party-finder, fast travel, etc), there are a few uncommon, but incredibly well-executed features of this game.

1- In-depth main story: This game has a very long, main campaign that will take you across it’s beautifully designed world in a JRPG-esque story. It starts off simple, then gets very grand and epic in scale, pulling you more into the world, the longer you play. Other MMO’s have stories, but very few of them are as well-executed, or even emphasized like this game does.

Pros:

-Great Community: Everyone knows everyone. Players are extremely friendly and welcoming to new players and there are guilds for all skill lvls to join. The community is more like a big Family.

-Great Devs: The devs are super passionate about the game. They listen a lot to community feedback and ideas and are good at filtering out the bad ideas.

-Buy once never pay again: There is not even option to spend more money on the game after you bought it. No ingame shop, no lootboxes, no dlcs, nothing. It has gotten to a point where many players want the devs to set up a way to donate because they feel like the game deserves more then 10€ for what it offers.

This game is not your usual mmorpg. It harkens back to older days in games like Oldschool Runescape,Ultima etc. When MMORPGS weren’t focused on endgame content or getting to the max level the fastest to grind gear. But were about the adventure, about honing your skills exploring the world discovering its secrets making your own discoveries and being rewarded for them. This game might not look the best with its old graphics and poorly animated attack animations. but The world the exploration, the quests feeling like actual quests all make this game enjoyable. let me give you a example of a quest. while exploring a the town of Yorkhill I came across the ghost of a lady who can’t leave to go to the afterlife till her husbands body has been laid to rest. So I have to go out find a group of grabs and kill them get the husbands remains bury them then go back and talk to the ghost lady. she still can’t rest because the Spirit of her second husband hasn’t been put to rest. He was a fighter so in order for his spirit to rest he needs to have a good fight. She tells me I need to go to East athagos and Shout his name to summon his spirit. So I go out to East Athagos I type out the spirits name in chat and send it and out of nowhere a red fiery angry spirit shows up and engages me in combat. I best the spirit in combat return to the female ghost speak with her and am told despite all of this She still can’t rest because the bones of her third husband haven’t been placed in her grave next to her. (OH COME ON!) luckily this was a very simple task since he was buried in the same grave yard as she was. I dig up his remains take them to her grave place them inside her grave and finish the quest. being then rewarded with a cutlass 1000 silver and bracers that require level 25 in light armor to wear. The cutlass being a very powerful single handed weapon. This is but one of the many interesting quests waiting to be discovered and done. The world is large and full of things to explore, to find to discover there are no signs on your map telling you where things are. you will have to discover them yourself. If you want you can engage other players in PvP green, yellow, orange and red zones. which is a nice system Green zones when killed you drop 20% of what you’re carrying Yellow is 30% orange 40% and red 80%. This system would be great if there were more people playing this game however population atm is quite small. I would like to see it grow in the future But many people these days seek instant gratification rather than having to work towards something. This game is very Grindy its a rewarding type of grind but if you aren’t one for those kinds of things then you will probably not enjoy this game as much. I recommend this game to anyone looking for a non linear and interesting sandbox game so long as they don’t mind poor graphics and animations. if you’re looking for good graphics fast gameplay and having things just handed to you then this game is not for you. Overall a rewarding experience I hope more quests get implemented and the other area’s of the map get more filled with things to do and unique monsters.

I think this game has a ton of potential. There is a lot of work that needs to be done. At roughly 100 hours I’m wrapping up basically everything you can do in this game so… But to me 10 dollars for 100 hours is a steal.

DreamScapes Dimensions

DreamScapes Dimensions

Let me begin this by saying that how you feel about DreamScapes will, to a great degree depend on what you believe, or expect, a Steam Early Access MMO from an indi developer is going to be.

I downloaded the game last night and, like other players, I had to wait for a long loading time. However, I can tell you that it only took that long the first time.

Once in I encountered lag, freezing as you go through doors, and other bugs. In truth I could have done what many of the other reviewers chose to do, log off, delete the game and move on.

Real player with 365.4 hrs in game

DreamScapes Dimensions is not a strikingly beautiful game with the best graphics.

It is not a game with the best optimization and it is not a game with thousands of quests or a game world so big that you can spend hours walking from one side to the other.

And it doesn’t have to be all that. Because it is full of passion.

The game utilizes a DND style dice roll fighting system, in-depth resource mining and crafting, player building and housing, as well as procedurally generated dungeons and raids which add a nice rouge-like feel to it.

Guild Wars® Trilogy

Guild Wars® Trilogy

Basically my entire childhood.

The game’s pretty much dead now though, unfortunately, and everyone’s gone over to GW2.

I got into Guild Wars through my friend (who has 1910.7 hours) when I was around ten years old. I was intrigued by the lore and always watched my friend play it while I was over at his house. Times were much simpler.

RIP childhood, you will always be missed.

(Unrelated, but an ant somehow got INSIDE of my LCD monitor while typing this. It’s on a different 2D plane as my actual screen, somewhat like a parallax effect. This is bothering me.)

One of the greatest original MMOs in my opinion. Competing with EQ and WoW when it originally was released. Though it’s nowhere near the content of WoW or other newer MMOs, it is still a great play, finding myself playing it every once in a while.

The game is primarily PvP based. Monetized tournaments and PvP based guilds are abundant and ArenaNet, in my opinion, really understood what players were looking for in PvP, and even more so in Guild Wars 2. No longer is gear a factor in PvP.

Even the storyline was rather fun to play and follow. If you enjoy game lore then you will sure get a lot of lore out of Guild Wars. Small in-game content and books cover most of the lore of the Guild Wars universe.
