Hanako: Honor & Blade

Hanako: Honor & Blade

I’m going to comment solely on the feel of combat since IMO that’s the most ‘make or break’ factor in a PvP game. As of writing this review the game offers 4 classes, 3 melee and 1 ranged.

The ranged character uses a bow and its pretty typical of what you would expect from such a class. Mechanics like projectile drop and needing to lead on a moving target respect the physics of shooting an arrow but they’re not overly difficult as to become aggravating. You can play back and aim your shots or you can get close and spam arrows, its a good mix of skill & spray-n-pray.

First off, the Devs have worked really hard to get this game to where it is now and it shows. When I had my first few games I had expected broken mechanics or obvious inbalance of the classes. However I was pleasantly surprised that they have a very strong foundation in place.

All 3 classes play differently with their own unique style to learn and bring out the fantasy that they are known for. Easy to pick up and learn but also some depth for those who want to truly master their classes mechanics.

I gotta say, I really like this game. You control one of three characters (warrior, berserker and mage, although you have to complete the first boss to unlock the berserker and the second and third to unlock the mage), each with different mechanics,

stats and upgrades. Using just the mouse you can maneuver your hero and perform an attack, which costs mana, to kill enemies that keep spawning. The enemy diversity is good, each one with different attack types and harder enemies appear as you progress through the story.

This is a very disappointing game, can’t say it’s THAT bad, you decide:

+The one and only plus - battle mechanics - 1st time I’ve seen it in indiegala minigame made by the same person I guess, and what can I say - there it was WAY better - to move around you click left MB, to dash and kill you click right MB - now about the problems of the game

-You can’t dash while moving - you have to release LMB if you want to click RMB - like, what’s the problem? When a lot of enemies around you even the slight stop can kill you.

NARAKA: BLADEPOINT

Holy sht this game is fun. During a clash, You breath, you lose. Each weapon and each hero have counters either trough positioning/witty timings/picking or utilizing other weapons.

Do not believe to what people say that X is broken/OP. Everything have a workaround specially if your’e skilled on wits and proper positioning. You panic, you lose. Do not panic. I cant count how many times i managed to turn the tables on a fight and it felt so satisfying.

Pros:

1. Unlimited combo possibilities to the point you get your own combo personality

great game.

i would prefer if everyone would deal a bit less damage to make the fights last longer…

Espacially a few weapons. But the new duo mode feels way better than trios. You can fight 2 people but 3 was just to hard in my opinion.

I played the game for over 200h now and i don’t understand why people say the queue times are long. A few seconds up to a few minutes if it’s early in the morning or late at night.

And why are people complaining about asian players in the reviews? It’s literary almost the same as playing agains people from EU or NA.

I bought this game for a dollar, and I still question if it was worth that. It’s like, barely functional, and I didn’t get very far before it’s brokenness made it ridiculously hard. Maybe get this on a 90 off sale if you’re curious, maybe.

Xuan-Yuan Sword VII

Xuan-Yuan Sword VII

I don’t recommend this game.

I actually pre-ordered this, as I’m a huge fan of the old Xuan Yuan Jian Series; I enjoyed Gates of Firmament even though the combat was very bad, the story made up for it. I played this game in Chinese (audio/subtitles, which don’t have a text skip option so you have to wait for audio tracks to finish playing or skip the entire cutscene).

In-Depth Explanation:

XYS series has always been well-respected for it’s plot development, the gameplay has been on and off (with the migration to 3D gameplay basically killing all elements of FUN because this studio seems to not really have the skill to manage 3D development). So let’s start with the plot, your character starts off as a caretaker of his sister, the advancement of the story is closely linked to this situation, thus the entire game can be summed up as “hero tries to save the sister”. This is the entire plot of the game. There is no over-arching goal to defeat evil, save the world, learn about other cultures, visit other countries (which was common in other XYS games), this game is just “save the sister”. This plot is delivered through a strict on-rails story advancement.

The franchise of Xuan Yuan Sword has a long history, its ever-lasting life could go back to 90s, if Final Fantasy is well known from Japan, then Xuan Yuan Sword is that well known from China. It’s its 30 years anniversary now, with Chinese Paladin: Sword and Fairy franchise also from Domo studio, the shiny two famous titles were widely recognized within the RPG genre in Chinese gaming community. As folks say, “the Two Great blades are the guardians of Domo.”

XYS VII is the 13th instrument of Xuan Yuan Sword games. It also brings some big changes along its release, e.g the first time in the entire franchise being an ARPG game with open world(previous titles are turn-based on). Although there are 12 titles before this one, you don’t need to play its ancestors to understand the story. Though all Xuan Yuan Sword games are based on Chinese dynasties history and mythology, but each one’s story happens in a different time, there aren’t any close connections between each other, only sharing the same universe as a whole.

Redeemer: Enhanced Edition

Redeemer: Enhanced Edition

A really good punch-through-them-all type of game. Brutal, bloody and very straight in what it does. The story motivation is quite basic: some high-tech mercs burned your village and you have to bring that fire back to their base, right on your fists. It’s not a really thorough story, and the English version of texts ain’t exactly Shakespeare (neither does original Russian text or any other language in that game). But surely it’s not about “story” that people actually buy those games for, it’s about gameplay. And with that Redeemer is pretty. Especially for the given price. Well, maybe “pretty” ain’t a proper word, as this is all about throwing punches and kicks, bashing and squashing your enemies heads and blasting some stuff on the way…

Enter the Дракон

Redeemer is an old-school action title from a Russian developer Sobaka Studio. The player embodies persona of Vasyli - an ex-mercenary, turned a Tibetan monk on a quest for inner peace. Vasyli’s attempts at achieving equilibrium will be cut short, as the game opens with monastery getting invaded by a military force. After roughly 20 second-long hesitation Vasyli returns to his old ways. Now there will be blood, guns and very outward bouts of violence up for the player to deliver. What could possibly be a better way to apprehend a man capable of ripping somebody’s head off with his bare hands? Send in waves of poorly armed grunts, expecting them to beat their quarry into submission, because of course it is.

Sword of Hypotenuse

Sword of Hypotenuse

The bloody truth of the Pythagorean Theorem lies along the Sword of Hypotenuse. Become a squishy tofu ninja and battle your way through the broken Number Line.

Walk, run, skip, dodge, jump, flip, and dive head first into this isometric 3D (+2.5D?) world filled with weapons - and a bunch of squishy Pythagoreans that want to stop you!.. from stopping them. Its umm, ok let’s back up.

So, the Pythagoreans want to reconnect the Number Line, but they’re sorta interpreting information they stole - so you know - kinda sketchy - its a whole thing, you’ll see. Talk to some of the characters, it’ll make sense. No math pop quizes, but you will need to think! There’s some different worlds and different permutations depending on how you break stuff, then reconnect it, then brake it again if you need to.

Find the rare missing Alogon pages from the Sacred Book of Math - err, not the count-y add-y stuff - the fun stuff! Traditional 2D pencil-test animations that help you interpret the story… depending on the interpretation of course!

In addition to the Story Mode you can also just battle your fellow humans in Battle Mode, or have them pop in to help you fight - maybe even as a squishy tofu shield! There’s also a Classic Mode where you battle waves of increasingly difficult enemies - stop talking and ship the game? OK, got it!

So, hope you enjoy it! Good luck fixing the broken Number Line Pythagoras broke. May your booleans always be true!
