Idol Manager

Idol Manager

I put 88 hours into this game. The most standout part of it was the writing really had no business being as good as it was in this game, that is pretty clearly low budget and lacks some polish. I think if they would have kept fixing some of the bugs and polishing it for a month or two more before releasing, it could have easily been so much better and they could have charged twice as much. Also, having the 18+ version as DLC. I used the decensor patch (which turns it into more of an ecchi game, nothing hardcore), and while it didn’t make the game any better at the core, it did add a certain level of spice to elevate the experience.

This is the kinda game that I stayed up til 5am playing multiple times and when I finally reached the story mode ending early this morning I immediately asked my roommate “hey what do I do with my life now.” (Obviously the answer is to get the remaining endings and achievements but like. first playthrough is done there’s no going back to it.)

The story was a lot more interesting than I was expecting, but even without it the business sim part holds up imo. It’s really easy to get attached to the idols, and it’s fun and satisfying to help them earn fame and awards and such. Definitely don’t do what I did and buy this the week before two big projects are due though. For the sake of my grades I have to leave it alone for a while lmfao.

Airport Simulator 2014

Not worth it. Airport sims are the rare breed, but even with this, there are some more, with so much more content on board.

For one, this game wasn’t working out of the box. I had to do tweaking to start it, which is unbearable in the case of the game made not so long ago.

Next, it is not really a full airport sim. The procedure goes like this: some plane is boarding, and then you have to drive manually various service cars to this plane. With the speed of a snail. If you’ll manage to drive the cars to the plane on time (it’s like 2-3 minutes for a distance like half of a kilometer, for each car), you’ll get some money. When you’ll have enough money, you can buy an “upgrade” to your cars. I thought they’ll start to run smoother, run faster… no. They just finally hiring some drivers on those upgrade money, so, once you’ve upgraded all your vehicles, you can just relax and watch the work as spectacular. And… that’s the game! You can’t build anything, can’t buy anything, you just drive many cars in the hope to gather enough to not driving it anymore. Nice, isn’t it?

This is a frustratingly uneven game. It starts off painstakingly slow: An aircraft comes in and you, apparently being the only person at the airport with a driver’s license, have to drive various vehicles to and from the plane: a passenger bus, a rolling staircase, a fuel truck, two types of cleaning trucks, a luggage trolley, etc. It’s very tedious, but eventually multiple planes start arriving and you have to juggle various tasks among them. The plane at gate 5 is fueling now, the plane at gate 6 wants fuel next. A plane that just landed is waiting for a parking spot and you’re trying to push back a plane at gate 3 to make room for it. At this point the game isn’t exactly fun, but it’s at least involving. Get those tasks done to get the planes off the ground!

80 hours into the game. I do have some buyers remorse. After 80 hours it becomes very apparent that the game’s mechanics need redone.

An example of this is by decorating, unlocking, and gathering recipes for Townsfolk or Nobles you make equal or less than you do catering to the distressed, outlaws, travelers. The favor mechanic is another mechanic that needs help. If you have 3 factions unlocked the game will balance all three even if you cater to only 1. Thus you can never raise your favor with 1 group any higher than the average of all the groups unlocked. With 3 unlocked you get 33% for each, with 4 25% with 5 20%.

Still Too Many Bugs - February 2021

I originally wrote this review in May 2020. In February 2021, I thought I’d revisit the game and put in another 20 or so hours on a new Inn in sandbox mode. At first all went well, and I was pleased to see that some of the worst bugs have been sorted. Characters no longer get stuck (well, not that often at any rate, and now you can move them manually).

However, and this I think is particularly damning, although they have resolved some existing bugs, new content has simply introduced new bugs. Bathing is bugged to hell, with characters locking up changing screens and creating a queue of naked customers wanting to use the same changing screen. Although people seem to be pretty good at not getting stuck in walls, my cats got stuck all the time. I had a crowd full of people cheering on a boxing match when no one was actually fighting, and the only person in the ring was an occasional servant come to do a bit of sweeping.

This game saved my life.

I am 34.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand… my working hand… my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. the hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide.

While those expecting another HuniePop were pissed by the lack of porn and dialogue, I feel like the developpers warned us about this a long time ago during development: the only thing in common would be the characters and the sexual theme. Nobody would complain about Mario Kart not being a platformer - it’s just a Mario-themed kart game. Well this is just a HuniePop-themed management game. And a good one too.

The biggest flaw with the game is that it plays a bit like a game of Risk or Settlers; sometimes you go for a bad strategy and quit halfway through because you know you’re loosing, sometimes the end is anticlimactic. Your first few games might not feel very rewarding as you try to work out a reliable strategy.

I am extremely glad I paid next to nothing for this ‘game’ if you are so inclined to call it one. I will give you a rundown of ‘the game’. you own one club at the start. starting off it doesn’t seem bad you run around like any manager would that is trying to make money and make your customers happy. any event that comes up on the floor is one of two options for you more xp/reputation or more money. you gain money by the second. it says you gain reputation by the second, but I don’t really see that happening. You can level up by reputation I didn’t ever seem to find a cap on that. You just stop unlocking things to earn other than it gives you a money bonus.

Real player with 47.5 hrs in game

I bought this game despite the negative reviews because I was looking for something new and also why I bought it on sale. While I didn’t mind the design itself, I was perfectly fine with the way you could upgrade the club as it was good to see the club layout change as you bought the upgrades.

However, the biggest problem with the game is the lagging that starts to happen after you reach a new level (or reputation as the game calls it) as well as said announcement card being as slow as molasses during its presentation. Pretty much the only way to fix it is to go back to the main menu and then go back into the game until next level up; rinse and repeat. Had it not been for this annoyance; it would have been an enjoyable game.

I’m not bashing the developers, but I’m giving a negative review for now unless some major changes are made. This game has potential, it is cute, it’s fun for the first hour or so, and the developer does at least have great artists - but if it is kept the way that it is, even once all the planned girls are added I wouldn’t be able to recommend it.

There’s a lot of basic mechanics here for this to become a good Fallout Shelter type game - become is the key word. It is nowhere near that point yet. I actually hope the developer focuses more on the actual gameplay for now and not the h-scene content. The minigames and backstories for the characters are honestly boring and either need completely revamped, or they need to go. The H-scenes are boring and the dialogue is cringey. The voice acting is terrible. The artwork is good at least.

Internet Cafe Simulator

Internet Cafe Simulator

It was fun and addictive however you reach the endgame pretty quickly. It’s a cool idea in practice but it really doesn’t translate well into a game. There isn’t really any replayability other than to adapt to the many bugs that this game bears, strategically moving and placing your setups, arcade machines and bitcoin miners based on the mechanics of the game in the way the automated customers move to offer yourself a smoother experience. Once you’ve got it down running pretty smoothly with only a couple of annoyances (such as desks being broken/moved after you quit and restart the game, customers being stuck on the stairs/walls/arcade machines, rubbish you can’t get to without moving things) and you’ve used your 200 iq brain to spam buy as many bitcoin miners from the dodgy dealer as you can (buy loads then use sales gun, go back and cancel all the sales.. Watch the miners pile up neatly outside.) then what’s left to do? other than stack up bitcoins, use excess money to buy more when the price is low and then just wait for that big payday? even if there was more to do - the core mechanics would need a lot of work. I’m not sure it’s really worth it. I would only recommend this game if it was free. I had fun playing it, but it wasn’t worth the money.

Played 7 hours. The idea is pretty great, i personally like to setup the whole cafe, buy tech stuff for customers and setup everything.

But :

  • There are glitches (Can’t post poster on some wall for example, tp back when using computer,…)

  • Sometime when you spawn after loading your game, the props that you already placed somehow clip in the wall and stuff so it messed up the PC table for example

  • The NPC very often stuck to the wall/push away props/drop mouse, keyboard, pc stuff so they say that WE forced them to get out (lol?)

This is half a decade old game that just get ported & translated to Steam, so the reviews here aren’t good because it’s kinda disappointing game for this era’s expectation. But back then It was pretty decent (4.5 star rating on DLsite).

You are Adventurer’s Inn manager trying to mindbreak the female adventurers. The more famous your inn is, the more chance good female adventurers will come to stay. Gather materials to decorate your inn and provide good food & drinks to make people stay and drug them. Slowly break them to make them work for you.

This game has fantastic potential, and is growing constantly. I am freinds with the developer, full disclosure :), but I know his plans for this game, and I am super excited to see it get bigger and bigger. Already it is a ton of fun, and really charming to play, and each update is pushing both fixes and new and improved content and gameplay :)

Very fun! Really like managing the dwarves. They are kinda cute.

Management games are always hard to get at first for me.

But this one is well organized with good tutorial.

I can learn how to manage the game step by step!

But the sound really surprised me at first and annoyed me until now.

I like playing it with the sound off.

Also, there’s a little bug.

Sometimes the dwarves don’t work as I told them. And I cannot play anymore.

Max Gentlemen Sexy Business!

Max Gentlemen Sexy Business!

TL: DR version - bought the game to support the youtube/streamer Jesse Cox for his first produced game, ended up playing it like crazy for the business management part of the game and eventually 100%-ing it.

And now, as it is customary for my reviews, the good and the bad.

The GOOD:

1. Extremely engaging gameplay - unless you are playing the game absolutely casually, you will really need to think on your feet and do all the necessary calculations in your head in advance if you want to min-max properly.

I went into this game completely blind. I have not played the previous game in this series by the ominously titled developers The Men Who Wear Many Hats. After playing Max Gentleman: Sexy Business, I might have to go check out the original Max Gentleman game. It is free. What do I have to lose? Regardless, I have a lot of time invested in this game and learning its systems, so I feel that I can provide an honest opinion about this game.

Max Gentleman: Sexy Business is an idle/strategy game with elements of visual novels and dating simulators. The game starts with you creating your own “gentsona” which you will use to take back back your stolen family riches by forming a business, fighting against rival business, improving your executives, and paying off loans in order to defeat the vile and slimy Cashious Villionaire. The plot to the game is easy to follow and there is plenty of comical dialogue to read that helps to pull you into the world and characters. At the same time, reading the dialogue is not essential to playing and beating the game, so dialogue can be skipped for the least astute. However, I recommend that you do not skip the dialogue because it is cleverly written, hilarious, and… surprisingly steamy. The game is called SEXY Business after all. Along with managing your executives and running a business suitable for crushing your rivals, you also will be given opportunities to go on dates with executives to get to know them better and to unlock outfits for them, ranging from comical cosplay to complete full-frontal nudity. Moving forward, this review will be divided into two sections; SEXY and BUSINESS.
