Sacrifice Your Friends

Sacrifice Your Friends

Basically, this is the mechanics of overcooked mixed with the gameplay ideas of Gang Beasts. It super fun to dash around use and throw the weapons, some weapons are a little more useful than others, but they are all counterable. It controls well. A bunch of cool little stuff to unlock, like hats and characters, a bunch of different powerful gods to play, all with different gameplay styles. A whole bunch of beautifully designed maps/artwork, and a whole bunch of other stuff to explore. A great and simple versus game that is definitely worth picking up.

This is an amazingly fun item-arena brawler. The closest games I would compare it to are the Bomberman series and Killer Queen Black.

Your character avatar has no impact on your move set, which consists of punching, grabbing/activating an item, and throwing an item. Your associated Ancient One cult (Cthulhu, Dagon, and Nyarlathotep right now) does have a slightly altered move set, which are fitting for the time-limited avatar transformations (similar to a Smash Bros. Smash Ball). The game moves at such a frantic, hilariously fast and fun pace that it doesn’t need more than this.

“Project Whateley”

The game comes out as a Lovecraftian horror game with stealth and platforming game.

It is in early developlent stages but It has huge potential to evolve into an amazing game. It has a noir taste all around but with Lovecraftian touches

Developers seem to care for the opinion of the players too so it feels like we could have a great Lovecraftian game if they managed to pull it .

For Early Access this game is the worst ive played so far, you dont really know the plot, theres no thought behind it. The game dont tell you what controls are, and you really dont know where to go.

Hamilton’s Great Adventure

Hamilton’s Great Adventure

This game is an absolute nightmare to play. (Providing you get it to work).

I consider myself a very technically able person, however this took me 2 hours to get it working, after messing around with various settings and uninstalling the outdated junk that came with this. (I never managed to get the sound working, which was OK for me, I viewed a few video’s and the sound was far too repetative).

I love puzzles games and I’ve played a wide variety of them.

However this game is just boring, repetative and the timing sections for this game are a nightmare.

Hamilton’s Great Adventure is a very good puzzle/adventure game, in which you have to find the right path in order to reach the exit of each level. It might look simple at first, but as the game progresses, the complexity increases, with new enemies, traps, and more complex layouts. Getting all the coins, while being an optional challenge, is well worth it to put your skills to the test.

As I mentioned in the opening paragraph, the gameplay consists on finding the path to the exit. Of course, you must first get the key (or keys) needed to open the exit door (and other doors which might be in your way). You play as Hamilton (the explorer) and Sasha (the bird). While Hamilton must grab the keys and reach the exit, Sasha can help you by distracting enemies, or using certain switches in order to open some doors or activate elevators. As you progress through each chapter, you’ll also get special items that Hamilton can use. The level design is very good; while the earlier levels are easy enough for you to learn the game, the latter levels can become very challenging, especially if you’re trying to get gold on them; not to mention the bonus levels available in each chapter.

Doorways: Holy Mountains of Flesh

Doorways: Holy Mountains of Flesh

I rather enjoyed this horror/puzzle game.

When I started playing, only the first third of the game had been released. I made it a point to play both Doorways: Prelude and Underworld prior to starting Holy Mountains of Flesh. I enjoyed those as well, but Holy Mountains of Flesh is by far superior to the first two titles. I was also happy to find the developers were friendly and responsive, unlike so many other Early Access titles.

First, I’d like to get a couple of problems out of the way. The game does have it’s quirks, though none of its issues are enough to discredit the game as a whole.

Doorways Prelude was absolutely wondeful back in 2013 - it was very much the pace setter for a great number of indie horror titles which followed, and was steeped in originality and genuinely chilling content. For a low-budget horror game, it was basically flawless.

Its sequel, Underworld, threw away every ounce of ingenuity and decided to copy all the other horror games - we had a bunch of Slenderman-esque chaser sequences and that nightmare ‘maze’ which might go down as some of the worst game design I’ve ever suffered.

Doorways: Old Prototype

Doorways: Old Prototype

I just stumbled upon and finished this free demo-like-game of Doorways: Old Prototype for about 35 minutes. Not quite surprised, I wasn’t expecting any back story or deep explanation of gaming mechanics inside this game. There are some documents in game that explain the chronological background story about the making of Doorways games and its developer members, and also about the connection between the stages in this demo-like game and full game. It is a prototype, anyways.

Playing this particular game feels like playing 3D platforming, with linear pathways, simple puzzles, eazy predictable bosses, and enhanced quake3-like graphics (thus it’s very light game). No replay value whatsoever, probably just meant to tease players to try the full series of Doorways. But hey, it’s small, quite fun, and free. :3

What a great way to show the evolution of a game.

They took the original prototype for the game, and mixed in a behind the scenes look at how the game(s) came about.

Your goal is to find pages throughout the game by avoiding obstacles, and making your way from one level, to the other without dying.

A first person platformer with quite impressive graphics, and audio, especially for a prototype game.

Having said that, this is a prototype, so some areas may feel less impressive than others, where graphics are concerned, but it does not take anything away from the gameplay, which is quite solid.

Anemoiapolis: Chapter 1

Anemoiapolis: Chapter 1

ENCOUNTER

You have fallen into a surreal and haunted underground neighborhood. Discover its origins and escape with your life - and sanity - intact.

OBSERVE

Remember that hallway you found at your workplace or school? The one you didn’t realize was there before. Nobody ever goes there, it has no windows, and it seemingly has no purpose. The lights might be on, the floor is usually clean, but it exists for nobody.

This transitional place is the lifeblood of Anemoiapolis: a world with no sunlight and no humanity, buzzing with fluorescent apathy. It does not care about you, yet it watches intently.

SURVIVE

Experience the dungeon-like malls, pools, hallways, and basements of Anemoiapolis in first person. Utilize platforming and puzzle solving to navigate the barren commercial catacombs. If you start to feel complacent, you might not be ready for what’s around the corner.

ABOUT

Anemoiapolis reflects the experiences of a developer who grew up among empty buildings in Midwest USA, and who is currently processing our world of empty buildings brought on by COVID-19.

Expect critiques on mindless consumerism, feelings of impending doom, and eerie “mallcore” aesthetics.
