Roboquest

Roboquest

UPDATE 29-01-2021:

I feel like updating my review periodically (2-3 months), because the game probably has one of the most involved (and social) communities that I’ve ever been in. And I absolutely love it.

Let’s start with stating the obvious: The game has some REAL potential. This is created by the insanely fine DOOM-esque gun-play, together with the great movement, even mid-air.

Refined with the perk system, it really doesn’t matter if you want to go insanely fast and guns blazing, or take it slow and methodically. Weapon affixes contribute to this as well, making it viable to sit back with snipers and not getting any of “dem sweet cellz” (XP) go to waste. (Snipers work a good deal in close quarters as well, because of nearly perfect hipfire accuracy!)

If you don’t like reading long reviews, I’ll start you off with a TL;DR

The game plays amazing, feels amazing, sounds amazing and is developed by down to earth developers who only want to share the love for games.

… oh you got past my TL;DR? Amazing. Now let me elaborate.

First off, at the time of the review I have about 9 hours played recorded on steam - and a few more offline due to internet outages.

I have played the game in it’s alpha stage (mid-July) and will continue playing it as it develops (and if I don’t forget, update my review at some point). Make of that what you will.

Alien Shooter 2 - The Legend

Alien Shooter 2 - The Legend

I’ve been playing Sigma Team’s games for years, and I really like Alien Shooter 2 - The Legend. As someone who has played through AS2 - Reloaded and ZS2 a bunch of times, there is a LOT that I like in this game that expands on the previous titles in interesting but not too overly complicated ways. But there ARE issues with this game that will hopefully be patched in future updates.

I may make a longer post about pros and cons somewhere in the discussions. But for now, I’m going to share only the most enjoyable pros and annoying cons I’ve experienced in my current play through (not as much of a review for new players as more of a feedback report for the developers and any other players familiar with their games).

With update 1.3 the developers finally addressed a major point of criticism: They made the repetitive filler missions optional (destroy X teleporters, kill X aliens, hold position for X minutes, collect X ammo, food, metal, bones, artifacts). Now you can skip them and only do the real campaign missions. This has reduced the amount of mandatory missions to about 70 from a 150 total. This change was very welcome.

At this point I considered a thumbs up, but there’s one thing holding me back: they added an artificial weapon recoil, which makes your crosshair move upwards every single shot. And it only moves up, up, up, and never back. This constantly forces you to reposition your mouse, even when targeting static spots, makes you miss monsters, and shoot walls instead of the actual target. It’s absolutely annoying. This feature has to be removed.

Ill start with… this game needs work. I don’t bash any developers for making games as i know it takes alot of time and effort. Just going to leave an honest review.

Within a span of 40 or so minutes logged on this game, the menu and inventory interfaces work maybe half the time. Not being able to navigate or do anything at all on them. There is no guidance or map to show you or tell you were to go to start missions or what everything is inside the castle (FOB). The ADS system in the game is… horrid. The weapon reticle does not appear 9/10 times, so you are quite literally blind firing majority of the time wasting ammo that you barely have. The motion upon aiming is very laggy to say the least, just very difficult to manage. EVERY single enemy gives you bleed damage so you are suffering a very high amount of tick damage and the only way to remedy this is with a bandage or you die rather quickly. So enemies dont have a chance to proc bleed damage they just give it to you outright every single time. The enemies…. the little brown flea, tick, horseshoe crab, or trilobite, no matter how far away that little ankle biting piece of **** is… you get hit no matter what if you shoot it. My first run through i ran out of everything i had… and all i heard was a beeping noise. Im walking and walking then all of a sudden i get blown up by an invisible IED in the ground… in a concrete floor area inside of a meth house… needless to say i almost went deaf and nearly knocked all my **** off my desk because i was so surprised and pissed all at the same time. Every run after that i just bled to death like it was a very hellacious menstrual cycle. Over all in my opinion the state it is in now it is unplayable to me unfortunately.

TL;DR: PvP is terrible and allows no-lifers to prevent other players from ever acquiring gear to compete with them in Dark Zone fights.

The Review:

Let me preface this by saying I have played since first Beta. I also played the second Beta and have also played since launch. So I can give a bit more insight than some. With that, let’s get fucked.

PROS

  • Huge, well detailed city

  • Cool Concept

  • Good Customization for Character Outfit

  • First 20-30 hours are amazing

Introduction:

I haven’t played a lot of third person shooters but this game seemed to offer an unique post apocalyptic themed open world setting along with a focus on co op content which was something I was looking for.

Therefore compared to any of the not so recent Tom Clancy games I remember playing I had some more expectations from this modern title not like I didn’t enjoy the stealth based mechanics of the previous games but this is more of a cover and shoot based game here. Lets proceed!

Big maps filled with a horde of enemies, Millions of gun combinations and dark humor all fit into one large barrel o' fun.

I have gotten my hands on this game way back in 2012 and back then, i didn’t know what i was doing at all, but after a long break without playing the game, to then buy it back on Steam, i don’t regret getting back into it at all.

This game has it all if you’re looking for a loot-and-shoot game. There’s weapons ranging from simple repeater pistols, to rocket launchers and alien weaponry (Eridian weapons may be a little disappointing). They can shoot flames, shock or acid too! On top of that, there’s a bunch of different shield types, grenade mods and class mods, which, along with each character’s skill trees, allow for dozens of different character builds. For a game from 2009, this game looks very good for it’s time in terms of graphics. If your computer isn’t that great, you can always optimize it further than normal. If you plan to buy this, your best bet is getting the GOTY “Enhanced” version. The “Enhanced” edition brings new features, but also new bugs, like memory leaks. However, it’s more ideal if you will only play through the game once or twice.

FPSs aren’t really my thing and I hadn’t played an FPS for maybe 10 years when I accepted trying this out because of a friend’s insistence and my honest intention was to tell my friend “it’s fine but you know, not my thing”, so that I would’ve complied with his request and lose like half an hour playing an FPS. That’s how biased I was against playing Borderlands when I started.

But boy was I in for a ride. The cut-throat atmosphere, dark humour and especially the loot system right away from the get go got me interested. I kept playing and realized I wasn’t that bad of a shot, it was freakishly fun, the skill system and the player characters you get to choose are super cool and the game in general is well super-badass-cool. A wasteland world full of drug pumped bandits, mutated vicious animals and the best part is, well, you’re no better, you’re a cut-throat mercenary in search of legendary lost alien riches and technologies. The friendly NPCs or “good guys” you get to meet during your travels are also shady characters fitting the premise incredibly well.

Absolute trash, as you’d expect from your typical lazy 12 year old kid who got the almighty GameGuru software for his birthday! And if this trash was actually made by an adult, then that adult needs to be locked up for trying to SCAM Steam users for $17 USD. Unreal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1nnlTt3-5U

Another GameGuru trash game clogging up Steam, and another M.I.S.S. video on you channel. ..Some things never change.

NOT RECOMMENDED. This game isn’t even worth a quarter, much less $16.99 USD. Absurd.

Game Guru continues to be the worst development program.

This game is notable in that it has NPCs.

The enemies shoot through walls and the ever present heartbeat of game guru continues to be annoying as hell.

Definitely avoid this.
