Borderlands Game of the Year

Borderlands Game of the Year

Big maps filled with a horde of enemies, Millions of gun combinations and dark humor all fit into one large barrel o' fun.

I have gotten my hands on this game way back in 2012 and back then, i didn’t know what i was doing at all, but after a long break without playing the game, to then buy it back on Steam, i don’t regret getting back into it at all.

This game has it all if you’re looking for a loot-and-shoot game. There’s weapons ranging from simple repeater pistols, to rocket launchers and alien weaponry (Eridian weapons may be a little disappointing). They can shoot flames, shock or acid too! On top of that, there’s a bunch of different shield types, grenade mods and class mods, which, along with each character’s skill trees, allow for dozens of different character builds. For a game from 2009, this game looks very good for it’s time in terms of graphics. If your computer isn’t that great, you can always optimize it further than normal. If you plan to buy this, your best bet is getting the GOTY “Enhanced” version. The “Enhanced” edition brings new features, but also new bugs, like memory leaks. However, it’s more ideal if you will only play through the game once or twice.

FPSs aren’t really my thing and I hadn’t played an FPS for maybe 10 years when I accepted trying this out because of a friend’s insistence and my honest intention was to tell my friend “it’s fine but you know, not my thing”, so that I would’ve complied with his request and lose like half an hour playing an FPS. That’s how biased I was against playing Borderlands when I started.

But boy was I in for a ride. The cut-throat atmosphere, dark humour and especially the loot system right away from the get go got me interested. I kept playing and realized I wasn’t that bad of a shot, it was freakishly fun, the skill system and the player characters you get to choose are super cool and the game in general is well super-badass-cool. A wasteland world full of drug pumped bandits, mutated vicious animals and the best part is, well, you’re no better, you’re a cut-throat mercenary in search of legendary lost alien riches and technologies. The friendly NPCs or “good guys” you get to meet during your travels are also shady characters fitting the premise incredibly well.

Chromatic Labyrinth

Chromatic Labyrinth

Chromatic Labyrinth is a FPS rogue like masterpiece. so simple but so god damn effective at a full 23 minutes of fun (in my case) even though this game is infinite and has hours of fun to offer i do not think that i will play this any longer due to the fact that my next door neighbours children begun crying. But JMoney, Why were your neighbours children crying? i hear you ask, well I’m glad you did. The reason they started crying is because god damn is this game loud and it has no audio setting whatsoever which is a shame as i quite liked my neighbours, not you Sharron. But JMoney, why don’t you like your neighbour Sharron? I hear you ask, well why don’t u ask her, the two faced rascal. anyway, your probably hear to find out about the game chromatic labyrinth so ill give you my honest opinion. The game is fun, I won’t lie, but not as fun as the BBQ i hosted for my neighbours and Sharron the ugly mess of a cow decided it ruin with her fat dog eating all of the sausages.

Misplaced

Misplaced

First-person monster survival game with kind of addictive gameplay where you try to reach a higher wave every time.

You find weapons on the map and can upgrade them by either fusing already found ones or after each round in the store with the cash you earned by killing the monsters.

Currently there are 10 upgradable weapons (including the grenade) and 2 maps to choose from.

It runs well on my PC, im running the RTX 2080 and i7 9700k with 32GB of ram.

Misplaced is a fun and balanced FPS survival game that I enjoy very much. You fight endless waves of enemies, and you can to explore the map to find new weapons and ammo while trying to survive. There are very many weapons to choose from, and you can also upgrade your weapons in the shop or find upgrades in the map! It’s very satisfying and addictive to run around and loot weapon upgrades, armor plates and max HP upgrades while killing the enemies that just keep getting stronger and increase in number with each wave. You also have the option to run around and loot between the waves in 60 seconds of peace, or run to the shop to spend your well earned money for upgrades and ammo. There are also a wide variety of enemies, and the enemies can spawn with a different color from time to time, meaning that the enemy is upgraded with more health, speed, or damage output. If you like FPS survival games, I strongly recommend this game!

Stack Gun Heroes

Stack Gun Heroes

Stack Gun Heroes combines fast paced combat with addicting base building. Invent your own gun and take it on challenging missions to earn valuable resources. You process the loot back home in a factory of your own design.

Gun Building

The Stack Gun can be customized however you want. Will you make a gun that shoots sentry drones that chase and shoot enemies? A gun that abducts people into the upper stratosphere? Or maybe a gun that shoots yourself at the enemy, killing them with the impact damage.

These aren’t pre-made classes. Players invent their own strategies. Chances are you will come up with a playstyle the developer has never thought of.

Factories

Your base is a giant factory that you build with the Stack Gun. You will use it to process loot into items that make you more powerful. There are tons of base machines to build, you can unlock tech infinitely, and the factory has no maximum size.

Features

  • Make any gun. Want a gun that cuts off limbs? A gun that shoots guns at people? A gun that makes you fly? Why not all 3 in one? Combine any gun parts for whatever effects you want.

  • Get so much loot you need to design a factory to process it all. No boring menus, you interact with your machines by doing sick wall-jumps and wall-slides on them. Efficient production is radical!

  • Try out BILLIONS of procedural superpowers. Can you find a use for that power that teleports all nearby bullets wherever you point?

  • You can bring as many friends as you want into online co-op to beat very challenging maps, assuming you aren’t an incredible badass who has no friends.

  • Infinite endgame lets you advance in power forever. Start with “normal” FPS guns and before long you’ll be accidentally killing yourself with nukes 10x the size of the map and running into walls at supersponic speeds.

  • Test your most irritating guns on your friends in deathmatch. They can’t be mad. It’s for science!

  • Run through enemies, wall-slide down skyscrapers, dismember robots, collect superpowers, launch people into space. Every time there was a cool idea, it went in the game.

After 9 years and over 16,000 hours working on this project it’s almost ready. Stack Gun Heroes is my dream game. Hopefully it’s yours too!
