Never Return

Never Return

the basis of behind the scene should be explained first.

it’s almost like im playing one of those old school dungeon crawler games but with more possibilities due to the higher possibilities of the unity engine. i’ve been enjoying the game even though it’s early access. something about the early access tag that many people might not understand is that unlike almost all the early access titles that have existed, the devs of this game have NO intention of staying early access forever. the roadmap is on the store page and the team clearly are trying their best to stay on the time frames despite the small size. pulling overnight shifts and extra days to deliver.

Never Return

Never Return is a brand spanking new 3D, action-adventure, dungeon-crawler with Roguelite elements. The Steam store page says it’s a Roguelite experience, but Nah, I would say it’s more of a Roguelite+ experience.

Every time you die, you can revive yourself with in-game soul currency as many times as you want until your pocket runs dry.

## Hyperspace Dogfights

Updated Review:

Excellent game, 269 hours of playtime (with still more stuff to unlock and do; I only have 98% completion, with a new major update on the way (No Masters, that is)!), excellent potential for challenge runs, and, in my opinion, overall a nigh-flawless example of roguelikes.

By the way, here's one tip that's very helpful: If you're being tracked by a homing missile, a square crosshair will follow you. If you jump while that crosshair is on an enemy, you'll shift the missile lock to that enemy, thus causing it to seek out that enemy instead of you. Using that trick, you can avoid always needing the Flares active to shrug off missiles (For.. maybe 12 hours or so? I didn't know that, and so I couldn't drop Flares without dying, or play any other jet, and I'd frequently die because Flares ran out of charges. Then I saw a loading screen tip.)

--- ### GENERAL OVERVIEW **Hyperspace Dogfights** is a side scroller shooter set in an weird sci-fi setting with familiar tropes and wild cards. Requiring a decent bit of skill of both maneuverability skills to evade fire and using the capability to enter a controlled stall to dish fire at the enemies on your six or to shoot an enemy from where they least expect. The game takes inspiration from games like **Luftrausers** but offers a completely different game experience with a level of progression through unlocks for later playthroughs such as new fighter choices with different starting gear or more gear unlocked to come by in later games. *– [Real player with 162.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198103044000)* --- ![Cavesweeper](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/880830/header.jpg "") ## Cavesweeper Been a fan of BankBank's work from way back, some of the wildest games Ive ever played have pored out of this bountiful creative mind. Sally forth me if you wrong, but the Indie scene as we know it would basically not exist if not for BankBank… As for the game itself, I find it to be a maddeningly enticing combination of the Minesweeper template with some of the greatest storytelling endeavors of the early computer RPG scene... Wizardry 4, Ultima 4, Ultima 7 and Wizardry 6, 7 and 8 have all left their indelible marks upon this curious little sojourn. Quests Galore in this game, a day without Cavesweeper is like a year without rain. *– [Real player with 9.0 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197997075080)* ---

--- Cavesweeper is a weird combination logic puzzle / RPG battle game that hits this weird sweet spot in my brain. The logic puzzle is exactly the sort of Minesweeper-like constraint-solving mechanic that I can just sit and play with endlessly. But as the game progresses, the puzzle's difficulty is ratcheted up such that it can't be completely solved by logic alone, and you have to make tactical decisions about what risks you're willing to take to gain information. I don't get sucked into a lot of games, but once I start a Cavesweeper run I gotta see it through. I was pretty sad when Apple broke the iPhone version after an upgrade, so I was super excited to learn it had made its way to the PC. *– [Real player with 1.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197996092202)* --- ![My life as an archeologist](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1689350/header.jpg "") ## My life as an archeologist ![](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1689350/extras/LikeSubscribe.gif?t=1636535640) ![](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1689350/extras/ezgif-7-ce7f3b548435.gif?t=1636535640) Every run will help you go further in the archeological treasure hunt, in this clicker roguelite blending the simple mindless entertainment of the clicker with the ever-renewing fun choices of a roguelite, where every single decision can help you reach the final boss or hasten your demise. ![](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1689350/extras/ezgif-7-aa2c54fdd11c.gif?t=1636535640) With 60+ types of equipment and 60+ fully animated monsters to loot them from, you will be able to mold your character as you choose by improving a wide array of stats and gaining unique abilities! ![](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1689350/extras/ezgif-7-43a48743cdc2.gif?t=1636535640) Every single boss you slay, up to 10 per run, will let you choose one artefact from a pool of three. Yes it’s difficult but in a great way. Oneiro is perhaps the very definition of "greater than the sum of its parts." On the surface, it may look like something you've seen or played before, but underneath… Ah... Underneath... There is something beautiful to the "nightmare" of the labyrinth: a transcendent quality to the game wherein its dimensions coalesce into something more. You might say, "What TF is this dude on?" Well sit down and let me tell it to ya mostly straight because this game hooked my apathetic @ss like a grappling hook in a flying spear. *– [Real player with 45.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198100303921)* Oneiro is a first-person roguelike action RPG featuring rock-solid gameplay, dead-serious challenge, and a shocking amount of extremely clever and effective design decisions. It's honestly one of the best games I've played in years. If you love roguelikes, King's Field, Morrowind, or just good action games, at this price it's an absolute must-buy. Its core combat is fundamentally well-designed because all damage can be avoided through skill, although doing so is easier said than done. There are several weapon types, each of which features primary and alternate (usually charge-up) attacks. Special mention goes to the default fist weapon, which has several alternate attacks depending on when you right-click during your auto-combo. *– [Real player with 35.6 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198003936682)* --- ![Code:STAR DUNGEON 星牢:试炼所](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1652290/header.jpg "") ## Code:STAR DUNGEON 星牢:试炼所 Code name: Star Prison is a high-degree-of-freedom hack, slash, shooting and magical dungeon game. I get my my fix of it in an 30 mins to an hour a play which is perfect for me as time is hard to come by for me . I found the game to have medium/hard difficulty, but the difficulty scales based on how you play the game and you are rewarded with a higher score and rewards etc. Too easy then go for the 100%+ encounters too hard stay around 50% and grind a bit until you get better gear. The bosses tend to be the hardest part, but all good boss battles are :) I think of it as if R type had a 3d baby with Doom, and Souls :) In its state now I would rate it above average ,but with the potential to be a great game with more guidance from the community and hard work from the developer. *– [Real player with 24.9 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197970404716)* A little rough around the edges, and a bit light handed on the tutorial however this game grows on you very quickly. The combat is different from most 4x style games there is a lot of control over the ship. There are a few things I have noticed that I am sure will be fixed my biggest problem is when enemy ships are close together your ship does not seem to know who to lock onto. ( but there is a weapon type that does take care of this. ) My biggest issue with the game would be even thou it controls very nice an fluid there is a lack of feeling. (( what i mean by a lack of feeling is that it feels like your not moving. If it was not for the wave like field that is around your ship when moving i would think i was sitting still. )) All in All I would rate this game a solid 7 out of 10\. An with that bottom line is the game is FUN, FLUID,EASY TO LEARN. *– [Real player with 10.0 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198085661420)* ---
