I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU, WAKELING

No man can imagine the diversity of creation. Your odd appearance is a perfect example of this. Wooden, human shaped body, bound to a wheelchair. Mysterious puppet on the stage of the ruined Silver Inn. But your manifestation was foretold - you are the spiritus movens! Explore the darkest corners and face other beings inhabiting this place to find out what your role is in this play. And make it your play.

WAKE UP

Open your eyes. Look at the world. You don’t remember it, but you know it. You recognize strange mannequins - all in all, you’re one of them. But only you got the strange gift of consciousness. Lead by mysterious voices, you need to survive in this unfriendly place. Although you’re bound to a wheelchair, you are not helpless. Use your brain and/or wooden muscles to overcome obstacles, and reveal the past and present of Silver Inn.

WELCOME TO OUR HOTEL

During the days of prosperity, it used to be the fanciest place in Tiny Ferry, famous for its silver mines. However, when the deposits became exhausted, merchants and traders stopped visiting the town, Silver Inn has run to ruin. But now, forgotten by God and people, it is the stage of supernatural events. And apparently you are one of them.

Very good exploration puzzle horror game…

Graphics are excellent, audio sfx are on point, performance takes a dip some times, but its not constant or overtly annoying (i have a 1080).

The ambience on this game is really well done, you feel the tension in every room and part of the building.

Story flows at a good pace, and while it was a bit confusing at first i got the gist of it and understood what what happening.

The inventory system is really cool, like no holsters or menus, you grab stuff and place it in your carry on, it has a few mechanics that make you think “hey thats pretty clever use of vr”.

This is one of the most atmospheric and immersive games I’ve played in VR. The environments are beautiful, eerie, and richly detailed. The ambient sounds are entrancing. The hotel feels expansive but the environments gently guide you in the right direction as you progress. The level of horror has been just right for me so far. It’s slow and creepy but punctuated by moments of intense action and unsettling discoveries.

As other reviewers have mentioned, your experience with this game might be spoiled by the awkwardness of the controls or by motion sickness. My will to progress in this game has often been at odds with my stomach. I settled upon using the joystick mounted on the wheelchair for movement in the game. I found this method to be immersive while allowing me to play short sessions with minimal discomfort. The comfort settings are helpful, but I would prefer that the game include an option for reduced FOV for all movement, not just turning.

Impostor Inside Us

Impostor Inside Us

This game saved my life.

I am 29.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand… my working hand… my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide.

This was on my watch list for a little while because of how brazen an Among Us knock-off it is. However, as someone sick of that game’s community and quit playing due to it (seriously, voting me out for pointing out the killer moments in when they kill someone in front of me? Yeah, I’m the asshole. But I digress.) I want something new. I thought this would be it and, well, Impostor Inside Us hit the spot surprisingly.

No, this is not a multiplayer game, though I wish it were. IIU is like a kid wanted to make a knock-off Among US game and did everything but code it. That was done by their parents. It’s an honest, I hope unintentional satirical take on the popular social deduction title full of typos, grammatical errors and overly dramatic text chat proclamations.

Mirror Layers

Mirror Layers

This game does more with the horror genre than just the standard “run/hide from the monster while solving mundane puzzles and piecing together a run-of-the-mill edgy backstory”, and I really appreciate that about it.

I really enjoyed this game a lot, and it was definitely worth the $20. However, it’s not flawless, so I’ll go over the pros and cons (focusing more on the pros to better paint the experience I had with this game).

PROS:

  • Most of the puzzles leave you feeling satisfied. There are a few outliers (and I’ll go over those in the CONS section), but the vast majority of them get you thinking about them for a while, before fragmented pieces of information randomly piece together in your head, and you feel this appreciation for the ingenuity of the puzzle-design. Most of the times, all the hints are laid there before you, and there aren’t any red-herrings either. Unlike many riddle-based games, you don’t look back on the puzzle feeling cheated. Enigma 2 was a masterpiece in my opinion, and I’ve seen many other players share the same sentiment. As I’ve said though, there are some outliers.

(Edit: please play the demo first, it’s standalone from the full game and got different content and puzzles! It’s got its own different experience you’ll love it!)

Playing the game on ps4 controller, thankfully consistent with character movements and item usage and only need to use the mouse for accessing the in-game pc and menu screen.

It’s so good and atmosphere is really scary and the things you find out about apartment 12…

The in-game social media has an interesting checkpoint system where you never see posts from people posting at a later segment in the game so no spoilers from other players who advanced further (there’s a report button if you do find spoilers, but atm, the community is very good at giving tips without giving away the answers)

This “game” will last you around 5 minutes at best, isn’t scary, isn’t fun and actually, isn’t even really much of a game. The trailer is far more entertaining.

PROS

Decently Priced

Challenging, but fun!

Accurately depicts the current state of the Pandemic

Art + Sounds are nice, but a tad repetitive

CONS

Short Game

When you die, you have to wait 5 seconds to reply. Which isn’t bad, but it drives me crazy since you can’t skip the wait

I get randomly stuck on objects sometimes, not that big of a deal though

No saving, so you can’t come back where you left off if you quit

Overall, its worth playing!
