Very relaxing word puzzle game.

The music and background images gave an unique atmosphere to a game like this.

Definitely recommend.

WORDLAND

Beautiful and simple game with super easy mechanics (move and rotate pieces) to build the words that answer the clues. 100 levels on easy, normal and hard difficulty. Very relaxing and easy depending on how good your vocabulary is. Game has beautiful backgrounds on every level with button to change it but they’re all amazing. Devs should definitely consider adding a DLC of just the backgrounds!

The game works fine and what you get is acceptable for under 1€. First you gotta figure out the word from clues and then tetris them together. The difficulty is all over the place and it feels a little unpolished but it is fun.

Some notable things:

Beating a level on hard doesn’t count as beating it on the easier difficulties but they are all the same words so getting all achievements is basically repeating the same puzzles three times.

Some of the clues make no sense, i googled one of the “weird” clues and apparently it was from the guardians “quiptic” series. A puzzle series which is intentionally cryptic and nonsensical. It makes only sense if you know that you are looking for a cryptic solution, missing that makes me think the dev is probably not a native english speaker and took most clues from random online puzzles.

A very short game of dragging the alphabet tiles to make the word based on the image or symbol given at the bottom of the tiles. You will be given an option after a few minutes to reveal the answer if you don’t know the answer. It’s a short fun game but the dragging is a bit lagging and possibly slot the tile to the unintended position. The timer for the online mode is a bit suicidal to me.

There is still a room of improvement for this game especially the tile-dragging part. Also, if you want to choose a different language, it will take quite some time because you have to keep clicking the flag until you get what you want. It will be fun if they come out with categories and each category has 50 words. Or swap words to make a sentence based on a series of images or symbols.

Word Forward

Brain-pleasing, highly addictive puzzle game with an earworm of a theme tune. Would 100% recommend to all of the word lovers out there. One minor complaint: when I beat Level 500, the menu stopped working. I consider that a crash. Tried it again and got the same result. Not much of a congratulatory message! :-)

You have to like word games and have good English vocabulary to get the most out of a game like Word Forward. The interface is simple and reasonably well done, but dragging diagonally between the squares on the board can sometimes take more than one attempt. If I could wish for one thing it would be Steam achievements, because without it, the game can become quite monotonous.

This game’s best feature is the background sound. The game is simple, move around and get the words without getting nicked by one of the hazards.

Read about this on r/languagelearninng on reddit, really enjoying it so far :) Love the ability to upload your own vocab lists. The music is great, although I’d like to see the option to use your own at some point in the future. I teach English and this is something I think a lot of my students would enjoy instead of using regular flashcard apps. Great idea!

Tyfortress: Tactical Typing

This is an excellent typing game. The difficulty scale ranges from sheer beginner skill level, to very difficult… I am fairly good at typing with an average wpm of about 90 (highest of about 120 or so), and the harder levels gave me quite a challenge. I have not yet earned every achievement, although I do intend to. Can’t beat the price too. Worth the money!

Very good for the price. The vocabulary and sentence structure is a little weird, but I really like the design and game play of it. Engaging and fun.

If you like Scrabble, you’ll love this game! Learning how to play is simple, but mastering the game is challenging. Thinking ahead is important to getting high scores, as is using the special tiles strategically. Every letter in a word contributes to a word-score multiplier, so scoring a single long word (e.g., “marginate”) is much better than scoring multiple short words (e.g., “mar”, “gin”, and “ate”), all else being equal. As the game nears its end, the board starts filling with indestructible stone tiles and vowels become scarce. When the board is completely filled in and no more words can be spelled, the game is over, and you will be prompted to upload a recording of what moves you played. You can also watch recordings of others' games and potentially learn valuable techniques and useful new words, which you can try using on your next play of the game. This game can be quite addicting and easily provides tens or even hundreds of hours of enjoyment!

I used to love playing Bookworm, a PopCap word game. But it’s no longer supported and has disappeared. This word game scratches the same itch. It’s fun, requires a certain degree of paying attention, but is also a good way to pass some time. It’s enough of a challenge not to get boring.

At this point, I’ve lost track of how long ago I got this game and how long I’ve played it. I mean, yes, Steam tells me a number of hours, but that’s been spread out over almost every day for the last… two years? Maybe more? I’ve actually lost count.

The reason for that is, this game is a great way to wind down at the end of the day, by way of a clever idea for the kind of puzzle that wouldn’t be out of place in a newspaper– and I mean that as a compliment.

If you want to chill with some intelligent word-puzzles, then I can only sing this game’s praises.

The in-game puzzles themselves take about 8-10 hours to completely exhaust. The themed sets are great, and I would definitely love to see more of them added in. There’s nothing extremely difficult, the hardest puzzles take about 10 minutes to put together. Right now, the puzzles are designed to be relaxing, but it’d be cool to have additional optional goals like using as few words as possible. That way, there’s incentive to play older puzzles.

The dailies are fun, and with 3 different board sizes everyday, it makes sure anyone can go into this game anytime and always have something new.

I love this game. You don’t have to know another language to play. You pick which order you want the languages to give you clues. If one language doesn’t give you a hint then just click a few times to see other languages. You can often tell from the foreign word, especially the more complex words are very similar to English and other languages. Russian never helped me. It’s totally different. You often have to think of synonyms, like the clue is “thema” which is like theme and it’s a seven letter word that starts with S and has a J in it…. subject. Part of it is finding the words, and part of it is making them fit together. The later levels will have four or five words in a letter grid, and it’s like putting together a puzzle to fit the words in… You can use letters more than once, but you can’t cross lines.

This is a really nice game that includes several languages, including English, Russian, German, Portuguese, Spanish and French. This game will help you to learn or familiarize yourself with other languages.

There are 300 different levels to complete to unlock all the achievements. The game takes approximately 7 hours to complete. All the achievements are unlocked by completing all the levels, therefore none of the achievements are missable.
