Cognition Method: Initiation
Cognition Method: Initiation is a game similar in nature to other cube-based puzzle games, so if you enjoy them, you will feel right at home here.
The premise of the game is that you are an astronaut investigating a cube-shaped object in space that is being overrun by an infestation of some kind, all the while searching for and being guided by your father, whom was lost in a prior expedition but managed to make contact again as you entered the object. He instructs you to solve puzzles and venture deeper into the facility. Make of that what you will.

Cognition Methot: Initiation is a demo of a story-driven puzzle game that will come out some time in 2022.
As of right now, you will get no more than 1 hour of gameplay with puzzles that will introduce the core mechanic of altering gravity. This isn’t a negative element since it raises that complex and interesting challenges can be made in its final launch.
The strongest part of the demo is the art direction, not for having hyper-realistic graphics, but for using the light in an inteligent way, having simplistic environments that combine elements of art déco with the style of Escher in contrast with organic shapes.

Ever Fallen Empire
Ever Fallen Empire is a turn-based galactic empire strategic management game.
( With significant “Custom Game” support. The main campaign is practically a mod resting on the framework. )
The galaxies of EFE are complex, and governed by a dense strata of Anchors Of Civilisation.
From the Integrity of Government, to the Cohesion of the Populace, and the Infrastructure of Industry. And 12 more.
Anchors that knock on to one another, causing waves of repercussions to sweep your territory. Waking people to the Empire’s deep corruption.
As the Annihilationists rise from their holes seeking to end all life, as your rivals move to take your throne for their own cruel ends, and the freedom fighters marshal rebellions to free themselves. A galaxy inhabited by men and women that seek to survive and flourish. Or steal and murder.
Some heed the Creator’s words.
Others, forge their own definitions of morality.
Factions of characters, join together. Funnelling their resources into effecting the galaxy at large.
Into assisting you, or fighting you.
You, the New Authority of the Ever Empire.
But you shall order vast operations.
To save Humanity from itself - and from you - for the last time in all history.
Cripple communication. Ruin space-travel. Shatter the very stars of our night’s sky.
Build deep archives of our histories cemented into leviathanic super planets.
Coax Autonomous Intelligences into siding with your ideals.
This is your empire. Your people, they are your responsibility.
You shall not allow it to become, Ever Fallen.
You will bring down this rancid empire, forever.
There are a number of campaigns, and once-off scenarios. As well as extensive custom-game tools that allow you to alter the very fabric of the galaxies you shall command.
EFE relies on imagination, and lacks graphical views or vistas. Though I do put effort into making it look presentable.
This is not an action packed game and is mostly menus. It is a slow paced strategy management game about planning for events far into the future.
This game sadly, costs a bit of time and strong mental effort.
Sorry about that. Not really much I can do given the subject matter.
But I promise you stories of a far future Humanity that has found itself enslaved to systems we are already weary of.
And that you will find yourself in complex, daunting situations of slim yet grand hopes.
Main Campaign
The main campaign hold you as the new supreme Authority of the mamothetic galaxy spanning Ever Empire.
An empire unmatched in all of history, with a single human being at it’s pinnacle of power.
Yet. You are tasked by your father to destroy it. Before it becomes more nightmarish than it already is. While keeping Humanity alive despite the downfall you shall incur.
Regardless of which campaign you choose. Use logic, thoughtfulness, and planning, reach a complex end goal despite strong opposition.
Execute planned Actions to effect huge portions of the galaxy known as Locells. Each with deep statistics that represent their current state.
Carefully shift these “Anchors Of Civilisation” to your needs. Forging rebellions, inspring collapses, upsetting economies, and suppressing would be attempts to maintain the Ever Empire.
Ultimately, destroy your own Empire.
Victory rests on your ability to predict the fallout of your actions as the supreme Authority of a science-fiction galaxy that tries to be real.
If you find the campaign too easy, go into the Universe Forge and make your own nightmare.
Maker’s Pace to you.
New Authority, of all Humanity.

Lightmatter
Lightmatter took me 9 hours to complete both endings and while I wasn’t really satisfied with either ending, the journey to get there was a lot of fun. Lightmatter isn’t shy when it shows its love for Portal but it is really heavy on the mechanics from The Talos Principle. Instead of jammers, you’ve got spotlights and instead of connectors you’ve got photon connectors.

PROS
- great antagonist. Virgil is no Cave Johnson or GlaDos but he is suitably condescending and megalomaniacal. I hated him but in a good way.

Lightmatter is a first person ‘escape the facility’ exercise that uses light to create pathways through dark places. You play from a 1st person perspective as a journalist who is visiting the company headquarters for a publicity event. Evidently, a system failure has occurred and the building has been evacuated, leaving you behind. The CEO provides guidance and instruction (via an announcement system) to help you exit through 38 chapters. The music and voice overs are engaging and the landscape is your basic industrial complex with lots of moving parts, buttons, levers, etc.

Liberation Mutagenix
Liberation Mutagenix is a fun game that feels reminiscent of the older lemmings games, but stands out with its own identity of a uniquely polished artstyle. I really enjoyed playing through each of these levels and thinking about how to beat it until everything clicks. The game allows for you to trial and error as much as you want with being able to restart levels even with your tools already placed down, allowing you to figure out more complex puzzles levels without having to waste too much time on setup.

ReThink
Rethink is a puzzle franchise by Yaeko games a single indie Dev. It was originally released in mar 2017 and then completely overhauled again in a reworked version at the end of 2018 due to feedback and criticism from various gamers wanting more optimisation.
It’s an impossible task to please EVERYBODY while at the same time playing catch up with technological advances, being there for tech support and at the same time creating something new to the franchise, but that’s exactly what he seems to have done. He has been trying to please everybody.

I’m used to FPP games (First Person Puzzle if you need a translation). Completed the Talos Principle, the Portal series and its main mods (Tag, Mel before the story mode patch), Q.U.B.E., Antichamber, the Witness, some others I forgot the name of (Magnetic Cage Closed? something like that)…
So when I saw that game in the store, I was: “oh, seems nice, I should try it”. Then I did.
And honestly? I don’t regret it.
When I first played the game, I noticed one downside: no rebindable keys. Asked about it in the forum, it got patched in (and fixed) in the following days. So now, I don’t see any problem.

Take Control
Welcome to the future! The golden age of genetic engineering!
After many years of human DNA research, the head of Change The Future Corporation offered the world transgenic implants that pushed the boundaries of human capabilities.
Telekinesis, pyrokinesis, X-ray vision from the comic book pages have become reality.
New abilities shook up the order of things. The army is expecting perfect soldiers. Companies are issuing an ultimatum for their employees to be modified.
Anyone with enough money can purchase an implant that will give them a “superpower” from the constantly expanding list.
Scientific progress leads to an increase in unemployment and the discontent of ordinary people who refuse the implants. Modified criminals are appearing all over the world.
The police cannot control all the “superheroes”. However, the research of genes and the expansion of the list of abilities do not stop.
Change The Future Corporation makes a statement about creating its own security unit that would protect the interests of the company from the most aggressive opponents of modification.
Soon after a new security detachment takes on the responsibility of detecting and neutralizing criminals with superpowers. Its name is DNM (Detachment for Neutralization of the Modified).
You are an operative of Change The Future Corporation, who received an experimental ability to control other people’s consciousness after voluntarily undergoing genetic modification.
You arrive at the corporation’s training ground to pass the obstacle course to fully master the new modification.
Take Control is a single-player action game with puzzle elements. You take on the role of a DNM operative with the ability to control the minds of others.
Features of the game:
Your mind is your main weapon! When the ability is activated, time will stop, and you will switch to the tactical mode.
Study the situation and the environment, come up with a solution for a specific problem, capture your enemy’s mind and force them to execute your plan.
After exiting the tactical mode, the clock will start again, and you will find out whether the actions you chose will let you achieve success.
Use your ability to neutralize enemies!
Or to solve various tasks.
The World of the Future! Over the course of your playthrough you will get to experience an amazing world where the boundaries of the human body have been erased.
Use the environment! Fire-extinguishers, switches, terminals. You are surrounded by objects that can help you win.
Improve yourself! You can’t change your ability but you can improve it!
