Hunt: The Unknown Quarry

Hunt: The Unknown Quarry

I’m thoroughly enjoying this game. It’s a great alternative to Cluedo, but slightly more challenging and in-depth, in my opinion. It may take a few games to get to grips with the mechanics, cards and options available, but it won’t be long before you find yourself either being targeted/preyed upon or interrogating/attacking other players. It’s a dog-eat-dog type of survival game, where everyone’s out for themselves including the monster. The theme and daunting background music enhance the game, making you feel slightly uneasy (like prey), not knowing for sure who, what or where the monster is, unless they reveal themselves. Also, playing as the monster is an additional challenge, which requires an alternative strategic approach. You’ll soon find you can’t just go around munching on fellow opponents in broad daylight, but have to maintain a far more stealthy disposition. I felt the game was fairly balanced well, particularly if playing the monster against AI opponents (for mediocre players). However, I haven’t had the chance to properly play any friends online yet, so can’t say if this will be the case against live players, who I think will be a little more savvy. In any case, I believe this could only enhance the game further, making self-preservation more challenging. I’ve seen other comments related to lack of online activity (no one to play with) and about playing for free. For me personally, it’s no big deal, never felt the real need to be able to play strangers online. I took a gamble, bought the game and tested inviting a friend to play (for free), which worked fine, no issues. I was sceptical at first after reading some comments, but am extremely pleased to say how glad I am that I made this purchase. I can’t recommend ‘Hunt…’ highly enough, for those who love Cluedo, Mystery of the Abbey (tabletop games), but then maybe I’m just extremely optimistic and easily pleased.

Okay I love this game. Like a lot it mixes a lot of elements I like. It has a huge learning curve as many said which I think could be cut down like if you had a sheet or a tab to check what monsters did what that would be cool. Other than that the people complaining about assholes in chats and that didn’t group play I bet, its would be much easier playing with just friends than random people

Over all I don’t make a lot of reviews but i love this game so fucking much I’m leaving a review.

Zof

Zof

Wow… Just finished Zof and it is a very well done puzzler. Had a friend not pointed it out, I would have missed the experience entirely.

Pete Wilkins has done a great job of putting together a series of unrelated puzzles (some easy, some very complicated) that give you a true feeling of satisfaction when you solve one. The reward for completing each puzzle (or puzzle area) is a Steam Achievement plus entry into the next world. There is no story and none is needed.

The game consists of diverse (and often fantastic) landscapes done in a variety of artistic styles. The sound track is primarily environmental sounds and if you take your headphones off, you are apt to miss important aural clues. The mechanisms to move between the early puzzles are brilliant and, often, I laughed in delight as I was transported between worlds.

Zof is an excellent exposition in abstract puzzle making that uses simple logic but still keep the player wandering around like a headless chicken most of the time. The puzzles present within this game are all straight forward, once you know what to do. The most difficult part of solving each puzzle is understanding the logic within. Thus there’s nothing really all that complex about the puzzles, but you still have to think long and hard about each of the clues given.

The Holy City

The Holy City

This is an amazing tool for anyone curious to learn more about Jerusalem and the many religions that coexist in this fantastic place. Very well executed. I have to say it’s very unusual for me to review projects. This because very few actually wow me to the point of actually wanting to share it with others…. This is an amazing experience that allows you to feel like you can touch the Holy Sepulcher and place a note on the Western Wall. Just fantastic. I know this is a virtual visit- but the fact the places were scanned from real life really makes me appreciate the accuracy and be able to enjoy looking at each location at my own pace. Throughout this journey I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful realistic-looking recreation of many Jerusalem temples that allowed me to freely look around and spend a lot of time inspecting painting and inscriptions on the walls. When it switched from the interactive gamefied version to the 360 video version was totally amazing to recognize the precise location where the camera was placed and enjoy seeing it filled with real people. I hope to see more soon.

Tiny Room Stories: Town Mystery

Tiny Room Stories: Town Mystery

Thank you to the developer and Publisher Kiary Games for creating and providing an excellent game for me to think, escape and enjoy.

The escape room/ puzzle adventure is currently my favorite genre and it continues with Tiny Room Stories: Town Mystery. It’s a fresh, excellent and a polished addition that hopefully is only getting started.

Tiny Room Stories: Town Mystery is a simple story where you play as Detective Peter Stone who receives a letter from your father asking for help in the town of Redville. As you arrive the town is completely deserted of all residents and thus will begin the adventure to piece together what has happened. The narrative is small and maybe a few sentences per chapter, until near the end, but is enough to make sense in terms of what you need to do, why and where you need to go next.

Real player with 38.8 hrs in game

Sleek, satisfying puzzle-centric adventure with rotation mechanics.

The set-up in “Tiny Room Stories” is minimal and straightforward – you’re an unnamed PI following a letter from your father with a request for help. Arriving at a small town to investigate, you find it completely void of all its residents. Or animals. There will be plants, but that’s all you’re getting. Why, how, and where to did everyone vanish are the questions you’ll be trying to answer from now on. Weaving your way from location-to-location and tracking clues that are sprinkled throughout, you’ll uncover a sinister plot that will turn a bit wild by the end.

Excellent game! Very challenging but not impossible to figure out. The hint system is very good at pushing you in the right direction without flat out giving you the answer. I invited my friends into Discord and we all brainstormed together to figure it out. It almost felt like we were there in real life figuring out as a group which was awesome! Don’t listen to the negative reviews that were left because the game was too difficult. A lot of thought and effort went into this game and it shows.
