Axis Football 2018
For me, Axis 18 got off to a rough start. At first it was receivers who caught everything even if they were triple covered. Then there was a problem with the run game. CPU teams would finish the game with something like 14 yards in 18 attempts. Then there were issues with the ball not being spotted correctly, or the wrong team getting to choose what happens on a penalty.
And then it all got fixed. The developer listened to his customers and fixed the issues that were reported.
Axis 18 is now a pretty solid football game. The stats are realistic and the game is enjoyable to watch. Yes, I said watch. I play strictly exhibition mode. I watch the games. Occasionally I’ll play in coach mode if I want to call the plays. So I can’t comment on how the game is if you control the players.

I was lucky enough to be able to play the beta for this game and now that the game is out, I bought the game and am more than happy with it. Let me start by saying that the game is developed by a small indie team, but man do they listen to the community! ‘Can you add this or change that?’ Discuss, update, test, done. That’s the attitude that makes a game successful. They had a vision when making the game, but they know gamers have options and the future is looking good for sim football. So here are my thoughts on the game.

Axis Football 2015
Ok I’m fully supporting these devs because this is really the only way that we are likely to get a good football sim on the PC. EA has exclusive deals with NFL and NCAA and will never port to the PC. MS is trying to make make exclusive deals with 2K so that they can have sports games exclusive to xb1 and MS10. In addition It looks like MS is trying to start yet again their own distribution network for the PC that will only run on xb1 and MS10.
I don’t like this environment where you are being forced to buy a console or upgrade an OS just so you can play games. If you are like me and don’t like the way this is going then you need to support indie developers like this who are really trying to make a difference.

First off I would like to say that I think the passing mechanic is the best innovation to the football genre in over a decade. I just wish that the rest of the game was as well fleshed out. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had fun with the game, but it feels like it should be in early access or a promotional tool to get a kick-stater going and not something being sold as a finished retail product. Also, it’s awesome that this game supports Xbox One controllers.
For me it just has too many issues to recommend it at $20, which puts it in the same class of competition as games like Rocket League and SuperMega Baseball. But at a discount it is worth checking out but bear in mind it does have a few glitches and bugs here and there.

CountryBalls Heroes
For this review I’m considering three things:
-
this is a new game (so bugs are expected)
-
the developers are indie so they might take longer to patch and update the game
-
if this game is on your radar you probably enjoy polandball/countryball meme comics.
So, I want to start off with the negatives. Nothing I hate more than reading through a review, getting hyped for the good, just to see some stuff that’s a deal breaker for me. We’ll start off with bugs/design issues:
SAVE GAME BUG
Probably the worst bug in the lot. It basically makes saves a pointless feature. Basically, if you load a save game all/most of the settlements disappear. They disappear from the map, from the quick bar to the right. Essentially destroying your save.

As an old Heroes 3 Fan, CountryBalls Heroes was a must buy for me.
Graphics are nicely drawn, animations are ok and the music is nice too. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either. I like the basic idea of HOMM 3 meets political incorrectness and the game has humor and charme. I got some chuckles here and there.
The gameplay is 100% HOMM 3, but a bit simpler and more shallow. You build your base, ride around the map with your hero, fighting for resources, producing more units until you’re strong enough to attack the opponent.

I Borrow
You borrow stuff from your surroundings. Nothing more.
In the game you find yourself in situations where you need stuff but the only way to get it is borrowing it unnoticed. People around you are very tolerant, but their tolerance runs out quickly if you are caught borrowing their stuff!
Gameplay mechanics:
Pick up required objects and take them home without being noticed. If you are noticed you will lose trust and the owner will take back his stuff. Once you run out of trust points, you have failed the level. When you bring objects home, you can complete given objectives, for example collecting 3 chairs or building a house out of 4 walls.
Features:
Picking up objects
You can pick items like, a chair, lamp, wall, etc.
Building houses
Assemble your dream house with the walls you borrowed
People protect their stuff
They don’t really want you borrowing their property
Blocking people with objects
When they get annoying
More stuff to do
-
Hiding from people with objects that you took
-
Collecting items in the goal area
-
Local multiplayer
Windmill Kings
It’s great concept unfortunatly there are a couple flaws that make this game a no for me. The positive are: great graphics, nice music, funny story. Requirements are low and the game runs well 1v1 on the same keyboard and single player on the touchscreen also works (tested on surface pro)
Now the bad: First is the duration. Campaign on normal takes less than an hour. I had a lot of fun working my way up in the campaign but after that you can only play replay the same thing or the Dark world which is brutally hard compare to the normal difficulty. There no replayability unless you do multiplayer. Playing against the computer becomes easy as soon as you realize that the AI is in fact the same pattern of enemy coming your way. I would say you should wait for a sale 1/2 price it will give you a couple hours of gameplay perfect for a short flight.

Another great game by Bigosaur - with their typical art style and sound style. Great cartoon-like graphics with challenging gameplay. This is a 2D strategy game with kings, medieval knights, giants, archers, healers etc. Story mode is cool, as is the skirmish mode that has different scales of battle. PvP is also available. Definitely recommended!

Post Human W.A.R
Beautiful game !
I’m not a big player of strategy games but I must admit I totally got into this one. First of all, the background is rich and full of humor. All the voices and sounds are really fun, the animations beautiful and the musics work well with the atmosphere of the maps.
And more importantly, the game is very well thought in terms of game-play and strategical/tactical options. Each of the three factions has its specificity and can be played differently, which adds fun if you want to master all of them. I think some units could be even a little bit more different. You can build very versatile armies due to the huge amount of units (tanks, healers, fast units, archers, mass destruction creatures…) and thus adopt completely different strategies. The management of resources is also interesting as it allows you to boost your units or build protections on the battlefield. And finally the existence of a champion and a totem to protect add also another dynamic to the game.

I dont write many reviews, but this game deserves a review
If you like turnbased strategy games like Fire Emblem or Advance wars this game is a must have.
Post Human War is a post apocalyptic turn based strategy game in a time that humans are gone.
The game has (singleplayer) campaign battles (I think around 4) Each campaign has 6 missions and they are difficult. I have played a lot turnbased strategy games, but this game is really challenging. For me thats a positive thing.
Another big part this game is the multiplayer part. With a lot of different options. But…to be honest I played only one MP game, because I prefer to play single player games.

Voltron: Cubes of Olkarion
I first had to learn all the different effects of each cube in the tutorial, but then I won against the easy AI which was rewarding and the explosions are very cool. The local multiplayer mode is also cool. I played with my wife. It’s going to be very sophisticated to win against her, I fear ;)

If you like real-time puzzle games or RTS, chances are you will love this game. Players have to stick cubes to each other that serve as a defense against enemy projectiles as well as launching projectiles on their own. Each single cube is pretty simple - one launches fireballs in a straight line, for example - but they can be combined to manipulate projectile positioning, launch strong combo attacks, reflect enemy attacks and much more.
The game manages to keep a great balance between frantic real-time action and strategic thinking. Even if you’re in a really tough spot, chances are that a few well-chosen moves can get you back on track. Gravity is a thing, and falling cubes break, so if you manage to hit the base of the enemy’s structure, one fireball can let their entire majestic structure collapse. It’s glorious.

Axis Football 2016
I want to give as detailed and unbiased review as possible so no one is misled.
I recommend this game not just because it’s the only football game on steam, but also because this game has also showed a good amount of progress from last year’s version. With that in mind, I’m not saying this game is perfect. This game is most likely slightly overpriced. Not as overpriced as 2015, which I couldn’t see spending 15 dollars on. That price, is probably more fit for this game, and for ‘15, a cool $6-10 dollars. The game needs funding though, so overpaying isn’t awful because Danny puts the money back into the game.

Pros:
+This Game is way better than Front Page Sports Football that was released a few years ago.
+Graphics slighty better than Maximum Football, not much we can have for PC American football market.
+Price is very reasonable, cheaper than Front Page Sports Football, Maximum Football and most of the popular PC
currently on the market which majority of them are NON 3D simulation.
+Adding the sideline cheerleaders is a big plus.
Cons:
-No Individual Player Stats.
-No AI vs AI (I was hoping it would be included on the initial release).

Axis Football 2017
Having so much fun with this game… as far as non-NFL, non-Madden games go, this is top notch. I’ve been turned off of Madden for a long time, so this game has been awesome to see progress to the point it is at now.
It’s not perfect, but it’s fun and that’s all that really matters. Gameplay is fast and smooth - it reminds me a bit of Tecmo Bowl back in the day. The aimed passing is a lot of fun, I still have to get around to setting up my controller with joy2key so I can combine controller movement with mouse aimed passing… then I think I will have the perfect set up.

This is the only cheap American football game on the market as of now. When I saw it, I was ecstatic! I wanted a football game for the PC so badly. While it’s nice to have a game that can compete with Madden in some form or another, I have to admit: This game is nowhere close to Madden as far as animation quality, lack of bugs, AI quality, etc. You can do far more in Madden than in this game. It’s insanely buggy, and the AI is not on the same level as Madden. If you want to decide your own defensive plays, expect to see safeties and CBs just giving up on recievers. Even IF they keep with their target reciever, you will never see an interception… EVER. At least when it’s your safeties. You’ll get picked off over and over and over again. Juking and power plays are lackluster, and rarely work. If you decide to simulate a season (which you can do, and I’m so glad you can), and if the team you chose doesn’t reach the playoffs, there is no way to simulate past that point. You have to delete that Franchise Mode save, and start over.
