A simple, fun, addicting game. The music really stands outs! I would recommend for those who are looking for something to play in between other games, or with your friends locally.

ASDAD: All-Stars Dungeons and Diamonds

ASDAD: All-Stars Dungeons and Diamonds

ASDAD is a a maze game with the objective to collect the most diamonds while gaining buffs as well as traps and negative effects to throw at the other player. Originally it caught my eye because of its pixel graphics and bright colorful appearance. This is a wonderful casual game to enjoy with friends/family locally. I was not able to test it with a live person yet but could easily see having friendly competitive battles with my nephews when they visit. Playing versus AI is just not the same as having banter with a friend as you try to beat each other. I really hope one day to see this game update to include Steam friends as the friendly taunting would make this game amazing in my opinion.

Firstly let me say that this game epitomises Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, in that it has the capacity to both appease and alienate players.

Modes:

Race for the Idol: You and another player must circumvent an arena whilst avoiding various obstacles along the way. The first person to reach the end wins.

Player versus Player: Self explanatory

Practice: Self explanatory

Positives:

  • The art work, sound effects and overall presentation are not only excellent, but they wouldn’t feel out of place in any Treasure (of Gunstar Heroes, Radiant Silvergun or Ikaruga fame), Capcom or 2D Konami offering. They’re really quite awesome, and really add to the quality of the overall package.

A very good game, it has got everything you want in a game like this. It’s free, and if paying I could be able to play alone, it would be nice and a way to make me pay the people that made this game. All I can say is thank you, developers, I’d deffinetly pay to play a game like this with some more content. A coop version would be cool too. Imagine playing with your friends and killing bosses in a game like this.

Try this game, it’s free, you don’t loose anything. In my profile I haven’t played much, but I’ve played in my friend’s account and the game has 11 maps and everyone with its own different aspects. It has got some more power ups, the only problem is that you can’t change the buttons of the actions.

River City Melee Mach!!

River City Melee Mach!!

It mostly reuses the same engine from Super Sports Challenge, but instead of several events it’s all-out fighting with a few new features. While that means it isn’t the most ambitious game on the devs' part, it’s still more of the proven good gameplay. Lots of characters, moves, and unlockables. Each team has a different storyline, and semi-randomized opponents adds a LOT of replay value. On the downside of things, the keyboard layout shares the same flaws as Super Sports Challenge (U, J, O… and cannot be remapped) but at least the controls are responsive. Controller support also looks grim, but if you can circumvent this with JoyToKey (or something similar), this game is lots of fun!

At first I have given a negative feedback to this game considering how I loved the Kunio series soo much, because the ai in endless mod was not responding. The good news is there is a small change in that. Developers are active, and I appreciate that

I can’t get the game to work at all. Level codes don’t seem to work and can’t determine what keyboard controls do what. Was very much looking forward to playing this classic from the past.

Keeps reverting to map view, which then doesn’t allow further game play. Only command that works is space bar which then restarts the game.

Old school classic. Rather unforgiving, and some parts are rather trial-and-error because you often can’t tell what a switch is going to do until you flick it, then you realise you’ve made part of the map inaccessible…but that’s just how games were back then.

A nice, cerebral puzzle game from the late 80s. Hundreds of levels guaranteeing plenty of gameplay time.

I’d only ever played the Atari and Amiga versions before this, and whilst I do still prefer them because they have better sound and graphics…the DOS version does run a little slower which is arguably a good thing.

LOVE IT! Played with 3 good friends in a 4 player local vs game. The most fun I’ve had with my friends in a new game in a long time.

Fast paced and quick thinking, every round ended with cheers and laughter as we found new ways to outsmart eachother.

Never a dull moment with friends in this game.

Endless hours of fun!

This game is worth 5 bucks. What you get when you buy this game is beautiful animations, fantastic music, and fast-paced gameplay that’s easy to pick up while having a lot of depth for those willing to master it. The solo missions do a great job of easing you into the game’s mechanics while not bogging you down in tutorials. And the multiplayer experience is frankly amazing.

Your full enjoyment of the game will depend on if you can set it up with multiplayer though. It basically requires 4 remotes; playing with keyboard controls puts you at a huge disadvantage. Fortunately, the game not very resource-intensive, so you carry around a cheap laptop to play it anywhere. Unfortunately, multiplayer is less convenient for desktop PC users, especially if your PC is set up in a bedroom or somewhere with limited space.

Short but fun 2D platformer.

As one of the four available characters (they seemed pretty much the same other than their looks) you jump, shoot, dash and shield your way through a bunch of short missions.

There are three different mission types:

  • Target practice = Hit all the targets scattered around the stage using either your gun, shield or dash.

  • Danger Zone = Reach the goal while avoiding enemies/traps.

  • Dash = Rush to the goal as fast as possible.

There are multiple stages, each with their own gimmick, and despite each stage being only 20-60 seconds long most of them were fun to play through.

Heavy Burger

Heavy Burger

If you like twinstick shooters, retro arcade games, and local 2v2 multiplayer games, Heavy Burger is a keeper.

[Watch: Video Gameplay]

Pros

  • Pixel perfect recreation of arcade classics

  • Simple, intuitive, and responsive controls

  • 2v2, 4P Controller support, great party game

  • Allows customized gauntlets of your favorite maps

  • Fairly challenging achievements for hunters

Cons

  • No online multiplayer. But it does have bot support for solo play

Real player with 22.4 hrs in game

Coming out of nowhere with no marketing that I’m aware of, Heavy Burger is a four-player local competitive game that takes the bullet-dumping dodge-rolling twin stick shooter antics of Enter The Gungeon with the endzone-driving pressure of Nidhogg and wraps it all in a celebratory orgy of Data East’s 80s arcade catalog, creating a wonderfully chaotic game that perfectly targets a demographic of around zero people.

Up to four Peter Peppers (human-controlled or bots) split into two teams and, armed with automatic burger launchers, scramble to grab a bag of money dropped in the center of the map. The team that takes possession attempts to run the money to the opposite side of the screen while their opponents try to gun them down with shotguns, miniguns, lasers, and other randomly spawned weapons in order to take the bag for themselves. Once someone manages to cross the endzone, the map is “cleared” for that team, and they move onto the next stage that’s based on one of five Data East arcade games, each with their own gimmicks: Side Pocket’s pool table full of balls that can be shot at opponents; Karate Champ’s arena that fills with, well, karate champs trying to punch and sweep our culinary heroes; Heavy Gunner’s cliffside fortress full of turrets and trigger-happy soldiers; Lock and Chase’s randomly-generated maze that fills with policemen; and of course, Pepper’s own Burger Time, complete with falling patties and toppings along with evil eggs and sausages harrassing the players.

So far, pretty fun! I like the music, the art style, its great! My only complaint is the lack of online battles. I want to play locally, or match up with my friends via friend battle. Thats just my nitpick though. The AI is challenging so I don’t mind too much.

Fan of the old jump n bump from the 90s. Used to sit there playing jump bump as we called it. As kids 4 of us on one keyboard those were the days . This is very similar. I really like this game. I certainly would like more levels but I guess maybe one day lol.
