I was a bit skeptical of this game at first; however, after the first hour I was hooked. Graphics, Gameplay, Friendship. It has it all. I played with my speech-impaired friend and discovered that not only was he speech impaired, he was mentally impaired as well. After countless of failures, our mental weakened and we weren’t sure if we could make it to the end. But there was a bright light at the end and just as all was lost we completed the game. Thank you for creating this specimen of a game, the bond we now have has never been stronger. Some might say we are now Inseparable.

POSTSCRIPT

This game is adapted from my comic.

There is story mode, so don’t worry about not looked the original comic.

I wanted to make a networking game,

however, the network technology is too hard so I deleted the network mode,

instead, used local multiplay mode.

Players can use STEAM’s Remote Play Together or PARSEC or other third share screen platforms for online connection.

Desert Child

Desert Child

Introduction

Desert Child is a unique mix between racing game and life simulation.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Beautiful pixel art with cool looking animations

  • Memorable soundtrack

  • Great balance between fast-paced racing and calm walks around town

Cons:

  • Gameplay lacks in variety

  • Races have rubber banding, that makes it feel unfair when you lose

  • Not much in terms of the story

Story

You play as an unnamed man, who wants to take part in the hoverbike racing Grand Prix on Mars. In order to do that, you need to earn enough money for a ticket to Mars and then enough money for the entry fee. There isn’t anything else to the story, you can get some world building information from newspapers and that’s about it.

really chill game. desert child is great if you just kind of want to relax (and be very, very poor) in a funky future with occasional racing gameplay. the racing gameplay is, unfortunately, really shallow, but it’s entertaining enough and the general presentation of the whole game def helps that. i really like how desert child looks and sounds, the soundtrack here is actually great pretty much all the way thru.

despite my having a generally fun and chill time, there is def a part of me that wishes this was a point and click adventure or something instead of the weird nonspecific kind of game that it is, though. the world SEEMS really interesting, but you don’t really get to learn anything about it other than what you can pick up from it’s trashy look and mostly jokey newspaper clippings. it SEEMS like there would be some interesting characters here, but all the dialogue is pretty much paper thin and there aren’t actually any… y’know. characters. which is a shame! the blurbs of writing that ARE there are usually pretty fun, so i do wanna see what the dev can do with a less simple game.

HoD: On open seas

HoD: On open seas

I know it’s less than a dollar, but this is an unfinished alpha that should be in Early Access or—since it’s been unfinished for 3 years now—delisted from the Steam Store.

There’s a lot of ambition and work here—far better than I could currently do on my own—but it’s tough to get though. I’m a huge pirate fan, so I’m constantly searching for good pirate games. This unfortunately isn’t one of them. Sadly, it could have been, if finished and polished.

Initially, I managed to play the first level of this game, and that was as far as I got before I received the message, “Unfortunately, this is how far you’ll get for now.. However, you are now a part of something that we believe in and we won’t stop until this game has reached it’s full potential. We are going to release a new chapter every Sunday”. I waited for a few weeks and went back to the game. I was able to get a tiny bit further on the next attempt but ran into another roadblock. I’ve done every quest, walked around every square foot of the game area, and I can’t find anyway to continue on. I was wiling to forgive the poor controls and bad user interface, but it’s extremely frustrating that the game is unfinished. Do not waste your time with this game. It has promise but not in it’s current state.

3..2..1..Grenades!

3..2..1..Grenades!

Wow, this game is actually a ton of fun. Its got a lot of little things about it that remind me of playing an old N64 game. The music sort of reminds me of like diddy kong racing or something. A lot of the sound effects are very N64 sounding. Even the quest mode or campaign reminds me a lot of maybe super mario or something. You go around collecting golden grenades which you then use as sort of currency to open doors to other levels to then get more grenades.

There is no online multiplayer so if thats what youre looking for then maybe turn back now but honestly ive been having a blast by myself and with some friends locally. All the game modes are multiplayer as well. Kill eachother all day or team up against the bots. Speaking of the bots, they are quite smart and pretty good at the game.

I reviewed this for Two Credits. You can find the full review, the score I gave it, and some cool screenshots from my time playing here: http://twocredits.co/review/3-2-1-grenades/

Summary:

3..2..1..Grenades! has provided me with some of the most pure fun I’ve had in a game all year. It is fast-paced, hectic, and requires a different skill set than many other first-person shooters do. It also boasts somewhere around twenty levels, which is quite a lot more than many of its competitors, some of which have multiple layouts, and a large number of rules that can be modified. The only thing that is holding this game back from being an instant local multiplayer classic is that it is a first-person shooter with a dual-stick control scheme that may be difficult to play for those that aren’t particularly adept at moving with one joystick and aiming with the other. Other than that, the game is one of the best of its kind, which is perhaps largely due its uniquely limiting premise.
