Omniblast
This game is an absolute steal. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into this.
At first glance, this game seems like your standard, run-of-the-mill runner - dodge randomly generated obstacles and get the highest score that you can. Controls are simple: A and D to move, Q and E to strafe/blink, Left Shift to boost. I found it easier to use a controller, although Q wasn’t automatically mapped for mine - I’ve published a controller configuration that works like a charm that you can use. You’ve got shields, which are replenished by defeating bosses; health, which is replenished by passing asteroids; and charges for both strafe and boost which replenish over time by themselves. You can adjust the difficulty.

Omniblast is a free to play (but monetised) 2D retro pixel vertical scrolling endless runner. It does have the appearance of an Asteroids/SpaceWar! ripoff but it’s considerably more dumbed down than that.
Gameplay consists of basic dodging left and right, and “boss fights” which just involve dodging stuff for a while then ramming the boss with the “shift” key. There’s a series of upgrade systems and so on, which makes it seem like someone took SpaceWar!, then removed most of the gameplay, then went back and started bolting alternative, less enjoyable gameplay onto the game they stripped down. Essentially, this pig has 6-10 layers of lipstick on it. If it’s not broken, break it, then weld pointless stuff onto it?

Solaroids
If you like astroids type games, you will love Solaroids! It is a really smooth play, and there are many settings that you can tweak and change to adjust the game play/view the way you want. I also think the soundtrack is high quality and enjoy listening to it while I play. The local multiplayer mode is fun for families, -my kids enjoy the game too! Solaroids is still in early release, but the solo developer keeps us posted about the updates he is making and the plans he has to improve the game, including a story, and more grapics etc. He is also very open to suggestions, which I appreciate. I would definately recommend the game if you like to shoot things in space. It is surprisingly fun, and polished in the game play. Give it a try!

I have been playing this off and on for about 3 years. Seeing the massive updates, option upgrades, graphic changes, etc. has been really amazing.
This seems like a finished product, not a beta or early access… and then it updates and (unlike many other updates) you realize that they found a way to improve on something that was already great and retain the things you liked! You have even more things to explore or try out!
When the twin stick came out I was FINALLY a bit more competent and it transformed from a PC simulated arcade game to a modern console version.

World Destroyers

Great throwback game. Love the retro, look, sounds and music. Put on your headphones for this one. Controls are smooth once you get the hang of them, and the handy tutorial at the beginning provided the opportunity to do just that. I played using my xbox one controller and it worked beautifully.
World Destroyers is easy to get into, but hard to perfect. I’m thankful for the variety of difficulty modes. Looking forward to becoming a master. Reminds me of a newer, better version of the classic arcade game, Asteroids.

Deep Space Gardening
Lovely artstyle and laidback music. Only played the tutorial so far but looking forward to playing it with friends in local co-op

A great addition to the Co-op time management/Resource Manage genre,
Soundtrack is pleasing to the ear.
The game is simple to pick up and required scores are manageable.
Currently Lacking in accessibility for the colour blind player, but I have no doubt this will be fixed.
Being able to Mix Local and Online multiplayer makes gathering friends very easy.
Graphical style is very clear and easy to view during long play sessions

SCHAR: Blue Shield Alliance
This is a 2D top down ripoff of 1962’s SpaceWar! (one of the first video games) where you fly a spaceship around and shoot projectiles at spaceships that you don’t like. It’s a familiar story.
There are a few graphics customisation options and the game is in colour so that’s what Brainshape (smooth) have to show for 53 years (!!!) of video game development technology since SpaceWar! came out. I think after 53 years of planning to rip off a video game you could come up with better graphics and gameplay, but nope. Also, you get insulted by console peasant childrens toy gamepad prompts, and that’s really sufficient for any PC gamer to immediately dismiss this.

TLDR: Clunky splitscreen topdown shooter. Constantly picks up phantom keyboard player, making game setup frustrating. Play Stardust Vanguards instead.
Local Co-op centered wave survival game with twin stick style mechanic. The game routinely picks up keyboard as a player making it frustrating to set up controller only. The flash grade assets are rather underwhelming. The art for backgrounds and cutscene portraits felt cheap and low quality. The menus were not all that well laid out. The core gameplay could had been fine as it is just gunning down targets, picking up coins, and unlocking permanent upgrades but the clunkyness and lack of polish on the engine does not really reward you for it.

The Mars Agenda
‘The Mars Agenda’ is a really neat little puzzle game that will make you scratch your head. The graphics are minimalistic but visually pleasing nontheless. The game’s soundtrack is also very fitting and calming. It’s absolutely worth the price!

Friend of the dev.
A fun puzzle game with an interesting theme and great atmosphere.
You attempt to keep Mars bases fully operational while constantly being weary of your remaining oxygen. A good mix of puzzle types, some more complex than others, will keep you thinking as you progress. Puzzles often require the “guide” to complete, which is helpfully available as a semi-transparent overlay, or also on a browser if you have a second monitor to reference.
Currently (EA launch) there are 9 missions, amounting to a couple of hours of gameplay. Puzzle elements are randomised however, so although a given mission always has the same objectives you can’t memorise exact steps for each mission and it can be fun to repeat missions in an attempt to find more efficient routes to completion.

Chromatic
The game is unique in its own way, took me a few minutes to understand it, doing the tutorial twice worked out for me apparently.
Its really good once you know what you are up to.
- no bugs found atm.

This game is a highly original concept, and definitely well executed.
Rundown:
The aim of the game is simple, to kill everything on screen and survive as long as possible. However, it’s not done in the usual, just shoot at the enemy and it’ll die. It’s a bit different. You’ve got a colour core that you’ve got to aim at your enemy. The opposite colour of the enemy (or something close to it) will do the most damage to your enemy.
Replayability:
This game has a lot of replay value in it, especially since you can easily see yourself improving which is a big motivating factor to keep playing this game. Not to mention it’s leaderboard for the competetitive (like myself) who want to get to the top. There’s also a second mode in this game called “Toxic” mode. A much harder take on the original mode since you’re constantly losing health. Your death is guarenteed, however, it’s more to see how long you’ll last.

CMYW
CMYW is way too addicting. Totally worth the $!
PROS:
-Quick playing and easy to understand
-The leaderboard is a great motivator
-The physics behind all the movements is impressive. The more ores you pick up, the slower your ship propels until it’s emptied at the portal. The more powerful the gun, the stronger the kickback (so be careful…you’re not invincible!). It took a while to get used to the ship’s motion, kind of like flying drunk, but once you get used to it it’s awesome! The game features all balance each other nicely :)

If only we can have more Atari-like games on Steam!
Pros:
-Objective: Its the classic Atari game Asteroids, now with enemies to keep you on your toes and resource collection to further increase your high score.
-Graphics: Kick @$$ Especially when the nukes go off or you lose your portal.
-Music and Sound Effects: Feels like this is a game from back in the day.
-Controls: Fluid. Much simpler when compared to original Asteroids.
-Co-op: New major feature added to the original concept.
Cons:
-Co-op: Feature is local only.
