Boomerang Fu

Boomerang Fu

Boomerang Fu is, at first, a simple game. You’re a Fruit. I mean, excluding Eggplants. And Avocados. Ok, fine, it’s not a Fruit Game, but a Fruit/Vegetable/Grain/Drink/Ice Cream/Sushi/Bacon game. Each character oozes personality, some in a literal sense, others roll around a bit more.

Anyway, as the title says, it’s all about Boomerangs. You throw boomerangs, slash with boomerangs, catch your own boomerang, kick boomerangs out of peoples hands, turn into a box & get hit with a boomerang, etc. You’ve got 3 (4 technically) buttons, 1 stick. Simple to pick up, hard to master, but outstanding fun at all skill levels.

Amazingly fun little game.

And my kids (5 & 7) just love it!

It may appear a bit violent at first glance, but it’s not that violent.

You mostly cut food items or break and occasional cup.

No blood or gore or anything.

The game easy to play - even a child can do it.

So kids enjoy it very much.

The bot enemies on lower difficulties are also quite easy to overcome, so the kids can even play the game by themselves.

Other than various characters (that only differ in their graphics) the game also offers various levels, with different game mechanics (levers that allow you to kill enemies by moving the environment, moving ground, ice, trees that hide you, etc.)

Street Fighter X Tekken

Street Fighter X Tekken

I myself have played pretty much every Street Fighter game that is available out there, including the very first Street Fighter game. And I believe my first Playstation game was Tekken 1. I have loved fighting games since I was a little kid, and I in fact, wanted to get this game, but because of some negative reviews on this game by some people, I decided to just stay away from it for a while. Now that it was on a Steam sale, I have decided to buy it, and well, I am not really sure why people would give bad ratings to this game….sure, you can’t really use the Tekken characters like you normally would in the original Tekken games, as the one that made this game is Capcom, but those Tekken characters still maintain their own character even in this game. It kind of sucks that Jin is kind of hard to use in this….or I should say, he either sucks or is for the real hardcore players….or possibly, I simply don’t understand how he works in this game yet. But Jin kind of does not really feel like the Jin in the Tekken series. It sucks even more because you can’t use Devil Jin, either.

7/10 A good game with several severe drawbacks to it

Review for the Street Fighter X Tekken: Complete Pack version 1.08

Both the Street Fighter & the Tekken franchise are video game milestones. Capcom’s Street Fighter II (1991) became famous for introducing mechanics we nowadays perceive as normal, such as combos, cancellations, or lenient controls. Bandai-Namco’s Tekken series (1994 ongoing) then built upon this & Sega’s Virtua Fighter’s legacy (1993 ongoing) to sweep the market with 3D fighting arenas, new control schemes, more realistic fighting moves, & beginner friendly controls that displayed a remarkable, never before seen depth to them. It seems like a no-brainer for these two giants to meet up in this crossover from 2012. But whether this 2.5D mashup fared well or not, is a completely different question.

Video Review:

Textual Summary:

ZHEROS is a beat ’m up in the oldest sense of the word: You run through a level and beat up tons of mobs. the game does this in a pretty nice mix of combo’s you use that have a solid animation, sound and design. they feel the way they should. character levels/customisation and a solid set of options do bring this game all she need to florish.

It’s a matter of taste, but i feel the 3d Does add a bit of life to the title over it’s 2d counterparts, especially with a variety of levels being more than a linier corridor, with some minor side-objectives.

ZHEROS is a side-scrolling brawler type game with a twist as it has a more 3D perspective to it.

Right off the bat as I watched the opening cut scenes it gave off a Saturday morning cartoon serial quality which I loved as I reminisced about all those shows I used to watch. The developers of ZHEROS have a great sense of humour as some of the cut scenes are hilarious and priceless. :)

You battle your way through the sci-fi setting using brute force or some occiasonal weapons. You want to to try and maximize your combo moves to boost your score. I really liked the way the controller layout in the settings illustrates with pictures exactly what each button will do for you so you can pick it up almost instantly and be an efficient brawler right away.

BUY/SALE/PASS: Buy - Feel free to buy at full price

Divekick is a recent addition to the fighting game genre developed by Iron Galaxy Studios and released in late August. Everyone loves fighting games, right?

No. Not everyone. But why?

The fact of the matter is that for most fighting games the barrier to entry is complexity. Players must learn about each of the characters, how to perform special techniques, and master precision combinations on a six-button layout just to be able to compete.

Real player with 239.0 hrs in game

Divekick is a fighting game you won’t need to spend hours in a training mode practicing combos that’ll never land anyway in order to get better. You may not immediately click with its unique parody of fighting games and general poking fun at the fighting game community, but at the very least, you’ll probably be pretty good at Divekick by the end of your first match due to its elegance in simplicity.

1 Dive Button.

1 Kick button.

1 hit and you’re dead.

5 rounds won and you’re godlike.

1 hell of a good time.

Double Dragon Trilogy

Double Dragon Trilogy

At this point in the history of the franchise, you either “get” Double Dragon, or you don’t. This is a side-scrolling beat-em-up in it’s purest and simplest form. You can punch, kick, jump, jump kick, and do a scant few other moves. The enemies you’ll face all have personality, but it’s of the behavior-based variety. The game is challenging, particularly on the Original and Expert difficulties, but can be finished in a short amount of time… even shorter if you become particularly skilled at the game and the nuances in it’s play.

In theory this collection should be a great experience. That’s what I thought when I booted it up. As soon as I tried to adjust the resolution, the game proceeded to crash, forced me to verify files and turn off my virus protection as a content lock occured.

Once I got it back up and running with controls set comfortably on my 360 pad, it worked well. Well enough for what feels like a lazy attempt to wrap three arcade roms into a stand-alone executable.

The Time and Score text overlay is really weird and doesn’t mesh well with the rest of the visuals. The options feel kind of barebones, there’s no intro videos or explanations or anything for any of the games, nothing. People coming into this without knowing about the games will have no idea that you can do super moves, like hitting punch and jump together in DD1 for the game-breaking backwards elbow. Or how DD2’s controls are odd. Or how you can flipping run in DD3 by double tapping move (the previous two games didn’t have it, so unless you did this by accident how would you know?).

Wanba Warriors

Wanba Warriors

Wanba Warriors is a brilliant example of creativity. The characters feel distinct and fresh, with some completely altering the theme of the match.

A novel system of character control at first is scary, but becomes incredibly rewarding. In Wanba, movement and melee are intertwined. Each mindgame, each feint renders you immobile (for most characters). The stamina system enables a game pace where patient and clever moves are rewarded.

I cannot give Wanba Warriors any recommendation other than to try it out. If you find it enjoyable, check out the discord for info on the tourney scene!

Wanba Warriors… a thing of mystery. A game within a game, a story within a machine, and a code within our nature. Wanba Worriors… it is everythig it ever needed to be, and is’t everything it ever was. now is it everything that it needed for it not to be, and also everything god made it to be? yes.

1. Do not play any other games they will all make you worse at Wanba.

2. slowly wither away from friends and faimily until u are only a shell of what you once were

3. wanba,work,sleep,repeat

Deadbeat Heroes

Deadbeat Heroes

Have given this game a thorough workout since release and really enjoyed it.

PROS

  • Beautiful, 3D retro-superhero comic book style with more than a nod to Kingsman;

  • Compelling combo-points scoring mechanic;

  • Ability to steal super powers from villans and use them;

  • Wide range of challenging baddies to fight;

  • Great animation and variety of moves;

  • Cracking script with plenty of gags and hilarious voiceovers;

  • Local co-op is a blast.

CONS

  • Controls can sometimes be a touch unresponsive;

Deadbeat Heroes, a game that will give you a heroic feeling once you finish it! Unless you play in co-op - not expecting the game to get harder when another player joins … - I wouldn’t recommend this game to :dea:dbeats: the bosses are surprisingly easy, and even the final boss, Prime Sinister, is (relatively) easy, but especially the last 2 chapters took me some time to successfully complete (taking into account the required grade/score) – 10-2 & 10-3 being brutally hard in my opinion. What plays a part as well in this, are the visual explosions; it’s all very aesthetically pleasing, but that makes it harder to not get hit by hordes of enemies. Since you need to aim for a bunch of combos for the grade, being careful is rarely an option to compensate the hit chance, so there’s a bit luck involved here and there – fortunately not calling it a game that requires trial and error, because I’d estimate it’s 40% responsiveness, 30% tactics, 10% accuracy (feels like there’s an ‘aiming assist’), 10% luck & 10% fearlessness (there’s a lot at stake after some progress due to the lengthier missions, and completion = fail if you don’t achieve the required grade).
