How does it feel to be a psychiatrist?

How do you face everyday challenging you to rescue people taken hostage by their own minds? How do you treat a schizophrenic like Alice from Wonderland, a sociopath like Joker or a fascist criminal closely resembling Hitler? How will you react to a sudden attack of a patient that truly believes you’re a spy of an evil organization? What will you do if another patient takes you for his long lost father and will try to catch up all those years that passed? How do you talk to them all? What medicine should you give them? What procedures should you apply? How do you handle your own strained nerves that demand soothing using the same vices you try to defend your patients from?

Your choices will define both yours and your patients’ fate. It won’t be easy and it won’t be boring, that’s certain!

See how everyday life of a psychiatric hospital looks like, run various therapeutic sessions, prescribe medicine, carry out clinical procedures and collaborate with other personnel members (who can get symptoms just like your patients). But most of all: stay sane!

Talk and heal

Every patient has a story waiting to be discovered. Everyone needs an individual diagnosis and proper treatment. Talk to the patients and figure out their defense mechanisms to find causes of their disorders. Ask the right questions, guess hidden motivations and skillfully provoke consideration.

If you liked papers please you’re gonna love this game. Its the same concept of looking at papers and deciding whether they should pass, but as difficult as papers please was. (sorry my review will contain a lot of comparisons with papers please) Instead of working at one place you will work in many beautiful and interesting stations each with an interesting manager/boss. Each station will have different working requirements, some have 3 lines you will have to watch and let people through from and from as much as i’ve played you can get up to 4 sheets to check which creates a really hard game, and you will even have to check things like contraband and dress code. The game will guilt you into letting people in, you will also be bribed, there’s a resistance you could support and you can sell drugs/candy (still not sure) for extra cash.

Survive a oppressive world in this enjoyable Papers, Please-esque

Developed by PanicBarn, Not Tonight took place in an alternate history; a Post-Brexit United Kingdom specifically where citizens that are of European heritage (known as Euros) are constantly being oppressed by the government. You play as citizen #112, another ‘filthy Euro’ just waiting to be deported to your original country. Your goal is simple: avoid your inevitable fate, any means necessary.

Gameplay

As mentioned before, the game overall structure is similar to the much more well-known Papers, Please. In other words, a lot of micromanagement gameplay. As #112, you’ll be working as a bouncer for a multitude of different locales, ranging from nightclubs to drinking pubs to the London Wall itself. Your job is to supervise the entrance and decide whether the customers are allowed to enter or not. Or whether they deserved it or not.

(Detailed review. Will be updated as necessary. Patch 0.5.4)

I wanted to give myself adequate time thoroughly testing and playing this game before reviewing it. With over 100 hours put into testing this game, I’ve written this review taking all things into consideration with a neutral stance.

Between recommending this game or not, I conceded to recommend it. However, there are some factors each person should consider before purchasing the game in it’s current stage and that ultimately comes down to your personal preference, there is no “one size fits all”.

I bought this game a few years ago since I really enjoyed The Guild 2. It was bare bones back then and not comparable to The Guild 2, which made me not play it for a long time. I started playing it again recently with the newest update to check the game’s progress and now I’m hooked. Exact same thing happened when I first discovered The Guild 2. I feel like The Guild 3 is now an improvement and proper successor to The Guild 2, as it should be. The development of this game has been extremely slow since it was released in Early Access, which may upset some people who want to see more progression in development. I understand some of the frustration but The Guild franchise is more of a niche type of game and fan base that it will never be extremely popular. They have steadily been updating this game over multiple years and it has improved immensely. The game is still unfinished and I’ve encountered some bugs but nothing too serious. The game has been very stable for me and I have not experienced any crashes. Graphics are not great by any means but a massive improvement from Guild 2 and offers some high quality textures and many more armor and clothing items. Overall there is a lot more items than in the Guild 2.

The Guild II

The Guild II

The Guild II is a dynastic medieval simulator. Essentially what this means is that it is a simulator with some heavy RPG elements where you play as a family through the ages.

As the game starts you make your character and pick a profession then you get put into a European city of your choice and set up your business. Soon enough however, your starting character will die off, hopefully from old age and not an angry competitor, but that is not the end. If you were smart enough to get married you can continue playing as your spouse as well as any children you may have had and so the game continues.

Im usually not a fan of simulation games. I play “The Sims” for a day and call it quits, its just not for me. Ive only been playing “The Guild 2” for half a week and ive already invested nearly 40 hours at the expense of work and sleep, for me this game was very addictive. Its practically the sims but based in the dark ages where you grow a family and basically conquer your village with money, economic strength, and political power. This game features an abundance of mechanics, marriage, work, religion, politics, assassinations, blackmail, ect but there are various areas where its broken. For example there are times when my building was being attacked and i couldnt defend it because the attackers were glitched inside the house while not actually inside the building. (this can be countered by sending your men inside the building, then exiting the building with the camera and re selecting your men and ordering them to attack, then they exit and fight properly…assuming that there are no obsticles in the way). The game allows you to upgrade your cart to move faster, but you can only move as fast as traffic will allow, sometimes the streets are packed (it may be intentional to force you to strategize timing). My only other complaints are with its options menu, you cannot run this game windowed unless you alter the .ini file, and even then it pauses when you click away to another monitor, and you cannot remap buttons which you might assume isnt a big deal but when your speed keys are + and - it takes much longer when it could have simply been remapped closer to WASD. Oh and the game crashes on me once in a while so i recommend turning on autosave. Otherwise this is a game that i HIGHLY recommend if youre into sims and historical themes, yes it has a few problems but the positives outweight the negatives. Just be sure to get it on sale.

Citizen of Rome - Dynasty Ascendant

Citizen of Rome - Dynasty Ascendant

I would not recommend the game. Seems to have been abandoned. And any feedback on historical inaccuracy of the game has been ignored. Visual style is fun and nice.

The reality is that it is a super addictive “mobile type” game. Which is why I have racked up so many hours in it. You can play it anywhere, at any time. And you can just open and close it. So it’s ideal for killing time while waiting for a stream to start, etc.

But. The fact remains. It’s woefully factually inaccurate. And for things that would be easy to fix, (e.g. Consuls could only run every 10 years, you can run every year in the game - women can have jobs that were exclusively for men, women can also go for education that was exclusively for men in ancient Rome). The only way to make any upward social mobility is through the annual betting activities. Which is quite a hack to be honest, because when you have played the game for as many hours as I have, you can actually tell which sequence of results you will be getting.

First impression:

This game needs a major fix. The randomness to it is out of control. Lazy programming seems to have just assigned ranges of behavior that consistently contradict your own strategy. Any game designed so that you can put in an hour of work only to have everything fall apart because of a dice roll is poorly designed. If I want to sit on my floor and roll a 10-sided die 400 times hoping to never roll a 1 lest I should become the book of Job, I can do that by getting a die out of my old box of Risk and wasting my time on hope.

I Am Your President

I Am Your President

Congratulations, Mr. President, you have just won the elections! Now the lives of seven billion people depend on your decision, world leaders reckon with you, industry kingpins have to follow your orders, and you have the whole army at your beck and call. No pressure. Take it slowly. It’s not like you can be impeached, die during the nuclear bombing or in assassination. Not like that at all.

So, as we have completed the formalities, let’s talk about your new prerogatives:

Personalize your political views and create the presidency which America – or you - need.

Wisely choose your advisors and cabinet members. Hire and fire on a daily basis.

Every decision matters – choose your way of ruling and embrace consequences!

Make friends or enemies. Talk your way out of difficult situations.

Use social media and read the news – maybe this time they wrote something nice.

Provide sustainable development, or simply watch your country fall into chaos.

Try to survive as the President. If an impeachment occurs, you must start the entire presidential term again!

Be sure to wishlist the game to be notified when it is released.

You are the Commander in Chief of the army and it is entirely up to you if you want to conquer the world, or abstain from violence. Remember – whether you send a group of soldiers on a secret mission or start a regular war – people will be watching your actions closely. Journalists, other politicians and leaders, justices, even common voters, they will all react to the situation.

Use special agents, steal technology, assassinate inconvenient leaders, move troops, send nukes or try to maintain status quo – all of these action can be performed right from your office. What will you choose – peace or war? Make no mistake, the fate of the world rests on your shoulders.

How should you respond – jokingly, seriously or ironically? Different options can help you make allies, but also enrage your previous supporters. Be careful with words and make sure that you don’t neglect any of the prominent groups or important people… or do and deal with the problems later.

Follow the narrative and react to events. Talk to your advisors, receive visitors and make decisions. There are no wrong answers… unless there are? Check for yourself and repeat the game if you fail – new dialogues await your discovery, so don’t worry about repetitiveness. After all, America was not build in one day.

Every encounter has its effects, some of which can be really long-raged, so wait patiently and hope for the best. Your citizens surely will.

An excellent entry in social media can be the key to a great popularity among the public or a nail in the coffin for a careless person. Your actions have impact on the world and even the most innocent post can ruin someone’s career!

Use the most well-known social media platform - Screecher. Screech about your plans, attitude, call somebody names or maybe praise the voters. It is entirely up to you how you want to come across in the internet – as funny, empathetic, factual or maybe weird? Being the president you have a will and a power to create your own image and write schreeches to your liking. But remember - there are always going to be responses from other users. Prepare for a public backlash!

Touch people’s hearts with your writing abilities. Create the most compelling speeches and statements to achieve your goals. Want to calm the enraged strikers? Show the party that you’re the most efficient president? Raise everyone’s spirit at the state funeral? All of these can be done with a proper composition. Receive the title of the most charismatic leader ever!…

…or fail and make things even worse by being tactless. But hey, at least you had some fun writing about that salad you’d eaten in the Supreme Court!

No teddy bears allowed. Everyone must stay at home from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. You cannot say a bad word about president. See? This is the real power.

Create executive orders that will change people’s lives. Throw your weight around when it comes to guaranteeing the rigid rules or put the freedom of the Americans first. Reject the acts that don’t appeal to you and check what will happen then. Outline new borders of democracy with your abilities, but remember – no one is untouchable.

YOUR REGIME STARTS NOW

You wish to start a war or maybe make peace? Take care of the poorest or support capitalists? Advocate for gun rights or stand against them? Support cats or maybe increase the dogs population? Everything is possible!

Why, you may ask?

Because you are President of the Goddamn United States of America, that’s why.

WorldBox - God Simulator

WorldBox - God Simulator

Worldbox is the most advanced god game out there. Don’t let the pixel art fool you, there is complexity here. You have no limits on your power, create and destroy without cost. Create storms, rend the land with earthquakes. Assign the dry land a biome, be that a dense jungle, or arid savannah. You can even curse the earth, so that the souls of the slain are trapped, cursed to wander the land as a vengeful wraith.

These souls, the races in the game are one of the core features. Spawn a group of humans, orcs, dwarves or elves. They will spawn, knowing nothing at all about the land you have made. As the grow and expand, they develop culture and research technologies to help them survive. Will you help them grow into a High Renaissance trade civilization? Or will they be unable to unite, due to a lack of resources and marauding demons. Watch as thousands of years of history lay out before you. Greedy dwarf kings waging unjust wars, intrepid human explorers setting sail for the first time in 800 years, since the Collapse. What will they find? Untouched paradise, or the husked out ruins of a once great Elven Kingdom. 2 Immortal kings, plotting against each other for thousands of years. All scenarios I have witnessed in my own kingdoms.

I absolutely gosh darn love this game.

I have played it for definitely over a hundred hours in the Humble Alpha version and I am so excited that its here on Steam. I can’t wait to follow this game to the ends of the box in Steam.

I do see a lot of people complaining about the price and how it is not worth it for how much content is in it right now but guess what guys? ITS AN EARLY ACCESS GAME!

Just a little advice: if you know that a game is not yet complete just DON’T BUY IT!

Anyways, what I find good about Worldbox is that it is just what it claims it is: World + Sandbox. ‘Course it isn’t as big as the actual world, but it still is pretty big. Complete with dozens of creatures to kill, i mean, spawn, and a whole array of powers to use to torture, i mean, help those creatures, Worldbox is a masterpiece.
