Long(er) version:
Ceress and Orea has been on my radar since the developer first started her dev thread over at RMW. Reading and seeing the amount of progress she made over all those months, left me very excited for the final product and I’m happy to say it didn’t disappoint.

I recently received this game for free as a curator connect offer for my group Visual novel, JRPG, Anime. This RPG Maker-based game by Plueschkatze features a female protagonist Ceress who was sentenced to death for falling in love with a noblewoman Orea as her personal bodyguard. Ceress was forced to jump down a high cliff with an offer of a full pardon if she were to survive such a fall.
Ceress would wake up inside a cave that happens to be the realm of an unnamed deity where if she is resourceful enough to reach the exit of the cave, she would be allowed to leave the place without losing her soul. As Ceress makes her way through the cave, she would recall fragments of her memories with Orea.

Dangerous! TOO SWEET!!
It’s kinda cool I liked a lot the way it was a simple “love story”.
You mostly build up your relationships with the twins but it’s worth it!
If you’re looking for a love story with a little plot between high schoolers and with lgbtq content, you’re never gonna waste your time on this game!!
Plus the visual and illustrations are really great.

Otter of My Life
Otter of My Life had potential. HAD is the keyword.
I think a lot of issues revolve around translation errors and just plain bad game design (i.e. gender and pronouns having an affect on what endings you can get, lots of typos, text box issues, etc.). Normally I would ignore typos- English is a hard language to learn- but the grammatical issues are too bad to ignore in this case. This game has been out for over a year now and there’s no excuse to not get better translators.
The writing is bad. Not just “free to play game that was thrown together in a basement” bad- it feels like a middle schooler wrote it for their first English assignment. None of the characters are interesting or get any depth, and the routes are entirely too short, even if you’re just grinding for achievements.

Plot Lines are short and characters lack any depth. I was able to get the generic Bad Ending and one of the good endings in under 33 minutes. You don’t get to see these characters grow or even become too attached to them before you’ve completed their ending. We learn only surface level details of the characters we are dating and none of them have chemistry with our character or each other.
There are other weird oddities. Some of the characters are more poorly drawn then others and some of the Bigger Character Sprites are missing the details of their smaller versions. Which is weird since the Smaller Version could be easily upscaled. Dialogue is awkward and character speak or interject with information in ways that no Human ever would, which leads to Dialogue which can only be cringed at. The issues with the dialogue are clearly because the creator is not a native English Speaker, but even if the dialogue was improved. It would not help the Shallow Characters, lack of world-building and short, predictable and boring storylines.

Foul Play - Yuri Visual Novel
Great characterisation, good art, and very fitting music. It’s easily as well written as (if quite different from) others I enjoyed like RazzArt’s Starlight Vega, Studio Elan’s Highway Blossoms, and Hanako Game’s Black Closet. This is on top of its reasonable replayability (ignoring bad endings and minor variations, there’s at least two completely distinct endings following each romance). Just overall a very well put together story.

I have laughed plenty, I have sobbed myself to sleep, and perhaps a couple of other unspeakable activities. Good, relatable, real wlw content. Plenty of moments where I saw myself in my own experiences, especially when navigating the community and the coming-out process. Makes me feel better about who I am and what I’ve gone through. ggwp, thank you for your work 3

Heart of the Woods
Heya! Zombie Cecelia here!
This is gonna be my first proper-ish game review on Steam so expect a not so much a review than me waffling review
So I bought this game on release (15.02.2019) and played a bit of it before work and stuff happened so was too busy then kinda forgot about it for over a year and only just got back into it about a week ago… Oops!
I guess because I can’t physically go outside due to sickness and the lock-down, meaning my favourite bookstore is closed, gave me the incentive to pick up Visual Novels (VNs) again (I usually prefer reading from a physical book rather than online buut let’s not delve into the reasons for it lol plus VNs have their own magical quality so it wouldn’t be fair to compare the two… but I digress because this is meant to be a review)

(This article was written as a blog post )
Heart of the Woods looks like a nice interesting love story about 2 girls, one human, one ghost. It’s homo, so it’s just what I needed to escape from the real world. Although it appears to involve love across the living and the dead, which is a concept that’s been done to literal death. But hey, the game is well-received, it’s on sale, the artstyle is new to me, and most importantly, it doesn’t appear to be too long. So I guessed it’s going to be a nice fit for the spare time I currently have.

Truth: Desorder III—Gemini is a short horror visual novel about some sick twisted relationship between twin sisters.
After awful first two parts this game looks much, way much better. I appreciate all the improvement the developers made. Though this novel is still not in a perfect condition, unfortunately.
Art is nice. There’s even an opening video now which is rather fine. But I can’t say I liked the same sprites for the main characters. This story seems to be completely unrelated to first parts, in this case… Why?! Honestly, inevitably all that negative impression lingers here as well because I continue looking at the same characters.

Blooming Nightshade
This VN was designed with mobile phones in mind, which results in an unusual graphic layout and generally very simple visuals. Only two sprites show up on the screen at any time and there are no dedicated illustrations to portray important scenes. Music is also super-simple, and the default font is kind of hard to read (thankfully it can be changed in the menu). It doesn’t give a bad impression, but still looks pretty stiff and basic.
So, how’s the story? Well, also basic. The protagonist is pretty much a blank slate, receiving little introduction and mostly standing out by being the tallest girl in the game. There are six potential love interests who you can either romance or befriend, with each one having a theme (eg. being a gamer, baking, but also things like slight disabilities) along with some kind of issue they have to resolve during the route. It’s your typical slice-of-life fluff, but I can’t say I hated any of the stories or the chemistry between the girls and the protagonist. This is probably still better as a smartphone game, letting you burn some time on a bus or a train with its bite-sized, cute yuri romance… But was still fun enough to keep me reasonably entertained on the PC. Just don’t expect anything deep or elaborately illustrated.

I love dating games - and games in which you are not action, action, action - all the time and for me this is perfect
I too thought like many when i first came across this free game it was nothing more than a girl on girl sex game and nothing more - i was wrong, very wrong
First off there are adult themes in mention only -but gladly never shown (no need to be shown either)
Secondly the girls you get to date each have a good story to them - though the game is short and really for a VN is more read than play with mostly a single option per girl - i really love the stories inside
