Nice Spice

Nice Spice

Nice Spice takes JRPG-like elements (in-depth story segments, towns, equipment, leveling, etc) and combines it with randomized action-platformer battles.

SETTING OVERVIEW

In an enigmatic hellish underworld, different queer furry folk on their own journeys find one another and quickly form friendships and band together. They learn of mysterious arcane spices that when consumed, giant monsters and dungeons are summoned. With different personal goals and needs they decide that working together to collect the spices and conquer the dungeon is the best way to move forward, even if the path is full of dangers and peril. They travel through caves of guts and bones, goo, etc.

The story will feature themes of sexuality, mental health, queer comradery, and finding a sense of place in a hostile world.

CHARACTERS

The game has an ensemble cast of playable characters and NPCs, such as:

  • Oregano, the perpetually anxious green canine who must rescue his boyfriend captured by a cultist.

  • Yonko Donko, the donkey who taps into her inner butch badass when she learns to channel her punk idol.

  • Preston, the nudist burnout shopkeeper who scavenges the ground for items.

  • Marble, the otherworldly latex-clad being who is a total sweetie.

  • A furry dragon with a thing for being tied up.

  • Clyde, mysterious mummy, possibly hibernates in an egg made of bandages.

  • Two mysterious canine demons who love prophecies, and have a floating head mascot creature pal.

GAMEPLAY

The fighting revolves around action-platforming and randomization. Once you get into an encounter with an enemy in a dungeon or in a random battle, you must complete a series of random-generated rooms with varying terrain and enemy placements, as well as random powerups when you defeat enemies, etc. You’ll also be focusing on managing XP, equipment, coins, finding shops etc.

Aside from the action segments, the other equally major focus of the game is on the story segments. You’ll spend lots of time getting to know the ensemble cast, spending time with eccentric townsfolk, and progressing a large story. The main story will be linear but you’ll be given freedom to explore and find denizens to hang out with to also further the plot.

In all there are several different views and modes used to traverse the game’s world:

  • side-view random-gen action platforming battles

  • side-view to explore towns and caves, very chill

  • a top-down dungeon-crawling view, very trippy

  • a SNES-style psuedo 3D overworld

  • and scripted story segments will bring you to new areas too

ACCESSIBILITY

A few accessibility options we’ll include:

  • turn off screenshake & tone down flashy effects

  • slow down time for all battles, to make the game easier to control

  • hide nude illustrations

Petremay

Petremay

Petremay [pronounced: Peter May] is a new upcoming stylized First Person Shooter game developed by Spekktrum Studio based around the use of magic and abilities and how to use them against your enemies. There is no currently planned release date.

Story

The year is 2026, in an alternate version of our world where magic exists and is considered a normal occurrence in society. Petremay takes place in Mirem, a fictional town located in the state of Michigan within the United States. You play as Vivian Jace, a police recruit going out onto the field for the first time. You are quickly told by Erika Redd, Mirem’s head police detective and your boss, that a cult from the 90s that was thought to be dead has come back. It is now your job to stop the cult before they take over the town using whatever means necessary.

Vivian quickly discovers that she’s part of the group of people who can utilize Magic, unlike most of her friends or family who have no magic genes. Using her newfound abilities, what she once thought was an impossible feat is now possible using her powers.

Depending on your decisions, the game will have multiple routes and endings that you can go through. Will you be the heroic savior of the town? Or will you join the cult and became a powerful force of evil that is not to be reckoned with?

Gameplay

Petremay is a game completely based around the use of magic and abilities. Along with normal shooter game mechanics, you will also be able to collect various powers and abilities to add to your arsenal in the game. You will be able to go invisible to avoid detection by enemies, see through walls to see exactly where the enemies are located, or you may even be able to freeze or slow down time entirely, and even then there’s still a vast amount of many more abilities to unlock throughout the game!

Petremay is also a game about choices. You can chose to go down the typical linear story laid out for you - or you can branch off into your own path. There will be at least 2 major endings to the game - you can either help the police to save the town and return it back to the safe place that it once was, or you can join the cultists and become a dictator who terrorizes citizens in the town. Every decision you make in the game will count!

Community

At Spekktrum, we also believe in a strong sense of community. We love interacting with others inside the gaming community and we would love to see what you think of our games and what ideas or fan content you have for the game! Feel free to reach out to any of us at any time!

Shield Cat

Shield Cat

Shield Cat – the Game!

Shield Cat is a game starring Lance the otter! He is a mail courier for the Cat Kingdom, delivering official letters and packages. One day, Lance wakes up and finds that the Cat Kingdom is in chaos. What’s worse, his friends seem to be responsible! What dark magic could be at work here? Lance will need all the help he can get on his adventure, both to save his friends and to save the Kingdom!

Abilities

Along the way, Lance will find abilities that can help him on his quest. You can equip and upgrade these abilities to enhance Lance’s strength and allow him to use more tools on his quest. Here are just some of the many abilities you can learn:

  • Tubular Twister: Lance’s spin attack! Use this move to get over big gaps, attack enemies, hit gears and levers, open treasure chests, and much more.

  • Shield: Lance can throw his shield to hit enemies from far away. He can also use it to solve puzzles, and upgrade it to give it more distance and range when he throws it.

  • Cards: Lance throws a continual stream of cards from a seemingly endless deck. He can use this ability to take down multiple enemies at once.

  • Dagger: Lance can aim this dagger and hit enemies from a great distance. This ability is good for people who like stealth – enemies wont even know what hit them!

  • Bombs: Lance can use these bombs to open up the path to new areas, or to damage enemies from a distance. It’s explosive fun!

  • Passive Abilities: You can find and equip passive abilities which grant you bonuses as long as they’re equipped, such as increased movement speed, surviving enemy combos, increasing the drop rate of goodies, and more! Be warned though – Equipping these passive abilities takes from your magic for as long as they’re equipped. Watch your magic meter!

  • Upgrades: Lance can find upgrades to his health, magic, and attack that permanently boost his stats.

Collectibles

During your quest, you will find several types of collectibles! Here are some of the collectibles you can find:

  • Pretty Petals: The currency of the Cat Kingdom. Use these to buy abilities and upgrades at shops.

Fish Scales: Each stage has a fixed number of Fish Scales. Use these to access new locations by train. Can you find all of them in each stage?

  • LANCE Letters: Each stage has 5 LANCE letters for you to find. However, the stages are pretty big – you’ll have to check every nook and cranny if you want to find these!

  • Cat Coin: Special currency of the Cat Kingdom. Use these to open doors and gain access to new areas.

  • Key: Each stage has a set of keys that are only useful for that stage. If you find a locked door, keep an eye out for a key!

  • Treasure Chest: Find treasure chests scattered throughout the land. It is a mystery what each one contains, but it (most likely) will aide you on your quest! If you find an ability you already have, you can sell it at the shop for Pretty Petals!

  • Fish Statue: These will permanently increase Lance’s max health, so be sure to look for them!

Locations

During your quest, you will visit many locations throughout the Cat Kingdom. Here are just some of the places you’ll visit:

  • Cat Castle Town: The central town of the Cat Kingdom. Here you will find many shops with items that will help you on your journey, as well as mini-games to pass the time with.

  • Roo Express: The train that serves the Cat Kingdom. Ride this train to get around to different areas!

  • Underground Forest: A place underground with plenty of trees and views of the sky above.

  • Mt. Bophades: A volcanic mountain in the snowy north.

  • Lignum Woods: A mysterious forest where Lance lives.

  • Lake Fromonda: Scenic lake and home to an aquatic exhibit.

More locations are planned, but don’t have official names yet.

Friends

Along the way, you’ll meet many friends and make more friends. Here are just some of the people you’ll meet:

  • Parker: Lance’s partner and also lead engineer of the Roo Express. Parker is a Kangaroo/Deer with a love of trains and the power to create magic portals.

  • Ruby: A yee-haw beaver who has power over water, Ruby is in charge of the Aquatic Exhibit and studies marine life and liquid Metamagic.

  • Suzette: A stoic leopard gecko who has power over the earth, Suzette can tunnel through the earth with ease. She lives in the Underground Forest and studies rocks and other hard Metamagic. Despite being so grounded, Suzette’s girlfriend Olivia is a bird who flies in the sky!

  • Trent: A mischievous fox with the power over fire and ice, Trent lives in Mt. Bophades and helps keep the volcano under control – a job Trent does well, despite being slightly irresponsible.

  • Olivia: A cockatiel who flies through the skies and has power over the wind, Olivia is the leader of the Sky Cat Airship Fleet, the Cat Kingdom’s air travel service.

  • Claire: The leader of the Knights of the Shield Cats, Claire takes her job seriously and does whatever she can to help protect the kingdom.

  • King King Cat the Cat: The king of the Cat Kingdom, King King Cat the Cat was elected to rule and, despite being clumsy and forgetful, does his job well.

  • Willow: Willow is a magical fox that appears to some people. It is said that she can record your journey and come to you in times of trouble to give you a second chance.

Game Modes

The game supports different difficulty levels and play modes, which are detailed below! Please note that achievements will only be given on the lowest difficulty used on that play file.

  • Difficulty – Chill: An easier mode where enemies do less damage and are less aggressive, and drop more items and whatnot to help you on your journey. For younger players or players who just want to enoy the game.

  • Difficulty – Regular: The intended game experience, exactly as it was designed.

  • Difficulty – Tough: Enemies are tougher and also tougher to defeat, and drop less items and whatnot. This mode is for people who really want to test their skills.

  • Difficulty – Wild: In this mode, Lance’s attack is doubled, but so are enemy attacks! This mode is for people who like fast paced action and is the ultimate test of players skills.

  • Difficulty – Custom: Experience the game the way you like! Change Lance and enemy modifiers, drop rates, and more! Note that achievements cannot be obtained in this mode – It’s just for fun!

  • Speedrun Options: Various options can be enabled for speedrunners, including an in-game timer, automatically skipping cutscenes, reduced scene transition times, and a quick restart button that erases your file and starts from the beginning.

Demo

Currently, there is not a demo available for Shield Cat. To allow people to still play the game, I’m offering a playtest, in which you can play a non-feature complete build of the game! You can’t “beat” this demo and many things are not available, but you can check out how the development is going as I work toward the Chapter 1 demo. Please check it out!

Thank you!

Thank you for checking out my game!

Russian Reality

On the whole, it’s not a bad game. Good combat system, there are four main characters to play as. The presence of bosses is nice. And the cherry on the cake is a very rich storyline, with side quests that depend on your choice. Recommended for purchase !

Cool game in which you need to fight drunks, complete tasks and complete the story. The game has many locations, skill leveling of the character and many different chips.

A very decent game for a sane price. Recommend.

Bloom: The Forest Burns

Bloom: The Forest Burns

For now I am not going to recommend it, if you cant control the game properly why bother playing it at all. If the controls are fixed and the keybinds saving fixed then I will change it to recommending a YES!

THE BAD…!!

1. Absolutely confused if this is a demo of Bloom: Memories and this is just a chapter part of the full game, so basically a demo, OR it is a full game.. giving the game two different titles does nothing but confuse people.

2. Absolutely terrible controls on controller, and nearly as confusing and bad on mouse & keyboard.

This is gorgeous. Been looking for a game like this for a long time: it’s like Lands of Lore meets Zelda!

Huge congrats to the 3-person team, and looking forward to “Bloom: Memories”!

Anopek

Anopek

Nice concise Metroidvania.

As expected from an FPS in the Wolfenstein 3D vein there’s no jumping which is rather unusual for a Metroidvania.

The enemies have the distinct approaches with scorpions marching along a predetermined path, mummies slowly homing in on you and giant mystic slug slowly meandering around before turning around to drop the megaton bomb on you.

The bosses provide their unique challenges with only the bone worm being able to be summed as Just Circle Strafe Dummy. The highlights include a golem persistently ripping shields off of the walls and a moth with about 6 different phases.

Real player with 12.3 hrs in game

A short but wonderfully worthwhile experience! Anopek is a fun game with enough variety in weapons, enemies, and areas to keep you engaged throughout. Probably around an 8/10 if I had to give a number.

The game’s overall feel is the highlight; the look and sound of each area mixed with weapons that hold a good sense of power to them. Like any good fps: the shotgun felt like the most fun to use, and was acquired at a point where I was feeling like I could maybe do with some stronger firepower. Some of the boss battles felt a little more tedious than necessary, but others are strong tests of the player’s knowledge of their weapons as well as their ability to use them on the fly. The library section was by far my favorite, and it’s corresponding weapon’s special power brought a big, dumb grin to my face once I realized what to do.

Friend ReQuest - A Playable Teaser

Friend ReQuest - A Playable Teaser

Most of the game is pretty boring, so as to show how dull this person’s life really is. However, that doesn’t exactly make it enjoyable to play, and there’s barely any story for the first half of the game. Then, for the second half, there’s more story, but less to do in general.

I also have a habit of pressing esc to check my stats/ pause the game, and that exits this game. There is no save function, so I had to restart. They do tell you that there is no save function at the beginning of the game though.

I’m sooooo excited for Amity Chain and this really sold it! Amity feels so real and all her conversations are so fleshed out I’m really looking forward to seeing more from her and other characters. Really neat spritework that I’m also excited to see more of!

Tip: stick around at the “end” of the game when the screen goes white!
