Inertia

Inertia

I’m enjoying this game! Like some other reviewers, I found the controls slightly off at first, but then I figured out what I was doing wrong. Accordingly, I want to offer a few simple tips that should be helpful for new and inexperienced players:

-Sprinting vs walking: In the Options menu, under “Input,” make sure “Use sprint input” is checked. This gives you much more control over your momentum, as you can either walk or hold SHIFT to sprint. If that option is not checked, I think you are always sprinting. SHIFT/sprint also affects your ability to make movement corrections while in the air.

The best I can say about this game is that it is fine. The movement feels slow and clumsy but honestly not all that bad. The mechanics range from very cool (the black-orange platforms that break) to alright (the wall running, feels cool but VERY glitchy) to just unneeded (zipwires, just unnecessary, taking control away from the player for 5-10 seconds.)

The double jump is weird, where the higher your initial upwards momentum is when using the jump, the higher the DJ will go. Eg double tapping space will send you flying but trying to DJ after running off a ledge will make you go nowhere. Some of the platforms that move up and down have weird physics too, but it makes somewhat more sense there.

Trackmania United Forever

Trackmania United Forever

This game isn’t a racing game like all others. Trackmania has its own things that make it a special racing game - the physics for time attacking.

You can ride with cars over nice maps build by Nadeo, or the community in 7 different environments. Collect medals by improving your time. Chase your friends to see who’s the better racer. Build your own maps and share your maps with others, for example on tm-exchange.com. There’s a lot of stuff you can do related to cars.

True, you can do all of this in Nations, but United is another big experience of driving with different cars and enjoying their unique environments. Please don’t waste your money on this game because of Coppers support, it’s stupid.

If you give this game only a brief glance, you are going to see a simple arcade racing game where cars look like toys and drive round corners at speeds exceeding 600 km/h. But if you look under the shell and start probing deeper you shall see that TrackMania is in fact many things and it isn’t in fact simple, but rather simplistic.

Do you like hardcore racing where you need to hunt for tenths and hundredths of a second, and even a small concentration lapse can result in a crash when you are on a world record pace? Come on in, there’s plenty of that. Do you like to build maps for others to race at? It’s easy to do that with a built in editor. Maybe you prefer doing various stunts, such as backflips, barrel rolls, driving through loops or just riding the walls in a car? TM is a perfect choice for you. Just in case you like puzzles, there’s a game mode for you where you have to build a fastest way between start, finish and a few checkpoints using a limited amount of blocks. Then again you can just challenge your brain and your very self to try and seek for outrageous shortcuts in others' tracks, as nobody can dictate you the order in which the checkpoints must be driven.

This game takes me back to Indy 500 for the Atari 2600. It was so simple, yet whenever there’s competition, there’s interest. The trick is to run the race as efficiently as you can. It requires some experience, some experimentation, and some mental toughness to do it well.

I haven’t played this long, but I love that I can spend 10-15 minutes on this when I’m bored. Depending on how tough the competition is, I might spend more, or less. It’s perfect for people who don’t have a lot of time throughout the day to play a game.

Lots of car variations and unlimited player made tracks.

You start out with a bit of coin and two cars. You can use your coins to purchase other cars and/or variations of each one. There are also several tire choices for the variable track conditions to spend your coin on.

You earn more coins buy simpy turning laps, but you earn more when setting fast laps. So if you are within a certain percentage of the top time for the day, you are rewarded with coin. This is all sorted and tracked via the easy to use, in-game leader board. That said, earning coin is a bit of a grind at the beginning…not overbearing, but it pays to make smart purchases…you don’t want to be short on cash when in need of some rain tires. :)

Swarm Universe

Swarm Universe

In one word, this game is “Perfection”. You’re like a swarm of angry bees.

Pros:

  • Simple to learn, hard to master

  • Runs smoothly considering you know what you’re doing

  • Modding = Infinite possibilities

  • The story is hilariously rushed but funny

Cons:

  • The serious modding is BRUTAL.

  • Did I mention how much I hate the Scorpions and Penta-Turrets?

! The early levels are a bit lewd at first glance, because the first enemies look like sperm, and you are a swarm “egg”.

I didn’t know what to expect when a friend recommended this game to me.

Now I’m enthusiastic. Maybe because of the funny guide through the game or the music that drags you into this challenge. The drone-thing is a nice idea by the way. There is so much to improove and discover…. gotta go back to the swarm universe!

Cellyon: Boss Confrontation

Cellyon: Boss Confrontation

This game has a really cool concept and is very promising for the future, the skill cap seems to be very high and even though it is still the beginning, there is already a lot of content that will challenge you for hours.

It is in early development phase so there are some bugs and a lot of things can be improved but it is really promising and might offer to MMO lovers a real challenge through a lot of different encounters !

I reccommend it !

I never was a fan of this kind of game because of the farming part.

So this was a very good ocation to start since there is no farming part in this game.

I reccomand it for all who want to try MMO/boss fight who can’t spend 20 hours farming before any fun.

Slaughter League

Slaughter League

Slaughter League is a fast-paced multiplayer extravaganza that will pit you against up to 10 friends (or enemies!) in a daring race to the finish line. Will your skills measure up and help you take first place? Run as fast as you can (just watch out for those Tesla coils), jump as high as possible (but avoid the buzzsaws, of course), and slide your way to victory while dodging any spikes along the way. Now hurry, we need more lambs to the slaughter!

Along with a single-player campaign, Slaughter League features three core multiplayer modes. First is the classic race mode, where you can face off to see who can complete the course fastest, either in a single race or a series. Next is Outlast, where you’ll need to keep up with the randomized course as it moves along and try to be the last person standing. Finally there is Zombie mode, where an infected player attempts to zombify the rest of the competition and the last one alive (or at least, not undead) wins the round. After trying each mode, take a break from the competition and try out the stage builder before unleashing your twisted creations upon others!

  • Absurd Ragdoll Death Animations and World-Class Commentary – Being brutally slaughtered has never been this fun before!

  • Story Mode – Featuring 25+ thrilling levels!

  • Three Core Multiplayer Modes – Race, Zombies, and Outlast, each featuring a variety of maps and customization options for never-ending, blood-splattered fun!

  • 100’s of Unique Cosmetic Items – With nine different clothing slots, tattoos, and more to select options for, players have no shortage of ways to express their personality and individual flair!

  • Exciting Locations for Courses – Race on the Moon, in a volcano, deep in the jungle, or opt for the classic “Stadium of Death” setting!

  • 25+ Deadly Traps – Guaranteed to slice, dice, batter, splatter, shock and maim you and your fellow competitors!

  • Fully-Featured Stage Builder – Build and share your own courses with other players; You’ll never get bored with the course options available!

  • Fantastic set of Achievements – Can you earn them all?

Super fun and chaotic! I could play this game all day! And I have at Gamescom 2019 :)

The look of the game is really unique. I am very curious about the single player and level editor, since I mainly played the multiplayer game in the demo and beta versions.

Can’t wait to continue with this version of the game.

If you don’t mind ruining some friendships playing through the very competitive levels, this is a must purchase!

The game’s just not that fun. The problem solving in the campaign feels like work from driving a clunky and overrealistic car while collecting crates and experimenting through trial and error to figure out exactly where to put parts and get through the track. Nobody plays multiplayer at all either, so free build is pointless without other people to play with.

I wanted to draw spontaneous tracks and goof around. All I got was a half-baked architecture lesson.

Update 2: I want to strongly enforce my opinion, that if you are looking into buying this game, the main reason should be Obstacle. While you can play other modes with friends or from time to time with strangers, obstacle is always playable and has a great variety. There are servers for tutorials, puzzle maps, different difficulties, dumb maps, progressive maps and coop maps. I started playing to play this game again around February, and played several hundred hours in quarantine, most of it in Obstacle. See this as the Trackmania of the Ego-Shooter world.

This has been my go to shooter for a loooong time now. What makes me come back to it is the movementsystem and the tight controlls. You can really do some amazing trick jumps, including walljumps, rocketjumps, rocket-walljumps, grapplehooks and all that good stuff. The thing is, the game does a really bad job of teaching you that you can do this. So the game doesn’t make that good of an first impression. To go fast in this game (and belive me, you can go really fast in shootmania) you have to put in some time into it. The mechanics are very unique and takes a while to get a hold of. It has a style of it’s own and no other game plays like it.
