The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC

Trails in the sky second chapter is one of the best JRPGs that I ever had the chance to play. I recommend this game to every JRPG fan….unless you REALLY hate text. This game has a lot of dialogues, it always flow exceptionally well but If you don’t like text, go see some gameplay footage before buying the game. The dialogues are always good to read, they’re never meaningless and are very well written. They make you laugh and sometimes you feel the need to shed a tear.

This game focus heavily on story and character development but even if you’re not interested in theses you may find Trails in the sky sc to be one of your favorite games thanks to it’s gameplay. I think the trails’s series gameplay is awesome. This game use the same battle system than the first chapter and makes it even better. The heavier emphasis on crafts (rather than arts) makes regular battles faster. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Trails in the sky’s battle system, it’s a turn by turn battle system that takes place on a field in which you can move your characters. You have to consider both you positioning and the time bar that indicates when comes your turn to succeed. It’s a solid system that requires the use of careful planning. Don’t worry tough, the game’s difficulty is well balanced and if you found it too hard or too easy, you can always change the game’s difficulty settings.

Short version of the review: If you hate JRPGs, slow-paced JRPGs or non-action games, play something else. Otherwise, if you can get past a bit of rust you can enjoy a very well explored, lengthy setting with good customization and competent combat that has related titles still releasing as of 2016. There isn’t much in the genre that can compete with this series in terms of scope, interconnectivity and character development. This game also taught me that force-feeding your angriest friend tomato sandwiches will allow them to kill anything.

FINAL FANTASY IX

FINAL FANTASY IX

TL;DR: Every long-life gamer has that particular game considered life-changing. To me, Final Fantasy IX is that game. And to me, this is the best game that a life being have ever crafted. Yes, I say “life being”, not “human”, because I’m assuming aliens have their own videogames. But they won’t be as good as Final Fantasy IX.

–————-

Okay, here comes a very long review. I’ve been waiting this for so long.

First of all, completely ignore my time count on Steam for this game. I’ve put 1000h+ into it, and I can easily make a perfect run by memory. Do you know that particular favorite movie you watch every single year? Well, I do that but with this game.

While I do recommend this game, I’d suggest getting it only if it’s been discounted. Final Fantasy IX is my absolute favorite game of all time but this “remaster” leaves a lot to be desired.

As mentioned in many, many other reviews, the new interface is really big and ugly and is clearly just the same interface they used for the mobile port. The original interface was actually quite good and it’s a shame it wasn’t restored for the PC port.

Sadly, there’s also a lot of bugs that have gone unfixed since launch, most notably the overworld music glitch. It likely won’t be terribly noticeable to those new to the game but in the original upon entering a random encounter the overworld music would actually pause so that when you exited battle it would pick up where it left off. That is sadly not the case in this version. Every time you have an encounter the music will restart. This is incredibly annoying and quite upsetting since Over the Hills is a beautiful and LONG song but it is perpetually restarted nearly every 10 seconds as encounters are fairly common. This IS a jrpg from 2000, afterall.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

This game was just.. an indescribably amazing experience. I 100%’d NieR: Automata shortly after it launched, and gushed all about it, however I think this game eclipses NieR as my favourite game that I’ve played this year. Or maybe that’s because I now have a 5 month emotional cushion since I finished NieR. :)

Nonetheless, there are games that I enjoy playing, and then there are a very small subset of immersive games that transcend being a game, and become minor life events in my strange life. Games that discuss with me about the meaning of life, about love, and about what is really important. Games that make me wonder if I am a good person, and what I can do to better myself. Games that chew up my emotions and spit them out again. This was definitely one of them.

I feel almost obligated to leave a review solely based on my 60 hours in this game, 70 in SC (the sequel that concludes the story set up in this game), 50 in Trails in the Sky the Third, 70 in Trails from Zero, and 70 again from Trails of Cold Steel 1. And I’m only 5 games done out of 9 currently in the series, with a tenth on the way. But that’s still half of the series, so I think I can say with some confidence – not with complete confidence, and I’m sure that there are those that know far more about the series than me, but still – that I know what I’m talking about. This is gonna be a long one.

FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster

NOTE: This game requires you to set the PAGE FILE on your pc to custom and set the minimum to 4 GB, BUT ONLY IF YOUR WHOLE PC CRASHES OR IF YOU HAVE CONSTANT CRASHES ALL THE TIME IN THE GAME. Windows Os will automatically make it only 16MB after each update too, which will make the game crash. Thanks to Steam user {TTV/1MantisPhoenix/ for suggesting below on how to do this. So far, this fix has made it so FFX/X-2 remaster has not crashed as constanty as before, although it still crashes time from time. For maximum paging file, you need to determine how much HDD and RAM you have on your pc. This will differ from pc to pc. You should try this fix only if you game crashes your whole pc. If your game is only crashing to desktop, that is a power management problem and sleep mode problem. Set them to never and it will fix that issue Check this link below to see more info on page file setup:

The reason I got into all the Final Fantasy titles

Where to begin…? This game is chock-full of things to do. 250+ hours of gaming, easily. And you’ll probably come back to it for nostalgia, and for the feels. So many different feels.

The setting: Tidus (Teedus, or Tydus? I say Tydus) is our main protagonist, and his life turns upside-down when Sin attacks and apparently flings him 1000 years into the future. The truth is far more sinister, but he ends up journeying with Yuna on her pilgrimage to receive the Final Aeon so as to defeat Sin.

From beginning to end, 8-Bit Adventures 2 is focused on telling an engaging story, not wasting your time.

It may be a sequel, but anyone can jump into this brand new JRPG adventure!

  • Constant variety – everything from ancient ruins to a robot murder mystery – realised through charming pixel art which walks the line between authenticity and aesthetic.

  • Everyone has a story, and you’ll find 8-Bit Adventures 2 full of weird and wonderful people eager to tell you theirs. They might reminisce about the past, offer helpful hints, complain about their daily lives, or just make a joke – you never know what they’ll say!

  • Curiosity is always rewarded; the more you explore, the more powerful your characters can become!

BATTLE

  • A turn-based JRPG battle system with depth and strategy, inspired by games like Final Fantasy X and Chrono Trigger.

  • Build your party from 7 playable characters, who can be freely swapped in and out of battle – without even wasting a turn!

  • Unleash 99 unique abilities, including Team Attacks and Omega Burst finishing moves.

  • Mix and match between an arsenal of weapons, armour, and accessories, or tap into a flexible Augment system which allows you to customise your characters stats and give them all kinds of special effects!

STORY

  • Become absorbed in an engaging, character-driven tale about living a full life and protecting the things that really matter.

  • A feel-good adventure filled with love, laughs, and drama, which deals with the dark stuff but always wants to leave you feeling uplifted over its 20+ hours.

  • Meet a loveable cast of characters who form relationships, make mistakes, and struggle with their past, but still work to save the world and overcome their demons.

  • Save the world from a vengeful Glitch! A mistreated child with terrifying powers threatens to reshape the world in his own chaotic image. A unique and persistent foe from beginning to end, the Glitch changes and develops over the course of the story like any other character, grappling with what he is…and what he could be.

  • 8-Bit Adventures 2 has a script the size of a novel, and every line of text has been meticulously timed to make dialogue flow naturally and bring out each character’s personality - just like if they were speaking out loud.

  • A focus on tight pacing and providing a consistently enjoyable adventure, rather than dragging things out or artificially extending the length.

  • Some fun references and out there ideas, but this isn’t a Meta, fourth-wall breaking story; it’s a heartfelt, character-focused adventure through and through. While the conflict with the Glitch drives the overall narrative forward, the personal struggles and relationships of the party members give the game its heart.

This game features bright screen flashes for certain special attacks and effects. If you are susceptible to these kinds of flashes and bright lights, or have an epileptic condition of any kind, please consult your physician before playing.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Rating 9/10 (Adult Content, Epic Story, Great Battle Mechanics)

This is another excellent RPG Maker game that I recommend, except that this game has unique adult content. This game also have a very interesting and epic storyline and great battle mechanics which I will explain below.

1. Adult Content

The steam version of this game is the “sanitized” version, where the naughty bits are all censored. However, you can download a patch that will remove the censorship so you can watch the game in its intended form. So, the user can decide to have either the censored or the uncensored version of the game. The story is also interspersed with explicit description of erotic scenes.

So ‘The Last Sovereign’ won me over with Sierra Lee, being able to write a grand epic hours long with a likable protagonist, a harem of badasses, political intrigue and having sex scenes that don’t feel like the main selling point. Now they also made a pair of visual novels about a yandere which isn’t my cup of tea, another RPG and a runner that aren’t released yet and two other RPGs. So here’s one them.

Story:

In a world ruled by a group of Immortals, a prostitute and her daughter get up in an adventure that could lead to the end of the world. Also eldritch horrors and sex.

Order from Caos

(Note: I will NOT judge this game based on its language. I don’t speak Portuguese, but I certainly understand what it’s like to have English as a second or third language. Just know that it is possible to understand everything that is said in the game, even though some things sound a bit strange to us. I take it as fun to try and figure out what the author initially meant to say in the first place, like a puzzle in a puzzle game!)

This certainly looked like an interesting game, so I decided to check it out! I also wanted to support the Developer since it looked like they put a lot of work into the game. It shows. The atmosphere, music, OST/SFX, and all the goodness are fun to play with and I wasn’t bored once! Sometimes you gotta grind… still wasn’t boring.

I still did not finish the game, but at the time of this writing, I’m about 15 hours on the story.

I’m really loving it! The story is captivating, the art design is quite charming and the original soundtrack is beautiful to hear.

The combat system is the classic turn-based combat. At this moment I’ve didn’t find any true difficulties (besides not staying low on mana), but it’s still quite challenging (and I’m probably still in the beggining). Trying to learn which type of spell is more effective against each monster was fun. And the spell animations are gorgeous!

Many RPG Maker 2003 games have been in development (and temporarily abandoned) for more than 15 years. Now that games like “Ara Fell” have proven that people are willing to pay money for these games (if they’re good enough), all the stragglers have begun to crawl out of their holes, trying to fulfill their childhood dreams. Some amateurish projects better remain unfinished, though; unfortunately, this game is one of them despite some visible effort.

Bottom line: Unless you’re in desperate need of another classic old school RPG Maker 2003 JRPG, I can’t recommend this game. There are far better games (for free) out there (check out “Theia: The Crimson Eclipse”, for example).
