Ouroboros

Ouroboros

If you’re reading this review you’re probably trying to decide if this game is worth your time and money. My recommendation: absolutely buy this game. Ouroboros is a phenomenal, engaging experience worth every cent spent and every hour played.

Here’s why.

First, if you have played a free version of this game, know that this version has significantly more content. Probably around double what the free version has, with more scenes, areas, bosses, and a more complete world and story. It’s worth the purchase.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 10/10 (Time Paradox, Events Perturbation, Adult Contents)

This is the 2nd Steam RPGMaker game that I played by the same developer, Sierra Lee. The story and game mechanics of this game is really unique and FANTASTIC and elevates RPGMaker games to a whole new enjoyment level. Let me explain.

The storyline of this game involves the classical time paradox where the events keep looping back to a certain point in the time continuum. At that point, everything resets. So you keep playing this game where your main character keep going back to the event where all his attributes are reset to “1” and everything repeats itself.

The game was very cool and taught me about whats going on in the world. The use of visual metaphor and game play to convey the idea of a world that is working against you is pretty cool. This may just be pondering in my part, but the female and male models stacked in top of each other to convey that you are in-between is pretty smart and it’s embarrassing to say that it took me awhile to get it.

Great game with great mechanical and visual story telling. Hope everyone stays safe and has a great pride.

The character walks around backwards is that on purpose like a homage to OoT speed run? (That would be cool but …) As for the story I could not figure it out so I stopped reading and explored. Interesting game but have no idea what’s going on. The secret room was cool tho.

The Odd Neon Void

The Odd Neon Void

The Odd Neon Void is a surreal experience of a… game, you are told nothing about how to play other than through trial and error, the bugs can teleport to “nothing personal kid” you, and the ending breaks the game to the need of alt f4. Ok I’ll leave a short review since this game seems new and I think it needs it.

First of all it is not really worth the full €2,39 price, I’d suggest to buy it when it is below €1. It is a very basic maze game with three levels:

The first one is the one I’d call the real “Neon Void”, with vaporwave colors and the highest number of monsters

The second one is a forset, which I couldn’t rellay explore that much since I found the exit pretty quickly

The third one reminds of a sunset for its colors and I guess it is when you get to choose wether you get the bad or de good ending depending on your actions in this level.

This game could be so much better. I have warped to grey screen death countless times. I camped while being attacked by a skeleton, woke up on Davy Jones' ship surrounded by the undead, and glitched to the starting warp. Jumped through many stone walls diagonally, and fought tigers from vantage point because of it. In my short time with this piece i have seen so many classic mishaps that that in itself is making me appreciate it more.

It’s $8, buggy as hell and absolutely wonderful.

I received a copy of this game to Let’s Play it and I loved it quite a bit. This is a really fun open-world game with a lot of stuff to explore and experiment around with!

It’s a unique auto generated game. Missons tend to be often very similar but there is always different glitches. A unique touch I saw was each auto generated game has it’s own little backstory for why your playing the “game” like every video game. The only glitch I see is with the flying mission which is if you try to barrell roll it doesnt work then u cant shoot and in shooting as planes sometimes if u die u never respawn/get the restart u should. Through the ramble I would say it’s a good time killer if you just want good casual fun to kill stress tho some of the hard mode glitches uggh lol I’d wait for a discount but like $15 vs th e current $20

I really wanted to like and recommend this game, but I cannot.

On the surface, the idea sounds great. Mix and match pieces of different retro games/genres and play through whatever wackiness gets created.

In reality, the game overall fails to deliver. Individual mashes take at most 10 minutes to play through, but rarely did I ever spend that much time in any one “game”. Instead, some are so easy (even on a hard setting) that you’re in and out in a matter of 30 seconds or less. The game description even calls out that some mash ups easy to win, some will be impossible. That’s acceptable given the premise.

Truth: Disorder II

Truth: Disorder II

NOTE BEFORE YOU BUY THE GAME: the developer updated the game, it is not a visual novel anymore, it is an rpg game with puzzle elements.

Overall the game is nice, it has easy achievements. :)

Thanks to the developer for his quick response and fixing the achievement I couldn’t unlock. :)

Truth: Disorder II at first glance seemed a bit better than the first part. It’s a tad longer and has much more choices. That’s all. Then I was just annoyed, furious and even hurt to read through that “game”. Seriously, I’ve never felt so disgusted. The worst novel I’ve ever read.

The language needs thorough proofreading, too often it looks like a machine translation. What’s that “slabovato”?! Aahhh and at some point the language switched into Russian completely. Nice bilingual game, guys, though I seriously doubt Russian is as wide-spread as English to justify releasing a game in a such condition. So for the first time I involuntary began to read a visual novel in my native language. Oh my, it hurt a lot. The Russian version is even worse than English. I would never have thought it could be possible to write like this. It’s some harassment of the language. Was it a machine translation as well? What’s even writer’s mother tongue? That was a torture to read through. If not achievements and my complitionist nature I’d drop it right away.

You Doesn’t Exist

You Doesn’t Exist

I can appreciate the artistic vision of the thing, really… but it just gets too strange for my taste. It’s like if you find an anime show that you really like… and then the final episode (or two episodes) they try to get all existential and flip the universe on its head and it just ends up being a terrible thing to watch. I enjoyed the first half of this game. I played up to META level 10, I liked it up until about META 6 I think. (META is the point where you change to another scenario.) Then it just got… stupid, for lack of a better word. I might go back and finish it someday, but probably not anytime soon.

If the game didn’t close itself, you aren’t done, and maybe that’s not even the end. I may have only got one potential ending. The dev thinks he is hilarious and clever, not sure if I have the patience to find out if that’s true or not. Yes it takes time to get to the point, yes everything is really generic at first, yes you get made fun of by the characters near the end. That’s the point. That’s probably the only point. Maybe….I don’t know. I may have to try again at some point, see if the first few (…chapters?) affect the rest or if it’s even worth finding out

Hisato no Saku

Hisato no Saku

A quick, fun, and replayable experience.

I failed pretty quickly on my first playthrough, but on my second I made it all the way to the end and did fairly well with my food stores and my village survived the winter.

Thinking I had it all figured out, I played again a couple days later and was not able to achieve the same success again, failing a number of times, and making it to the end once but without enough food stored for my whole village.

There are a lot of little details to pick up on for strategy, and then of course there is some luck involved as well. I hope to eventually make it to the end with a village population that is actually happy but I have a feeling that will take some time.

I was looking forward to this based on cool art style and hoped for a chill game similar to “papers, please”

So far it’s delivering on my expectations. The gameloop is somewhat random, and there aren’t so many ‘stranger’ types I’ve encountered, so it seems fun to replay but not infinitely so (and FWIW the slow text scroll to end each night can’t be skipped).

Update: I’ve had no issues since the developer’s first update. It runs as expected and is a fun 20-40 minute challenge I still haven’t beat. Recommended.
