This is a great game! its difficult and requires alot of thinking, and a great spin off of minesweeper. definitely would recommend to the heavy puzzle gamer. only one minor bug where game occasionally will crash when pressing space on a charging tile, but with that as the only exception, this game is great.

Distrust: Polar Survival

Distrust: Polar Survival

TL;DR: I love arctic survival games - but Distrust: Polar Survival is a lesson in how NOT to make an arctic survival game. Distrust is supposed to be a game about surviving in arctic conditions - yet once you figure out how to manage your resources, you’ll find the biggest challenge is surviving the many bugs like dropped connections and lost inventory.

PROS

I love arctic survival games, where you are not just fighting to survive but where the harsh conditions of the environment itself is killing you. If this doesn’t describe what you enjoy playing, I’d advise you to stop right now and pass on this game.

Distrust:

“Mayday. . . Can anyone hear us? . . . We need help. . . We’re losing people one after the other. . . HELLLP!” Then . . . silence. That’s when we decided to send a rescue team to our neighbouring Arctic base. But then, as the helicopter approached the base, screams were echoing all around. All we could decrypt on our end was “what is that light?” After that, all communication was cut and there was no sign of the chopper on our radar. I hope the rescue team survived the crash. That’s just the start of Distrust!

## Vulture for NetHack

IMO this is the king of the rouguelikes. There is no question in my mind. The amount of stuff you can do, the amount of careful planning it takes to get far, dying sometimes on your first step of the journey… this is roguelike perfection. This is just an adaptation of the classic NetHack, for the most part it is simply a graphical overhaul, or basically an isometric tileset. However, there are a couple game mechanics that are very slightly different. But for you purists, I really don't think it affects the gameplay. This is basically classic NetHack but with better graphics than have ever been seen before. Sadly, they are still not very good. I would love to see some really good graphics on NetHack someday, but I'm not sure there is enough interest for that these days. The devs of this game say they have graphical updates coming, and from what I've seen they look amazing, but the project seems to have stalled out, so who knows if we'll actually get them.

--- I spawned in to my adventure as a Human Tourist. Great start. I then walked into the next room, and found a box on the ground. On inspection, no traps were detected and it was not locked. I opened it, only to find that there really -was- a trap. A giant pillar of flame erupted from the box, killing me as well as my pet. The game made note that I was a sinner, presumably because my pet would not have died if I didn't set the trap off, Total life time: something like 60 turns. That's the Nethack we all know and sometimes claim to love. *– [Real player with 24.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198032206548)* --- ![Endhall](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/838990/header.jpg "") ## Endhall Endhall's description - a 'byte-sized roguelike' - encompasses exactly what this game is. It easily serves as a stepping stone for those unfamiliar with the genre, whilst still being enjoyable for those who are well-versed in it. The learning curve is not steep, but the game does a fine job of making you reflect on what you could have done better. It took me about 40 or so minutes to beat the game, which is completely fair given the price. A run consists of beating 9 stages, and a successful run could end up being about 15 or so minutes. *– [Real player with 18.2 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198047668701)* Endhall is a turn based rogue like puzzle, with retro graphics and atmospheric chiptune inspired music. The game in itself is quite simple (but there is no help, so I will describe it here): you play a robot fighting against other robots, you have 8 "health points" (labelled "energy meter") and 4 "action points" (labelled "CPUs"). The action points are used to perform actions (like attacking, moving, etc.), and refill every turn; while health points decrease by various amounts when hit, or by one after the end of every turn (to prevent the player from camping) and are replenished by one for every ennemy death. *– [Real player with 15.6 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197999950822)* --- ![Medievalien](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1372220/header.jpg "") ## Medievalien ### IN A WORD: **MAYBE** ### IN A NUTSHELL: **WHAT TO EXPECT:** Real-time combat. Action Roguelike. Medieval setting with alien technology and enemies. Fast-paced ARPG styled, ranged and skill based combat. Excellent range of alien enemies with different travel and attack types. Large arsenal of medieval and alien ranged weapons. Passives and skill power-ups instead of character levelling. Changeable level modifiers. Procedurally generated isometric maps. Unlockable hub trainers. Single-player only. *– [Real player with 33.3 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198001537536)* Medievalien is a very pleasant action roguelike which combines the procedural generation of a classic dungeon crawler with the new-age feel of your favorite phone shoot 'em ups like Archero. It's easy to get into and play a run, and it's not a big time commitment. It's a game that's constantly being added to in terms of bug fixes and new content. It helps that the developers are extremely receptive to feedback and the like. And while there are some bugs (which I expect in early access), they are few and far between. Most of them will not impact game play in any significant way. *– [Real player with 14.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198079213946)* --- ![Shattered Planet](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/305640/header.jpg "") ## Shattered Planet To put it bluntly, Shattered Planet is one of the worst Roguelike I ever had the displeasure to play and it's not worth the price at all, even considering this is the first game made by Kitfox, especially when they straight up abandoned it, leaving some items impossible to collect (making 100% completion not achivable if you are into that) and not fixings LOTS of bugs and glitches that plague the experience, either by being a minor annoyance or outright impeding your progress The premise of Shattered Planet is that you, the clone of a space adventurer, with the aid of your space crew, that is made by the huge number of one 'nother alien guy, must travel to the now shattered planet of Earth to find a cure to a space disease known as "Blight", which there are currently no ways to treat it. *– [Real player with 702.4 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198352605014)* I really like this game! Jumping right into what you want to know: Gameplay/Story: Simple; easy to learn very fast. Choose a clone, each with their own skillset and buffs, and traverse the ever-changing shattered pieces of an ancient planet crawling with monsters and tribals, littered with loot and new weapons to help you on your way as you progress onto harder and harder levels that are different every time. See how far you can get before the flora, fauna, or your own mistakes spell your end. You will die. A lot. But don't worry; your clone can pick up where you left off to start the adventure all over again with all the information and levels that your last one was able to earn before his untimely, and probably sudden, demise. But you're not always alone in this, you might sometimes also find it in your favor to either purchase or tame a companion or pet to help fight with you on your next trip to the surface. If you'd rather have a goal to reach instead of pushing the limits of your clone endlessly, there are 3 other difficult missions for you to complete with cool rewards for each, but you'll fare better practicing in endless first! Grab some scrap and crystals (money) in there to buy yourself some fancy murder-tools before pushing your luck in the missions. Travel a lot and you'll find it lying all over the place! *– [Real player with 153.9 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198127402143)* --- ![Dandy Ace](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1037130/header.jpg "") ## Dandy Ace Hey everyone, if you enjoy a good fun ARPG with roguelite elements, funny dialogue, and a wonderful art style you need to check out Dandy Ace. Along the way you battle various minions monsters and even find help from Nnif a bunny who is out to turn a profit. Will Ace be able to escape this mirror world? *– [Real player with 57.0 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198078318619)* TL:DR No regrets, just not good game. Kinda pretty tho. Lost my interest after the first couple hours. Review made on Patch 1.2.0.0.24 Ok, so It took me 32.4 hours to beat this game in nightmare mode, I’m Brazilian so giving up is kinda hard. I do not consider myself to be a good isometric Rogue-like player, despite really liking the genre, but I'm going to put my review here. First of all I bought it because I really appreciate new Brazilian games and I will buy them whenever I think they are cool, É nois mlk S2. *– [Real player with 32.4 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198053410477)* --- ![Dungeon Alchemist](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1588530/header.jpg "") ## Dungeon Alchemist Ever felt uninspired, technically challenged or just bored when creating your game maps? Counting the web version, I've put hundreds if not thousands of hours in to this game. Strategy is very important. Like backgammon, it's still skill even with RNG. My review is mostly using the version from about a week ago. I'll update it when I've spent some more time with the new version. Pros: Strategy is easy to learn but hard to master Art is pretty cool Very few bugs It manages good variety without excessive complexity I can't say exactly what it is, but I really like the gameplay *– [Real player with 175.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198277103599)* A great casual hex based strategic beat em up rpg, like a classic D and D one shot campaign. Weigh the options of attacking vs. sneaking and grabbing swords, bows and shields vs. counting your potions and scrolls for the dragons. No story lines to remember, just dragons to beat up, and mummies, and trolls, and those pesky firebugs. Run in the daily hunt against all other players, how many skeleton elbows can you collect in one run? 100? Inconceivable! A lot of strategy in each room, should I sneak by the orcs and just grab the loot, hoping to not be spotted? Can I take out the casters and snipers before I get clobbered? Can I handle the rain of fireballs? (p.s. if you get stuck in a rain of fireballs, you are doing it wrong). *– [Real player with 116.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198250609646)* ---
